Quite possibly the best running shoe I have ever owned. I have tried many brands (I train about 25 to 35 miles per week and go through 2-3 pairs of shoes per year), and have always found Asics to be the best for cushioning and support. But there have usually been little annoyances (as with any brand) that always bother me: either the heel cup was loose,or if tightened the laces hurt the top of my foot, or my foot slid inside the shoe during hard cornering. The Nimbus 17 fits great! True to size, perfect heel cup, very comfortable lacing. When tied at a "normal" snugness my foot stays secure, my heel in the cup, and no pain on the dorsum of my foot. The forefoot cushioning is wonderful, and they feel lighter than the last version. They also stay cleaner -- the fabric upper isn't honeycombed mesh like most running shoes, which means fewer crevices for dirt to become lodged in. Great shoes!

I loved my Nimbus 14s and 15s, so I thought these would be perfect for my next pair. I've now tried two pairs of these and both had the same issue: an uncomfortable seam that runs crosswise right under the arch of my foot. The strange thing? It's only in the right shoe; the left is fine. I could feel it rubbing throughout my test run, to the point that I was worried it was about to create a blister so I switched back to my worn out 15s. Other than that (which annoyed me enough to return them), the shoes look and fit great.

Nimbus 15 was a breakthrough for lightness and running comfort. Wore out two pair. Hated the Nimbus 16. It was heavy and felt like it was made by a lesser manufacturer for mass sales who has no idea of real running comfort. The Nimbus 17 is a whole new experience in seamless running comfort! It really does feel like running on a cloud. Bravo!

I have been wearing the Gel Nimbus line for 6+ years. During that time I have typically purchased 2-3 pairs per year. Every time that I have put on another new pair, they felt like they are my old favorites. Not only have they been the type of sneaker that you could take out of the box and immediately go for a run, but they are the type of sneaker that you could take out of the box and do a week @ Disney with the kids. They have never required break-in. The Gel Nimbus 17 is a bit different however. The new toebox design just isn't doing it for me. It seems that Asics decided to forgo the multi-layered fabric and mesh toebox of old, for a much prettier, albeit much less comfortable, rubber mesh over fabric mesh (for lack of a better description) design. This is unfortunate to me because the rubber mesh crosses the the top portion of my big toes and prevents the natural extension of the distal phalanx at the interphalangeal joint (my big toe rounds and points slightly up when standing) that I, and so many others have. The sneaker fit is markedly improved by removing the insole that comes with the sneaker, but trying an older, thinner pair didn't make much of a difference. I feel that I need these to work out of the box simply because they always have. I'm going to try to find some leftover Nimbus 16s or try a larger size.

Love these shoes. They feel great. Coming off of plantars fasciitis, they seem to be treating me really well. I ordered a half size larger and it feels great.

My whole life, I have had a hard time buying running shoes. Their pointy, narrow toe boxes squeeze and rub the front of my feet. With the Nimbus 17, I had to size up in length to get the 4E to fit, but because the shoe wraps around my feet so nicely, I do not notice that they are just a tad too long. They hold my foot firmly in the shoe and are very supportive and cushiony. They are a joy to walk or run in. And of course, Zappos was a pleasure to do business with.

I have been buying Asics Gel Nimbus for years. This pair is giving me blisters, despite a break in period. There is a seam across the top of the foot giving me blisters on the top of my big toe. I do not know if I can keep them.

I ordered the Gel-Nimbus 17 last year and it was too tight across the arch and didn't fit. They seem to have fixed this. I recently bought two pairs. They both fit me extremely well and are super comfortable.

The streets in Florida just got hotter!! These shoes are very comfortable and they improve with the miles you put on them. Great fit on my toes and they seem to mold to your feet the longer you are in them. Very pleased with the performance and fit of these shoes.

The new Nimbus is even better than before. Same fit as the past models. I wear a 12 in dress shoes but I'm flat footed and almost always wear a 13 in running shoes. Same for the Nimbus I wear a 13 and it fits perfect.

Great running shoes. I have run marathons in both the Kayano and the Nimbus and prefer the lightness of the Nimbus. This is a great shoe.

I had a great deal of success with the Gel-Nimbus 16; however the 17 has a major design flaw -- major for anyone who has sensitive feet. There is a seam or loose material along the seam inside the upper of the shoe, at the bottom of where the shoe laces up.

I have been wearing the Gel Nimbus for a number of years. Some editions are great, others not so much. This one is a not so much. First of all, they continue to make the shoes narrower throughout the all the widths. So while the 2E worked for me in previous models of this shoe, this time I ended up ordering a 4E. That didn't work, though, as other proportions of the shoe were then out of whack for me. I also experienced the discomfort across the top of the forefoot mentioned in another review. The cushioning is just too much as well. There is a limit to what works in that area and this shoe goes over it. The styling is good, if a little hip, but overall I cannot recommend this shoe.

I would give zero stars if I could. The Gel-Nimbus 15 and 16 were good. But these are truly terrible, dangerous shoes. I tried to make them work, even got two pairs in my efforts, but I am convinced that it is not possible for a human being to wear these shoes comfortably. The seam across the front top of the shoe will destroy your feet, as will the narrow uncomfortable mesh. The support is really bad too, these shoes gave me a violent and painful case of Morton's Neuroma and I am going to have surgery to repair the nerve damage. Stay far away, these are dangerously defective products. The positive reviews on here all look fake to me. There is nothing positive about these shoes other than the pretty colors. They also make good dog chew-toys, though I am concerned that the uncomfortable mesh could harm my dog.

The Nimbus is the neutral high mileage running shoe from Asics. Presumably it should go for 400-600 miles or around six months, depending on mileage, weight, terrain, weather, etc. I went to this shoe after building up my mileage in a stability shoe and learning that my foot strike was better suited to a more neutral shoe. (If you're running it's worth finding the right shoe at a local specialty running store and spending a few extra bucks and then returning to Zappos). Now I hit the pavement for 20-25 miles a week. At 5'11" 200 lbs I need a shoe with support. Also, I have a wider foot, not quite wide (EE), but a narrow shoe is uncomfortable. The Gel Nimbus gave me plenty of room and comfort for long runs (10-12 miles). The gel soles offer a plush feel and allow you to go for miles. This is without a doubt one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. The cost of the comfort gel is extra weight. The weight makes this a great training shoe, but less effective for speed. In addition to the weight, I sometimes get the feeling that my fore-foot is sinking into the shoe after initial strike only to feel the ground when I'm ready to kick off again, making for a less explosive rebound. Still, I've been very happy with this shoe and will continue to buy the Gel Nimbus for a comfortable and durable high mileage running shoe.

Quick shipment as always by Zappos. Coupon had expired but called customer service and they gave me a new one with no hassle. The shoes are great and very comfy. I wear a size 10.5 and that's what I ordered for the Asics Gel Nimbus 17 also.

I've been wearing the nimbus series since the Nimbus 12 and I love these shoes. The Nimbus 17 has been the most comfortable pair so far. Right out of the box, they fit like a glove.

This shoe is amazing. I have bought two pair this year, one for when I work out in the gym, and the other for outside. Overall I am well pleased with the shoe. It does feel like you are walking on air. The arch support is really comfortable and helps me a lot since I have flat feet. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. The sizing is true to size and is extremely comfortable.

Comfortable, I usually wear an 8. That was a little tight. 8.5 was prefect. I put light gray laces in and they look much nicer.

These are excellent running shoes for my husband. He loves them. He has large wide feet (typically wears a 12.5 or 13 EEE), and we got the size 14 in EEEE (Ex4). He was able to comfortable run 6 miles with me and commented that he had no knee, ankle, or foot pain. Yay! A definite win!

Love this shoe. I just switched over from the Kayano 22 (which I loved as well). Did a short run and a long run in them right away. Break in was a little slow, but started to feel amazing after I broke them in. So far very happy.

I just stepped up to these from the Gel Cumulus and am very happy. I am male, mid 40's and big. I do not run but have found the added support of running shoes are a big help over the cross trainer styles that I have generally worn since my 20's.
