I see there is a review here that complains about the upper being "tissue thin". I think that's precisely the point. I love the fact that the leather is thinner and supple. IT DOESN'T HURT MY ANKLES!! Other Docs are so awkwardly stiff that it hurts even after they "break in". I think they look more feminine this way as well! And guess what, I've had them for a year now and they haven't "stretched out". Pull on the tab that's provided when putting them on and you won't have that problem... ;) The rest of the boot is extremely sturdy and they are my go-to motorcycle riding boots.

If you are a longtime DM-wearer, you will laugh at how thin this leather is. I have Pascals from 2 yrs ago, made in Buttero leather, which are 3x as thick as these. This new Virginia leather is tissue weight, and actually makes it hard to wear the boot. There's not enough substance around the ankle to balance the weight of the sole. They end up being more uncomfortable than my older and stiffer Docs. They are also narrower than they used to be, and narrower than the 1460W (which I also ordered). I guess they are compensating for the thin leather which will stretch out quickly. If you don't mind the floppy ankles, and that these are "fashion Docs" not real boots, you might like them because they still at least look good. If you are used to substantial boots, I would look at the 1460 instead.

I had a shooting accident while wearing these boots. Let's just say, I did not have permanent damage to my foot and by keeping the boot on it keep the bleeding to a minimum while I had it on. You could barely see the hole in the boot. I am a fan!

I'm posting this review to help others regarding sizing of these boots. I am a true size 8, and purchased the black pascal virginia leather boots in a women's US size 8. I was worried after reading some of the reviews online that they would be too large, but that isn't the case. If anything, these seem to run a bit smaller/narrower than the 1460's I'm used to wearing. So glad I didn't purchase a smaller size, as some reviewers suggested. My second day of wearing them, and they already are feeling better/seem to be conforming to my foot. I think these will end up being my most comfortable shoes. There is an issue with the top of the boot seeming a bit tights, but I oiled the leather and stuffed some thick balls of socks in the boots overnight, and today they feel very comfortable. Hope this helps some of you who are deciding on what size to get. I would say these run true to size/slightly smaller than typical docs.

First of all the reason I'm writing this review at all is because of the amazing service that I got from Zappo's !! I was so impressed with how quickly we got the boots . I placed order for a size 9 on Oct 16 around 8pm EST.for my daughter . The boots arrived the next day at like 3 PM to my surprise . She is normally a solid 8 1/2 , but boot only comes in whole sizes. I knew right away boot was going to be too big when i unpacked it . So with that I definitely recommend ordering next size down in this boot if you are a 1/2 size. I called Zappos explained that I needed an 8 & was wondering how quickly I could get them b/c it was my daughters 18th birthday the next day. The lady not only said NP she said they would ship out for next day delivery w/ no charge to my CC as long as they received the first shipment back within a week or 10 days something like that. I shipped out that day and as promised the boots arrived the next day and my daughter was thrilled!! But not as thrilled as I was to know that she would no longer be stealing mine!!

I’m a true 8 1/2 US but because these don’t come in half sizes I got a 9US OR UK 7. They are definitely a size 9US which is why I say true to size. Are they a half size too big, kinda, but thick socks do the trick. If your a half size, I suggest going up, not down.

My 23 year old son said, "Mom, you can pull these off at your age." Now I have to say they go with everything are comfortable for being on my feet all day. I get compliments and tell how they really can go with everything. I am so glad I bought these and wear them almost daily when I am not wearing the engineer Doc Martens. On my feet all day working and when I shop need comfy shoes close to huge shopping centers where you have much walking to do. They are also hard to find and I found them at Zappos.

I’m not sure how ppl can say these run large. I wear a US 9 so I ordered the UK7. The shoe seemed to fit the length of my foot but it was so narrow that it made my toes tingle. I decided to try the 10 since there are no half sizes and while it’s a tad big, it’s not too big and the width fits me so much better. If you pay attention to the inches, the 10 equivalent is 10.18 inches. A US9 is typically 10 inches so the 10 makes more sense. These shoes are perfect style wise so I’m glad I was able to make them work.

I tried on and returned several versions of Dr Martens boots - all were seriously uncomfortable. I couldn't imagine how I ever used to wear them 20 (30? ugh) years ago when they were my favorites (still kicking myself I got rid of them at some point). I've read a lot about how they're made in different countries now, they're different quality than they used to be, etc. So I was pretty bummed and almost gave up on my quest to own another pair. I tried other brand's boots with a similar look - none of them felt good on my admittedly picky feet. Finally I tried the Pascal -- immediately comfortable. The leather is way softer and thinner than other styles of Docs. I wonder if that'll affect their longevity but I don't care - they feel great and I love them. I wear an 8 normally and got the UK6/Women's 8 and they're perfect. I do have to wear thick socks with them but I would anyway. They're heavy but somehow don't feel heavy walking around - I think the soles' bounciness makes up for the weight. Definitely happy with them.

Great Docs. The Pascal has a slightly slimmer profile than other Dr Martens. I think they look a bit more flattering on women. Not so clunky but still a great boot with more than a little attitude.

I bought these as a gift for my niece and debated between these and the Originals and am very glad I chose the Pascal. Because the leather is thinner, there was no stiffness nor break in period. My niece was thrilled with these.

I usually wear a 7.5-8 and the 7 was too small and the 8 fit perfectly. The sole is like walking on air. I love them.

I returned these because they weren't quite my style, but I'm rethinking that decision since they were actually a great shoe! The top part was thinner than I was expecting but really soft and felt like they wouldn't make my foot overheat. Overall they were great and I may reorder them once I get the confidence to wear a combat boot!

I have always wanted these boots. They are killers! The sewn seam at the tongue is so tight, I can't imagine anyone being able to stand it. I have narrow feet, there is no way these can fit anyone. I took to shoe repair, nothing they can do. So sad to return!!

I love Doc Martens and own several pairs, but this pair was purchased just this past September and the soles are already peeling apart and on one boot, the sole has already separated from the boot. I wish I had read the Amazon reviews before purchasing.

This is my first pair of dr martens. I usually wear size 8, sometimes 8.5 because my right foot is larger than my left. Since reviews said these ran big i thought the 8 would fit me. Ended up being very uncomfortable on my toes on my right foot. I exchanged for the 9’s and these were a tad big but no discomfort on my toes. I think theyll be fine if i wear with thicker socks.

Got these for my 15 yr old, she debated it a bit because they are pretty chunky and not inconspicuous, but kept them and loves them now. They are a roomy fit I would say, so you can wear them with thicker socks for sure. comfortable soles, as advertised. Lot of lacing and unlacing required, obvi

Great boots. Rugged look that goes with anything. I ordered 1 size down from my regular size 8 boots size in order to get a comfortable fit with thin socks. Thicker socks will be comfortable after it stretches.

I normally wear a 9 1/2 US, so I ordered a 9 after reading other people's reviews. They fit perfectly! They required no break in and were comfortable enough to wear all day the first time I put them on. I'm a teacher and am on my feet all day. I have worn them 3-4 times per week since I got them.

I absolutely LOVE these boots. This style is slightly less bulky as the originals I think, much better for a girl especially if you plan to wear with a dress. I am normally a 7.5 in all my shoes so I sized down to a US 7 in these and they fit perfect. Hurts a little under the tongue on first or second wear, and then it's gone. Great ankle support but not too much. I crawl around and play with my baby boys outside a lot and these weren't restricting at all. 5 stars all the way.

The leather is soft & beautiful as is the quality in the stitching and workmanship. I'm usually a true size 11 and these ran large. Also, even with thick socks on, the ankles were too large and I couldn't cinch the laces tight enough to get a supportive fit. Sadly, I'm going to have to return them, and I'm hesitant to go a full size down.

I am always an 8.5, super consistent here. The size 8 with these fits me perfectly. They are comfortable, they are super soft, and they are very stylish. Would recommend.
