I paid attention to the reviews that suggested ordering two sizes up and found this to be true. I normally wear a 12 and the 16 fit fine. This is disappointing to the ego, but I do like the way they fit.

I'm sending these pants back because of the issue with the zip off feature cutting into my thigh. I should have listened to the other reviewers, but I don't have "thick" thighs, so I took a chance. The pants look and feel great except for the zipper issue--The seam cuts into your leg when you lift your leg. Not a great feature for hiking pants.
I'd also recommend:
I'm ordering a Marmot zip off hiking pants and am hoping they will fit!

I'm a little hippy and these fit great. Others I tried were to narrow across the rear more for an athletic build (North Face). Does not gap at the waist. Like the stretch and weight of the fabric.

As always, I read the reviews before purchasing and so ordered up 2 sizes to a 14 in the Pond color. They fell off when I put them on, so because size 12 was not available, I ordered a size 10 assuming I'd be sending them back. They fit, and they're very comfortable. I'm thrilled. I like the stretch and weight of the fabric. I'm 5'4', 140 lbs, and ordered the S length which is perfect, and shorts hit just above knee. Very happy with purchase.

I was looking for pants exactly like these. Straight legs, good pockets and convertibles. They have almost everything except the correct sizing. I am 5'3" and weigh 117 pounds. I normally wear a 6P. I have other Columbia pants and wear a size down in the short, so I ordered in a 4 short. The length was perfect, I could button them, but they were too small, so I ordered a 6 short. I should have ordered the 8 short as the 6 was even too small. These are going back, too. I love the look and feel and think they would be great if I could find some to fit. I think I will wait and see if I find them in a store to try them on. The three stars was for the sizing. I do not know why it is so difficult for companies to standardize sizing!

I love this fabric. It is soft and very stretchy which is great for a safari or camping trip. However, the fit is tricky. It runs very small. I usually wear a 6 or 8. I ordered these pants in an 8, but they were way too tight. I reordered in a 10S and the fit is perfect. So, my advice...order at least one size larger, maybe two. I do recommend these pants now that I have the right fit.

I followed the size chart which had me in an 8 Long, I tried the 8 and the 10. The waist on the 8 was perfect but the thighs and hips were very tight, not good for hiking. The waist on the 10 was huge, I could pull them off without unbuttoning. If it helps others with their size, I'm 5'6" tall, 125lbs with a 33" inseam.

I absolutely love these pants. Fit is perfect, very comfortable in warm even hot weather. Material is durable yet soft to touch. I have washed them MULTIPLE times and they still look like new. Amazing price! I plan to buy another pair in a different color. Thank you Columbia for another great product!

Definitely order one size up. Not sure why all these hiking pants run small, but they seem to. I'm 5'4", 125 lbs and size 8 fit, although I'm normally a 6. I loved the fabric feel of these, they are soft and substantial, not cheap feeling. I'm sure they will dry quickly. I also liked that, especially in the darker colors, they don't scream "convertible" pant. I've never owned a pair thinking they look kind of goofy, but these look nice on, particularly in the leg where they are much narrower than other pants in this style. Just bought a second pair for an upcoming trick to Galapagos Islands.

Taking advice from reviewers, this is what I found: Black pants run 1 size too small. Nori (army green) run 2 sizes too small. I am size 8 Short and the 12 in Nori were a bit bigger than I wanted but for hiking they will be very comfortable; size 10 in this color was a little too tight "down there". The 12 in black were way too big; size 10 was perfect BUT if you own a pet, every hair will be attracted to this color and taking the pet hair off is not easy. Black ones went back. They are really comfy pants and when converted to shorts, hit about 2" above my knee and I'm 5'2".

This is my fourth pair of these pants and I love them. They are lightweight and I like the zip off pant legs. I read the reviews on these pants and everyone was stating how they had to order a size or two larger. Because I had three other pairs and the size was true, I bought the same size as my three previous pairs and had to return them for a larger size. Columbia...don't change the sizing when you make your clothing. I like these pants for kayaking and everyday wear. I'd order more colors if they come out with new colors but will remember to order up a size.

I have always loved convertible pants and Columbia took them up a step with their superior quality. Now I can go hike through the jungle completely covered safe from mosquitoes and itchy weeds then strip down to shorts for lunch on the coast and still look great.

Fit true to size. I ordered up because of the comments on them running small but I normally wear a 12 or 14. I ordered the 14 and 16 and the 14 fit perfect but not to spaciously. I will keep the 14.

The material feels very cool and loose, HOWEVER, they run very small. I'm usually a size 10 but decided to order the 10 and 12 just incase the 10 didn't fit. Turns out neither of them fit me. If I size up to a 14, i doubt they will look flattering because the 12 fit me great on my legs, it's the waist that is extremely small for a size 12. Will be returning and getting something else.

I've had these pants for less than two months. I was excited I found some lightweight convertible pants so I bought 3 pairs in different colors. I'm a very active person and all three pairs of pants have ripped at the seam in the same exact spot. If it was one pair I could understand it but all 3 in the same spot? It's just showing how poorly these were made. The other seams are also starting to fall out already. If you're not very active these may be great for you but not for me unfortunately.

Love these pants! I am 5'0 95 lbs and bought these in size 4 short for winter to give a little room to layer underneath. I usually buy these pants in size 2 for a more fitted style. Short length is good for my size. Love the material- its quick dry, light, stain & water resistant. These are my favorite pants to hike in! Love being able to zip off bottoms to convert to shorts during summer.

I bought 3 pairs of these pants for a wildlife photography trip to Botswana, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. They were perfect. Light weight, breathable, dried fast, easy to pack. They came in sizes with "Long" inseams which I definitely need and is not easy to find. These pants performed so well that I purchased an additional 3 pairs for a wildlife photography trip to Brazil's Pantanal. Again, these pants did not disappoint. I wish they came in more colors although British Tan/khaki worked for my purposes.

These are the BEST hiking pants! The reason why is 1: they are convertible and 2: they cinch at the bottom which makes it possible to since over your hiking boots to avoid getting ticks and your ankles brushing on poison ivy, which is so important! Plus, they are the only columbia pant that comes in inseam "Short" which is great for petites. My only issue is that the women's & men's color options are not the same, colors my husband needs women's have and colors like the men's blue, women's doesn't have which I need. This pant is much better than the Silver Ridge and wish this pant came in the colors the Silver Ridge has. I hope this isn't getting discounted since I need to rebuy after having these for over a decade.

These pants were great but I wish the sizing wasn't so small as I had to guess and fortunately guessed right!
