Great hat! The key to proper sizing, based on both a direct chat with Filson and my own experience: All Filson hats are sized accurately, but very very close to the high-end of the stated range for each size. In my particular case - a 7 3/8" head - that would mean a L, but I got an XL at Filson's advice, and it's perfect. The L (which I've tried on in the past) would "just" fit, and Filson hats shrink after wetting. The XL starts out ever-so-slightly large, but slightly shrinks over time to perfect.

This hat is great. Looks good. Made of quality material and well made. Filson delivers hats in a nice box but Zappos pressed the hat flat and placed it in a flat, plastic shipping bag resulting in the canvas having lots of creases which was not professional in my opinion.

Filson products are always high-quality and this hat is no exception. I have a ridiculous amount of spring-loaded hair and a large head, so I always buy XXL’s. One-size-fits-all hats never work for me. I’m giving this five stars in all categories, because it truly is that good. Nonetheless, I had to return it because while the XXL provides the right circumference, it was not deep enough because evidently I also have a tall head.

As expected from Filson, this is an heirloom-quality hat that will last a lifetime and is made from quality materials. It runs a little small, so consider that during your purchase. I normally wear hat size 7 5/8 and am so glad I bought size XXL instead of following Filson's size chart. The hat fits perfectly. Size XL would have been too small. I bought a black hat, which makes me look a bit like The Shadow, but feel it's the most versatile color. Highly recommended.

Great hat. Brim is not too wide and medium fits better although I usually take a small. This will be great for fishing and golf in the fall. Otter green is a good color, still dark but more interesting than black.

I liked this hat, especially the color. I also like that the brim is not too big and floppy. I usually wear a small but this was too small. I'm exchanging it for a medium.

I almost hesitate to say how much I like this hat because I don't want anyone else but me to be wearing one, but damn, it's a great hat. To the reviewer who said its headband wasn't leather, you are incorrect. It is in fact leather. This hat will be with me for the rest of my life. Classic shape, bomb-proof construction. Excellent in all seasons.

Great sun hat! It is so hard to find a hat that isn't too warm, isn't too big/floppy, and doesn't look like something a grandma might wear. I hate the big festival-style hat trend so this provides coverage without looking like an idiot.

The size was a bit tight when I first out it on, but after wearing for a day, it shaped to my head and it now fits very well. the material is great and it looks like it is strong enough to last a long time. The hat is warmer than I expected, and I live in a place where temperature is between 14- 20 degree Celsius. But it is a nice hat overall.

Very disappointed. The band appears to be plastic, and it's glued on with some kind of cheap plastic adhesive that started coming off the moment I got this hat out of the box. And under the band, the hat's not even finished; there's an open hem all the way around the top where the brim is attached. Can't believe this is supposed to be a $50+ hat. It's of the quality I'd expect spending $8.99 at the five and dime. Honestly, I'm very surprised this dumb thing gets any positive reviews. Oh, and the size large I ordered is too small to even get on my head! Looks nice in the picture, though.
