I shouldn't have expected this to be the same thing I remember from 30 years ago. I should have known better. The whole footbed is plastic now not wood. the strap on the top is velcro closure, which sticks to my pants-hem, like the old buckle didn't. The plastic footbed bends in a weird way when i take a step. I'm really not into these at all. They were so much better when they were wood and you could buy them for $10-15 in the supermarket.

I wore these (the original wooden ones) all summer long when I was a teenager and I loved them. I switched from the wooden to the "classic" and recently purchased a new pair. While I still love the style and comfort of the shoe, I was totally unprepared for the VELCRO, which I must say I don't like. Makes me feel a little like an old lady and while that may not be too far off, I am not yet ready to name and claim old age. I will keep them however because they were/are comfortable and the price was good. May I suggest however, that you add velcro to the description of the shoe so folks are not thrown by it. Thanks and have a great day!

I purchased these for my mother, who lived in Dr. Scholl's throughout my entire childhood. They are very pretty and well made, and she really likes them. However, she says they are missing the traditional "bump." If you were a fan of that, you will be somewhat disappointed that feature seems to have been discontinued. Nonetheless, she is pleased with these in terms of their style and comfort.

I have work Dr. Scholl's for years. The strap on the model I received adjusts with velcro - not with the buckle as I expected and as has always been the case in the past. The velcro was a disappointing downgrade...

Over the years, I have owned several pairs of this basic one strap sandal style with various footbed materials. This model, however, was not the same as the others--there is no toe bar or arch bump, and the shape of the toe is not as round as other models, so it won't work for my foot shape. The actual strap (cut-out black leather) I liked a lot, but not the shiny gold colored buckle. If the footbed was what I was expecting, I would have kept them and painted the buckle, but sadly, I was disappointed and will be returning them.

Expectations - Reality = Disappointment I had these in every color years ago and wanted a new pair for summer this year. The heel is NOT real wood anymore. For those unfamiliar, these were once constructed with real wood from actual trees back in the olden times when I was in middle school in 2004. I understand some people may not find wood comfortable, but wasn't the point that they were supposed to be for "exercise" or something? People can wear crocs if they want to walk in comfort on plastic foam. And by the way, I never found the wooden ones to be uncomfortable at all, nor did anyone else I knew that wore these. They look (and are) cheap and synthetic. The quality of the "faux" leather strap also seems lesser than it was before. The strap material looks like something Barbie would have a purse made out of (i.e. not for adult women). The fake wood combined with the sorry pleather strap really pulls together the "$10 footwear" look. ?? And, if you care about the oceans and our environment, you can also be saddened by one more thing being made of plastic rather than natural, biodegradable material. I am returning them. This is sad. Would love to hear the rationale from Dr. Scholl's for destroying this classic and replacing it with this garbage. All of this this being said, I bought "Dr. Scholl's Womens Frazzle - Original Collection Black Neoprene" and LOVE them. Two for two was too much to ask I suppose, but perhaps there's hope for Dr. Scholl's yet!

These looked nice but when they came they were extremely cheap looking. I think they were plastic and if you had to move the strap they were marred. Terribly uncomfortable too. Going back.

even though they are not what i expected, i like them & i will keep them. i owned these sandals a million years ago so i thought "classic" would mean the original style. wrong. and here's what's different: these are not made of wood....totally synthetic, but comfortable. also, the buckle is not adjustable because it's actually a VELCRO strap with a buckle decoration (which is NOT mentioned in the description). it caught me off guard but somehow, it works. oh, and the gold buckle and studs are a nice touch.

Dr. Scholl's made in wood had better arch support. The new material does not work. Poor arch support and no grip in the shoes.

This is not the old style Dr Scholls that I wore religiously a few years back. The entire sole is rubber, and flexes. Which might sound like a good thing, but it twists in a weird way, making your foot slide around.

I used to love Dr Scholl's exercise sandals. Bought them for years. Now, the "original" hardwood model doesn't fit like it did; and even these "classic" are apparently made more and more cheaply. The sole on the classic I just received from Zappos is so flimsy and squishy that the shoe feels unwearable to me. I bought a pair of "classic" (manmade sole)perhaps a year and a half ago, and they're great. Yet the ones I just received are complete pieces of junk-- for 50 bucks...? I just don't get it. Herr Doctor, you've made a product well for years. Why cheapen it down to an unwearable mess and alienate loyal customers? What a bummer-- used to love your excersise sandals so much!

I have three par of these and am purchasing more. The synthetic soles make the shoes so comfortable. I have Plantar fasciitis and I wear these and my feet feel great all day! Please make more colors or prints like leopard.

I love, love these shoes!! They are comfortable right out of the box. They are very light and flexible, unlike the original Dr. Scholl's with the wooden footbed. You can drive in these and walk around all day without any discomfort at all!! Because these shoes are flexible, there is no lump on the footbed for your toes to hang on to. I have been wearing the original exercise sandals since I was a teenager and always loved them, but these are a real treat! Finally, new and improved is actually improved. You will live in these sandals. I have the navy and the black with polka dots. Super cute!! True to size..

I was very disappointed that instead of the buckle there is a velcro. Cannot be seen on any of the pictures and it is misleading, velcro can't replace the good-ol' buckle. I live in those sandals during the summer months and that includes gardening. Very skeptical if these will last even one season (older models lasted me two or three years).

These shoes are cute and comfortable, but they are WAY OVERPRICED considering their lack of durability: the main issue is that compared to past version of this show, or even other shoes, the soles are visibly worn down in a SINGLE WEEK! In other words, the soles are considerably softer and less sturdy than past versions, and will likely not last more than a few months. Additionally, the BUCKLE IS A PLASTIC DECORATION! It's not a real buckle - the closure uses velcro, which in and of itself isn't bad, just disappointingly cheap (it's already showing scratches, and I'm worried that some sort of issue will result in it getting crushed and ruining the style - making them unwearable). What Dr. Scholls' should do is keep these as-is - but sell them for $15. They'd be a really great shoe for that price!

I have been wearing Dr. Scholl’s sandals forever, first the wooden soles, then the new flexible ones. I bought these thinking they were the new flexible ones I had loved, just in a cool color. They are cheap, cheap, cheap. Flimsy sole. The part that looks like a buckle is just for show - it actually closes with Velcro. The rivets started coming out, and they’re not even that comfy. I’m so disappointed that Dr. Scholl’s has cheaped out.

I was very disappointed to discover that the base of these shoes is made from rubber and not from wood like the original Dr. Scholl's. That is why I am sending them back.

The leather? or man made material upper was too rough. Not like the old ones from the 60s

I was extremely disappointed with these shoes. I had a pair back in the early 80s and was hoping these would be a close replica. I should have read the description in a bit better. The “flexible sole” means rubber/plastic. Not wood and there is no contour under the toes. Also, the buckle is just for show. It’s actually Velcro! I sent them back immediately. What a cheap ugly product.

These are beyond awful. The material is so rough I scraped my foot trying to put it on. Very disappointed. The material looks very cheap.
