This is a basically fine shoe that has a fatal flaw -- the front of the sole (the area over the ball of the foot) is just too thin, and as a result you can feel rocks, roots, etc. right through the boot and it's unnerving and uncomfortable. Too bad -- otherwise the boot is very comfortable and feels like a true ultra-wide, which is what I need. This boot is fine for a smooth path or a sidewalk -- but not for a rugged trail.

Women with large feet, take note! I generally wear an 11 or 11.5 women's shoe, 12 in athletic shoes, with a narrow heel and wide ball. Unfortunately, women's hiking boots stop at size 11, and they run small - I ordered and returned an 11 from every single brand Zappo's carries because every last one was too short. Men's boots, however, present another problem - they are almost always too wide in the heel, and very few brands offer a narrow width. Except Dunham! I ordered these in a men's 11 narrow and they fit BEAUTIFULLY. The heel area hugs my foot perfectly, while the toe box is nice and wide (I love to be able to spread and wiggle my toes in shoes, and very few brands make the toe box wide enough to accommodate this). The men's 11 is maybe a little larger than I would choose in a tennis shoe, but for hiking it is perfect - will accommodate a thicker sock and insert. I agree with the other reviews stating that the cushioning under the ball of the foot seems thin, but an appropriate insert will solve that issue. The way the grommets are situated allows for optimal tightening of the laces at the ankle for an excellent, secure fit. Finally, while they are not as cute as women's styles, they are not hideously clunky and you won't feel like you're wearing your dad's work boots. I am thrilled to have found these!

This is the third pair of Cloud boots that I have owned. My go-to shoes for Minnesota fall/winter/spring. Use them in the summer when working in the pits at a race track. Have worn them when hiking on three continents. Durable and probably the most comfortable footwear that I have placed on my size 4E feet.

WAS LOOKING FOR A COMBO HIKING AND WINTER BOOT FOR MODERATE SNOWFALLS. HAVE 2 PAIRS OF DUNHAM CASUAL SHOES FOR WORK SO I KNEW I WAS GETTING A QUALITY BOOT THAT WOULD FIT PROPERLY.WHEN THEY ARRIVED THEY SLIPPED RIGHT ON MY FEET AND FELT TRUE TO WIDTH. I HAVE A 8.5 4E AND THESE WERE PERFECT,ACTUALLY FELT A LITTLE WIDER THAN USUAL BUT NOT IN A BAD WAY. THE LENGTH FELT A LITTLE BIGGER THAN MY SHOES SO I CALLED ZAPPOS AND THE AWESOME REP SAID HE WOULD SEND OUT THE 8 4E OVERNIGHT FOR ME TO COMPARE. AS PROMISED I RECEIVED THEM THE NEXT DAY AND MADE THE CONCLUSION THAT THE 8.5 4E, MY SIZE, WAS THE BETTER FIT. ZAPPOS AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE PROVIDED ME WITH THE RETURN SHIPPING LABEL AND THE FOLLOWING DAY THE 8 4E'S WERE BACK IN TRANSIT. TOOK THEM FOR A 2 MILE HIKE TODAY UP ANTHONY'S NOSE IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY. FOR THOSE OF YOU FAMILIAR WITH THIS TRAIL YOU KNOW ITS STEEP AND ROCKY FOR THE FIRST 1/2 MILE OR SO. MY HIKING PARTNER ONLY HAD ON SNEAKERS AND SHE WAS HAVING A HARD TIME BALANCING AND GRIPPING. THESE SHOES WERE NOT ONLY COMFORTABLE THEY PROVIDED EXCELLENT ANKLE SUPPORT. FELT LIKE I HAD ALL TERRAIN TIRES ON MY FEET. THEIR LIGHTWEIGHT MADE THEM BARELY NOTICEABLE. GREAT SHOE, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE ON THE HIGHER END OF THE PRICE BRACKET, BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. COULDN'T TEST THE WATERPROOFNESS OF THEM. WINTER WILL SHOW ME THAT.

It is impossible for me to find boots that fit. I wear a B width, and I can usually choose between New Balance and SAS, and that's it. These are amazing, and a perfect fit, which is good, since they are only waterproof shoes in my size I can find. They do seem a little darker all around than they look in this photo, which I like! Also, they seem more like a waterproof walking shoe than a boot. The bottom is thinner and more flexible than other similar looking "boots". So they may not be ideal for hiking on rocky terrain. But for an everyday waterproof walking shoe in Seattle, they are perfect.

This is a great boot, with excellent support and exceptional comfort at the ankle. I went through two pairs of this same boot in women's size (that's me) and wore it on city streets and back country with equal success. I now need the width of men's 4e in front but have normal heel, and the lacing allows for accommodating these adjustments. These are not waterproof if you are hiking in a serious downpour of some time, but in light rain or the occasional puddle they are fine. The protected toe will also help with snow. Please keep making these! Accomodates orthotics well. Deep toe box.

This is my first experience with Dunham hikers - I used to enjoy New Balances waterproof hiking boot - until they quit making them! But they started leaking after 6 months...maybe thats why?! These are incredibly comfortable! I'm pleasantly surprised - the foot bed is soft and comfortable, and plenty of room in the toe box. The hooks for the laces are much lower than I'm accustomed to - but they sure hold the shoe to my foot well when I'm running after the dog! Time will tell if their waterproofness holds up - but for the dozen+ times I've worn them so far - I've been wading thru 2" of standing water on the sidewalks on dog walks and I'm completely dry!

I had 3 pair of clouds from 2005(?) that I wore for 10 years without a problem so I thought I'd try a new pair. I could tell by the outsoles that they were not serious hiking boots like the older ones. They run a 1/4" narrower and shorter and do not give much ankle support. But the main problem is that after 5 months they started intermittently squeaking and by 8 months they squeak constantly (it sounds like a quacking duck). I can walk over low pile carpet and they Squeak. It must be internal. I am just waiting for them to fall apart. I will not buy them again.

I bought these for my college aged son, for the winter, walking across his college campus. He instantly liked the idea and look of them and was very pleased with the fit and comfort. (He needs the wider widths, and it's hard to find shoes to fit him that don't look old and orthopedic.) His older brother was jealous and impressed with them as well!

Not the quality typically associated with Dunham products. They are 1.5 years old, but not really worn that often, and the soles are separating from the boot. Not sure if they claimed to be waterproof - but they're not.

I am a heavy guy, and these feel great to wear. They have held up nicely. They are a bit narrow, but so well made that my wide feet haven't worn them out too quickly.

Great boot for those with large, wide feet. I bought the 11.5 4E for my son. We climbed Mount Washington via Huntington Ravine and the boots gripped the rocks and held up very well. His is very happy with the purchase and can't believe how comfortable they felt while hiking.

I'm hard to fit because of bunions. Thus, I need a wide toe box but a narrow heel. As a result, especially with boots, they're either too cramped in the toe box or my heel slips around like crazy. But these work. In addition, you can put them on and take them off in a snap, with little fuss. They are lightweight, but nonetheless, are sturdy and supportive. Excellent buy.

These boots fit great. They're nice and light for walking in snow and rain. They're not insulated so if you wear them in very cold weather you need to keep walking.

I've had these shoes two years now. (I'm usually skeptical about next day reviews.. )
They've held up to every other day use, and retained their waterproof capability. I figure in another year I'll buy another pair.

The Dunham Cloud arrived one day late due to the shipper's difficulties. The shoes felt great right out of the box. My orthotics (two in one shoe) fit well and shoes were roomy enough to handle both. I wear a size 11.5 4E and Dunham came through again with both measurements. I have another pair of hiking boots, from 2005, which show some tread wear but look great still. My only complaint is the laces being too short to tie a double knot which is needed with round laces. A 72 inch lace should fix this. Color was exactly as advertised and padding is better than expected.

The toe box had plenty of room, wide was truly wide, and it's a nice looking shoe. My issue was that after awhile my feet started to sweat even though the material was supposed to breathe. So after a few hours the exterior kept the water out but my socks were wet from sweat, not a pleasant feeling. Construction was good, fit was true and would be fine for a limited time but for hours not so much. Overall Merrill is a good brand and I have Merrill hiking boots, but these just didn't work out for me.

The fit was good. I wear them once a week to do my lawn which takes about 3 hours. After 15 months, the stitching on one shoe began to separate.
I'll be trying another brand.

Love the shoe, but I would hope that they should past more than 10 months. The seams are already starting to tear. :-(

By the end of two years, the rubber has delaminated in several spots where it was glued and some of the stitching has opened up. Granted, I wear them almost everyday and work them hard. Just wish they had held up longer. Otherwise comfortable and good fit.

The fit of the shoe was horrible. I believe that this particular pair was mislabeled for size. When I compared it to other shoes I own, this pair was visibly smaller by at least one full size. But, the quality looked really good, so I'm returning this pair and ordering the same style and size again.

Actually fit my wide flat feet. VERY comfortable and well shaped toe box. Immediately replaced the insert but the included was superior to most. Was worried about higher top not being comfortable around ankles on long hike days. Totally comfortable from the get go. Felt more sure footed scrambling in these and the tie down loops at the top work very well.

Fantastic boots. Have put miles and miles on them since I purchased in Jan 2022. They've kept my feet dry and are good for any terrain. Time to get a new pair!
