I ordered several waterproof sport sandals for my son (thank you, Zappos, for great customer service and easy returns) and these Merrells were the winners. I tried "Kamik Kids Crab", "Geox Kids Jr. Kyle 5", and "Keen Kids Seacamp II CNX". These Merrell Kids Hydro were easiest to get on and off, were the best looking, and I like that the back of the heel is completely covered. I read reviews that said they did not get as stinky as Keens do. I have bought Keens for my kids every summer for 4 years and I can attest to the fact that Keens do get very stinky, even if you wash them. These Merrells seem to be better so far (for smell), but I'm not expecting a miracle! They did get smelly on a recent trip; I have washed them by hand (I wash the treads and inside the sandal with an old dish brush) and they smell better. My son's camp did "messy day" yesterday and the shoes came home with paint on them and a whole bunch of weird gunky stuff in the treads. I soaked them in a wide pail filled with 1" of water, scrubbed them, left them to dry, and they look great. They take about 24 h to dry. I do think they fit 1 size too large. (I ordered a size 3 and my son usually wears a size 4 these days.)

The Boy LOVES these and so does mom. We've tried the Keen water sandals my little fella's feet are just too wide to fit them and he refuses to wear them. He's between a 8-8.5 right now so I ordered these in 9W so we could get two years out of them. Really appreciate them having a W option for chunky little feet. I'd approximate that the 9 fits just a tad large for its size but the great news is that even being a whole size large, it fits my son's feet very comfortably. The stretch of the heel material and the strap keep his feet nicely secure in the shoe even though there is a full 1-1.5 sized space of toe room for him to grow into. Really great shoe and totally worth the price, particularly since we'll get a solid 2 years of wear out of them. Great job, Merrill! Thanks for knowing that toddler feet are a bit more Flintstoney than their grown counterparts.

This is a nice looking shoe, and I am usually a fan of Merrells for their durability and availability in wide widths. However, the sole of this shoe is very stiff and inflexible. The similar style from Pediped bends much more easily, which I feel is more appropriate for a child's foot. There really isn't any arch support in these, but from what I have seen that is the norm in this style shoe across brands.

They were very rough on the inside and the first thing my son said was complain about how the shoes were scratching his feet when walking. I returned them!

Excellent fit for Fred Flinstone feet. So durable, and wears well for rugged use. No blisters, easy on and off. My son and I love these, and will order again when he grows out of them. They’re easy to clean too.

So far so good. I love the rubber toe and how enclosed they are (daycare friendly!) while still being ok to go in the water. My little guy loves to scoot around on various rolling toys and he drags his toes on the ground so hopefully these will last better than cheap tennis shoes that get holes in the toe quickly. They seem solid and well made. He wore them most of the day with no socks and without complaint, and he generally prefers socks so that’s a great sign!

Great shoe! Did not fall apart before outgrowing. Fit my wide-footed child well. Probably wouldn't work for someone with a narrow foot. Overall, excellent. Will re-order in the next size up!

Loved the shoe but ... it's a very heavy shoe and my little boy is petite in size ... the shoe is overall too large for a petite sized boy

These are AMAZING! I’ve ordered these every year because my kids love them. My youngest gets the hand me down shoes and these always look in great condition when it’s his turn to wear them. The quality is awesome.

My son loves these shoes and could not wish to get a new pair this year. He barely waited for me to open up the box.

I have been purchasing these Merrell shoes since my son was a toddler. He turns 10 this year. These shoes are great quality and really last. That being said, they run really large. Given they don't come in half sizes, you can get stuck with them not fitting. The size 3 was way too big so I returned these shoes this time around. My son wears a 2.5 in other shoe brands. I would really like Merrell to offer half sizes.

Absolutely perfect straight out of the box. Sizing was on point, no break-in period at all and used daily for a 7 day adventure to Hawaii and all that entails. He had great grip on lava, was comfortable at the shops on hot days, perfect from the car to the perfect beach spot. And I sized them just a little larger so hopefully they’ll still fit when summer hits. Great shoe!

Very nice for the season and durable.

My grandson has very wide and flat feet (just like his grandpa) and these fit him very comfortably without side toe rubs. He wore them everywhere wet and dry all summer.

My three year old guy hates wearing shoes, but he puts these on without protest, and if we’re out and about, keeps them on willingly (all bets are off in our own backyard though!). He’s played hard in these since late spring and now we’re into mid-fall in a warmish climate and these shoes still have PLENTY of life left in them to be passed on. I’m seriously impressed- the tread barely looks worn and the stitching is all intact. These were even sent through the washer a few times. I will definitely buy his next size in the spring!
