I really wanted to love these! I read every review, debated forever, and finally pulled the trigger. They are sadly not at all what I need in a hiking boot, other than looking adorable. The way the tongue folds as a gusset creates a bulky lump that gets more and more uncomfortable the longer I wore them. (It's possible my feet are weird or I received a defective pair, but I don't think so.) Maybe some day I'll try them again, they are SUPER cute. I also prefer better ankle support when hiking, so I'm probably better off having found a more serious boot.

I read most of the reviews. I love these boots but I have to agree that the back above the heel is stiff and uncomfortable. I am returning them as I don't have the time to "break them in". no arch support but they do provide a insert. I am returning as for the cost, I feel they should fit comfortably without having to have my heel suffer in the process.

It says this shoe runs a half size bigger. Not true, it’s 100% true to size. I need to go back to my size 9s. I’m sad that these didn’t fit because I loved them so much the moment I opened the box.

NOT a hiking boot. Popular as a fashion boot but I wanted an actual hiking boot for an alpine trek. NOT this boot! Returned.

These boots are a fashion statement only. My first pair of "hiking boots" were Danners back in the 1970's. There were very few choices then and they gave me blisters. In those days we were told we had to "break in" our boots. That's a ridiculous idea now. If you want the look then go ahead and buy them but seriously, not if you plan to hike.

DON'T BUY THESE BOOTS! I am so hugely disappointed. I have never spent more money on a pair of boots ever--but the cute style and cute style blogger who assured me these were comfy and warm for a trip to Iceland convinced me they would be wonderful. I was advised to wear them around the house to break them in and then take to the great outdoors. I am usually a 9, sometimes 8.5 in boots. A 9 in a sneaker, sometimes an 8.5. I can be an 8 or 8.5 in a shoe. I bought the 8.5--sent back--too big, the slippage hurt my heel. I bought the 8, wore them around the house, bought and used the conditioner several times, got the 1/2 insole from Danner and kept thinking...I hope these break in. When I finally decided to walk 2 miles in them to really break them in I ended up with red, raw, bleeding blisters on the back of my ankles! I can't return them now since I wore them outside. Maybe the 7.5 would have been better, but I've never been a 7.5 and the boots 8 didn't feel big. $360 down the drain....I will never buy anything Danner again and neither should you. I'm probably going to have to spend more $$ for a soft comfy, supportive pair of Merrells!
