I typically wait a couple weeks before reviewing shoes, but wanted to give a quick (well, probably not too quick) comment on sizing. This is my first pair of Clarks, so I went to school and studied reviews of ALL Clarks shoes and boots. There's general consensus that Clarks run large; how large seems to vary from a half size to a full size. So I rolled the dice and ordered a full size smaller than my normal shoe (I'm a 12 in EVERY shoe I own, but ordered an 11). I didn't get too excited when they arrived since I expected I'd probably have to return them for 11.5's; I was pleasantly shocked when I tried them on -- they fit perfect, with room to spare in the toe box. So I threw on some thick hiking socks and went for a 4 mile break-in walk. Starting off the Duke's felt a little narrow and definitely stiff, but by the time I finished they had loosened up a bit. So after only 3 days, I've gotta go with 5 stars. The Montacutes look awesome, they're finely crafted inside and out, and the fit is perfect. Some reviewers commented negatively about the ankle rub -- to me, that's a non-issue that I expect will be mitigated after break-in. I'll update if these don't live up to the awesomeness of the first few days. As always, AMAZING zappos.com service!!

Brilliant shoe! This well tailored shoe is tremendously well designed. It is styled to appear like a boot, and the sole offers a lot more flexibility and support than a dress shoe, but there is no denying that this is a very handsome shoe, that looks like a boot. The finish is distressed at the toe, and scratched throughout, and really makes it look good. The contrast stitching is very pleasing, and the fit and support are top notch. If you tend to wear narrow cuffs, the laces will almost inevitably land on your cuff line, so pants will likely rest on the knot of your shoes. If you're okay with that, or wear wider cuffed pants, then Bob's your uncle.

I liked the Black one's so much that I also bought the Brown. They are comfortable but SKIN very, very easily. I seem to have to polish after every wearing. These just scuff way too easily.

This is a great shoe! It's stylish, very comfortable, the color is great, and it's reasonably priced. I liked it so much, I ordered another pair in black.

These are probably the most comfortable and nice looking shoes I've ever owned! They hold up in bad weather, are comfortable for wearing all day and go with slacks or jeans.They are the best!

I get a lot of compliments on these shoes. Runs 1/2 size larger than my usuall clarks size. Comfortable

The style is fantastic - rugged sole with sort of a cowboy boot toe area. The leather looks good but it takes time to break in.

It took a few days to break these in but once I did they're very comfortable and I like their look. Silly issue but no more than a month after wearing them one of the laces started to fray to the point that it broke. For someone like me that loves the ease of online shopping I hate to have to go to a shoe store to find replacement laces especially after only wearing for a month. By the way, I bought online so I wouldn't have to go to a bricks and mortar store. With all that said, I still like the shoes.

I was looking for something stylish but snow worthy. These turned out to be very comfortable as well. Would have preferred to see a better quality lining for the price of the shoe.

Visually this boot is pretty bland and had less style than I was expecting. This boot (which is kind of between a Doc Martin style boot and chukka) rises quite high on the ankle. While wearing these around the house the top was very stiff and rubbed right on my ankle bone. Sole had good traction but over all the shoe was just uncomfortable and I'm not convinced they will break in over time. I'll be sending these back.
