I'm writing this review about the grey suede version that I purchased from this site. However, I also own the same boot in black leather, and I will be drawing a comparison between the grey suede and black leather because there are differences between them. The black leather boots deserve 10+ stars! As a Frye purist, the quality is most like the first Frye's that I bought in the seventies (and still own them). The black leather have a lot of attitude and superior quality workmanship. There was no break-in time. They were comfortable right out of the box and true to size in every way. The sole and heel are hammered and sturdy. In comparison, the grey suede fit differently, and the sole and heel are not of the same quality material. They are narrower and tight across the entire foot-including the heel. They are uncomfortable out of the box, and I don't know that breaking them in will make them feel like the black leather ones - the fit is that different. The suede is a nice medium grey color - which is what I need. Take a close look at the side of the sole and the heel. The grey suede are a wood "look", and I'm concerned that the wood "look" will wear off on my driving foot as the heel did on my Frye Reina boots. The grey suede do not have the solid, substantial, quality, hammered heel and sole of the black leather Sacha moto shorties that I own. I don't know if I will keep the grey suede version, try to exchange for another in the same size to see if the fit is better on a different pair, or return them altogether. If the fit were the same as the black leather version, I would keep them for their beauty and attitude even though I am not happy with the difference in substance that I outlined in the heel and sole. Black leather rocks the entire boot world! Grey suede: jury is still out. I want to make them work because they are really cool too!

These are really nice. Be aware that the toe is quite pointy, so they have attitude. I am normally a size 10 and some Frye boots can be looser or tighter across the foot, but these are bang on. The leather and the hardware is beautiful. They are a great heel height - just enough lift without slowing you down.

I'm writing a review in hopes to save someone the ordeal I went through with these shoes. I originally ordered the black leather in a 6.5 which is my normal size. When I received them they felt HUGE! Then I ordered a size 6. I noticed the Frye stamp on the sole and on the insole looked smaller and didn't have a square around it. The leather also felt way different from the 6.5 I ordered. The size 6 with the smaller stamp had a thicker/stiffer leather and the shoe felt way more tight around the ankles. i ended up ordering ANOTHER pair in the same size and they felt different even though they were the exact same boot with the same stamp. I literally could not get my foot in the left boot. This was driving me insane and I really wanted these boots to work so I ordered a third pair of size 6's from the Frye company directly and finally received the soft leather ones! The leather is a little more textured and shaped slightly different. The heel of the soft leather ones are much wider. To the point my heel slips out of them and they're bigger around the ankles. These shoes are handmade in batches and it's a toss up of which kind of leather you get. I ordered from three different online shops, btw. If you have wider foot or thicker ankles I would def order the soft leather ones directly from Frye. If you need a tighter fit then try getting the ones with the small stamp without the square around the Frye name. So frustrating but I finally found a pair that worked! They're not SUPER comfortable but they look so good!

I've lusted over Frye boots for years, but it was a planned trip to Europe that finally allowed me to justify the purchase of these babies. I actually ordered a couple of different styles to try on, but these were the winners- they're a little rocker, a little different, and totally me. I wore them nonstop for the entire trip, and they broke in and went from a bit stiff and uncomfortable to incredibly soft and perfectly fitted to my foot, and they are developing a nice patina. I continued to wear them all winter and I'm sure I'll wear them for years to come. I usually wear a 7.5-8 (depending on whether I'm wearing socks or not) and these fit well in a 7.5, so I'd say they run just a smidge large.

Perfect from the get-go! They definitely have attitude and are very versatile -- wear with a long flowy skirt or a pair of cigarette pants! They are definitely FRYE style with the heavy leather, no nonsense sturdy zipper and the perfectly sized heel. These are just great!!

I've been eyeing these boots for months and finally purchased them. Instant wear-ability, sturdy craftsmanship that I expect from Frye, built to last! I am a true size 8 and the 8 fit perfectly, and I have one bunion on my left foot which adds to my toe width, but I could still wear them. Nice arch support, the heel footbed feels great. I want to die with these boots on!

I didn't think anything could be better than the Frye Sacha Moto Shootie, but this Shortie boot is SO gorgeous! I impulsively purchased them on sale, and while they were still expensive, I'm not sorry that I got them. I own five pairs of the Sacha Moto Shootie (I know, I know), so I know the quality and cost per wear will be worth it. They look great with almost anything, and are very comfortable. Frye makes the best quality footwear and I adore their style sense. They hit it out of the park with the Sacha Moto line.

These are a perfect basic black bootie. Looks good with jeans or dresses, and they're so comfortable! I have a standing desk at work and these don't make my feet hurt even by the end of day.

A little too snug, exchanged for 1/2 size larger, perfect. Love zappos. Amazing style, look super with skinny jeans. Have them in Cognac as well.

These are great looking boots with understated fashion details such as dual zippers and leather tucks. However, because they are designed to fit snuggly, they are also difficult to put on if you have a high arch. I am returning mine and hope to exchange them for 1/2 size larger. At present there is no size 9, so I will have to wait for 9 1/2 and hope for the best.

Gorgeous. Sending back because too narrow and the toe is more pointy than the pictured.

Love these. Leather is a bit stiff, but I think it will soften with wear. Cognac is a beautiful color. Pointy toe does not hurt my feet. Purchased my normal size. My only complaint is how loud the zippers jingle when I walk.

thought these would be perfect, 2 zippers, but they do not open all the way, I could not get them on, maybe they are for a young skinny girl, As far as quality 5 stars, but that did no help me.

They fit well and I am a fan of the Frye product. Searching for a cute, short boot but this particular style was too pointy for me. If you like more of a cowboy boot look on the toe, you'll like these. It's a good mix. I just prefer a more rounded toe.

Love, Love, Love these boots. If you are between sized 8 - 8 1/2, go with the 8. I even tried the 7 1/2 but didn't work. Great with everything!

I love these boots! They're a bit edgy while still being a classic style, and comfortable too. They were a bit stiff at first but they broke in pretty quickly. I'm usually a 7.5-8 and the 7.5 size fits well. I wore them constantly on a recent trip to Europe, and I don't think I'll be taking them off much this winter!

Although I am still breaking them in, I love these boots. They are edgy and look great with skinny jeans. The pointy toe helps elongate my legs. I think they are going to be my new go to shoe.

I'm a devoted fan of Frye. I love the quality and style. This didn't change with my recent purchase of the Frye Sacha Moto in Dark Grey Suede. I love the look and quality of the craftsmanship, but I don't love the fit of these boots. I'm an 8.5 in Frye but had to send them back in this style and get a 9.0. Now, the 9.0 is too big. My heel flops in it and they aren't that comfortable. I've worn them so can't return them. I thought, like my other Frye boots, that they'd break in and be comfortable, but I'm not experiencing that so far. I can't fault these boots for quality and style though...I love the way they look, but not the way they feel.

I don't understand the hype about fryes. This is my 3rd attempt and return. The leather is high quality, but so stiff! and the floor bed feels like i'm walking on wood. Tight in the toe box. I'm sure they would break in over time, but for $300+ I want comfort out of the box! As far as style, these are what I would consider fancy. The toes are super pointy and the smooth "vintage black" (whatever that means) is not at all worn looking. They looked weird with jeans.

I wanted to love them, they are Fryes!!! But right out of the box, way too stiff. Good leather is very stiff and needs to be worn in. I am slightly too old to have my feet hurt for two years while they wear in. Good looking booties, well made. Put a little grease on those zippers and you are on the way but, too stiff for these older bones.

For size reference, I'm an 8.5 in Campus, a 9 in Melissa, Carson, and Veronica I tried both an 8.5 and a 9 in these and went with the 9. The 8.5 technically fit, but the arch felt too high for my foot (never a problem with any other shoe) and I really struggled to get my foot in and out of the boot. With with 9, my toes fit perfectly, the arch didn't bother me, and my foot slid in and out easily. 9 for the win.

I bought the Sacha boot in black so many years ago I can't remember when I bought them. The aforementioned sentence should tell you everything you need to know about Frye boots. They make great style boots that are never trendy, their boots are extremely well made (heck they've been making boots since the 1800's), and given I can't remember how long I've owned my Sacha's, and I still love them as much today as the day I bought them, that should tell you something about Frye. Some Frye boots do run narrower then other's (Frye offers a great sizing chart), and I have a wide foot. I normally wear a 7 or 7.5, and I ended up buying the 7.5 in the Sacha's, and they fit just right. The boots required a very small break-in period (no blisters while breaking my Sacha's in), and today they are one of the most comfortable boots I own. I still receive compliments every time I wear them. The boots are made with leather that will turn butter soft in time, they have a long lasting leather sole, and the zippers work as good today as they did the day I bought them (i.e., Frye uses high quality hardware on all their boots). All in all Frye makes wonderful boots that are timeless in their styling, and are handcrafted with care using high quality leather. Frye boots are made to last a life time.
