Comfortable, true to size, great quality. Smell like leather because they are leather. Spiffy enough for a job interview, tough enough for a shin-kicking match at the pub. Soft, quiet sole so you can sneak up on the chump with the clackitty pair of John Varvatos and high-water slacks. Toe a little mud onto his mint-colored socks without him even knowing. Nahmean? Be a good lad and get some leather conditioner. Black shoe polish from your valet's cupboard will work, but will darken them a bit. I'd recommend something for saddle leather that won't strip the antique-looking finishing wax. Don't use mink oil. Felt a bit narrow at first, but after a few pints and a night out on the moor they were right as rain.

I only tried one on around the house. But I love look and feel. I look forward to stepping out in my fine new, fall boot.

This is a great boot. Stylish broguing. Can be dressed up or worn with jeans. Nice, aggressive sole for winter weather. Comfortable from the moment I put them on. Note that the darker shading on the toe and heel is not just part of the photography, they are shaded darker. Also, the neck the boot is long, so I found that a shoe horn was helpful when pulling the boot on. This boot is exactly what I was looking for.

These are really nice boots. The color (charcoal) is rather unusual--it's almost like they started with a really dark brown leather, then layered on some black, then over-layered that with a really dark gray. As a result, the boots pick up whatever color they are put with, and work with just about everything. I bought them for my husband to wear with a Victorian costume (gray striped trousers) and they look great. He says he'll also wear them with jeans--and this from a man who really doesn't like to dress "fancy" but will do it to appease me...! Otherwise, fabulous fit and quality, as always, from Clarks.

I have owned these boots for two weeks now and have received many complements on them. They pair well with jeans and black khaki/cords. They appear black in the photo but are really a black/charcoal grey and lighten as you walk in them which provides a vintage look. I added Inserts for additional padding.

The "wing-tip" design is very coarse, not so casual. Sole is very thick. This is much more of a work boot than casual boot. They run very large! I ordered size 12 but could easily have been an 11. If you like chunky, you will like these. I like a slightly more refined look [with vibram sole!] for a casual work shoe that also works in the snow.
