I live in New England - increasingly, with falls and winters that have more rain and wind than snow, it seems - and have spent the past few months searching high and low for the perfect in-between jacket to carry me between my summer and winter outwear. I wanted something elevated, yet practical and most importantly - warm and waterproof. This is it! Funny enough, I never thought to look outside the bounds of LL Bean or Lands' End until a coworker suggested Moosejaw, which is where I initially found this coat. I was thrilled to find a larger color section at Zappos, including the beluga, which I wound up ordering (and keeping) - a beautiful, darker olive green, with a slight pewter undertone. It looks great with the jeans and sweater I'm wearing, and I can definitely see myself pairing this with a dress or more formal clothes over the upcoming holiday season. Though it's waterproof and thus slightly glossy, the finish is mostly matte; I love that the shape is slim cut, with sleeves that hit the perfect length and circumference. For reference, I'm an athletic 5'4" and about 132ish pounds, and was swimming in an LL Bean size XS; I typically wear between a 4 and 6 in clothes otherwise. But again, let's talk about the warmth: yes, it's only October, but I'm already chilly - and I just took this for a test run on what is to be first of many wet, windy days ahead, and stayed both perfectly dry and cozy. Again, I'm a frugal lady - willing to spend when it's absolutely justified; preferably secondhand where possible - and I paid full price for this jacket. The only things I'd change are the length - if it hit the knee, I probably wouldn't take it off, but mid-thigh is fine - and snaps versus velcro on the cuffs. I hope this helps!

Helly Hansen falls on the slimmer side, FYI. (I’m a size 4: 5ft 1 in/119lbs/34 DD, 25-26 waist, 35-36 hips). The small fits but is on the snug side; I can put this on/zip it up and wear it only with thin layers. If I tried to wear anything bulky—I’d look like an encased sausage!! I love the look of this jacket. It’s sporty, stylish and warm. Unfortunately, the small was too fitted and the medium was too big. Zappos return service made it easy to return! I wished this would have worked out!

This was almost exactly the jacket that I wanted but I had to return it. The sleeves were too short and I just couldn't deal with it. Im 5'9 and 120lb and the small fit alright except the shoulders didn't have any give. I worried that the medium would be too baggy and the sleeves still short so I sent it back. The search continues...

I got an xl. I’m usually a size medium or large in most clothes but this runs similar to NorthFace as far as sizing. Also, I wanted room for a sweater and a light Barbour vest. I got this to wear in December in Scotland - so cold and rain. It IS WATERPROOF & most coats that say they are - are not. I chose this over the heavier down NorthFace because I tend to be hot. This was perfect. I wore it horseback riding, out shooting skeet in 20degrees with wind, and heavy rain with wind. My only criticism would be the hood - it’s cut so that it’s hard to see when walking in cities and needing to see street signs, traffic, etc. I’d still buy it again.

This jacket is just the best!! I love Helly Hansen products and this one is a perfect example. It's so warm and it's waterproof. The color is beautiful - it's a mix of dark green, brown, grey -- looks good with everything. I always wear a medium in HH - I'm 5'3", 140 lbs.

Very chic.. lil snug, but overall love.. I suggest sizing up if you have a little junk inn the trunk :) It has shape, not a big box. I like that it gives us some shape. I've worn everyday. Perfect coat for Seattle rain and wind. LOV LOV this brand. HH please bring more slight A line jackets. HH is the best

I ordered a Small because this is my size usually (occasionally need XS) and I just bought Helly Hansen Adore Parka in Small and it swims on me. In fact, it is so large, I ordered XS after receiving the Small to see if it would not make me look so amorphous. The XS fit in body but was too tight on top. So I felt confident, assuming Helly Hansen is consistent in the sizing of its coats, that a Small in the Long Belfast winter jacket would give me plenty of room. Immensely disappointed. It is smaller than the XS in the H.H. Adore parka. I could zip it up but couldn't move my arms. I bought green which is the only color I like and the medium is sold out, but going from Small to Medium is two numeric sizes larger so it doesn't help to go up or down if a coat that does not have discrete sizes is too small or large. I need the coat in the next size. Wish companies would starts selling in numeric sizes so people could get a good fit. If you wear a Small and will buy one of the remaining colors, order Medium and hope it's not too big. I no longer hold Helly Hansen sin high esteem for it's lack of uniformity in sizing in its own brand. It's a crap shoot what size to order.

I love this jacket. It's lightweight warm and covers all the areas you don't want that cold blast of winter air hitting. This is my first time buying this brand and I've had the jacket now for a couple years and still like it just as much as when I first purchased it. I also get lots of compliments anytime I wear it from young people to older people men and women. It would definitely recommend it.

5'4", 128 lbs. Bought for a cold, windy and wet trip to Belgium. Exceeded expectations! Stayed completely dry and warm. A little snug in the upper sleeves, which were inset a bit high. I wore fleece tanks so as not to add to any bulk in the sleeves. Zippered, the coat was comfortably close. The olive-drab color was great for pix, and stood out from all the black outerwear. Highly recommend it, extremely well-made, excellent quality. Worth it.

This jacket is amazing. Fits perfectly and looks so cute - I've gotten multiple compliments. We had a wet fall and this was my go-to jacket for walking the dog and running errands.

I love this jacket. I order the Large. I'm 5'9", 166lbs. I wear it all the time but I initially got it to walk the dog. It is warm and keeps the wind and rain out. I can't wait to wear it on our upcoming trip to San Francisco. It'll be just perfect.n I love this brand. I tried the jacket on at Epcot and wasn't sure about getting it. I kept thinking about it after our return trip home and ended up ordering it from Zappos.

This is the second time I’ve purchased this coat. (8 years ago in black this time in Olive green) I LOVE the style! The fabric is cute, breathable, & WATER PROOF! The fit is stylish, long enough (mid thigh) but truly functional! The lining is thin, and light weight but WARM! (Temps 40-60) The hood really fits! Not too short to cover your head, and not too long to cover your eyes! It is one of the top selling coats from Helly Hanson. It is the perfect coat when you are out in the elements; wind, rain, chilly. It keeps you warm too so not just a “windbreaker”.

I got this jacket for in-between seasons in New England. I needed a waterproof jacket, for when its in the 40s, that is lightweight. This was everything I was looking for! After reading the reviews, I did get a size large, I am usually a medium in jackets, but I wanted to be able to fit a sweatshirt or sweater underneath it. Even the larger size isn't bulky. I expect to get a lot of use out of this! I love the mauve color, its a purple/greyish.

This coat runs VERY small. I wear an XS in tops, jackets, etc., so I ordered a Small to ensure room for layering. I will be returning the small and ordering a Medium as the Small was tight when I tried it on over a long sleeved t shirt! But I love the style and quality.

This is a fabulous jacket and gets much use here in Tacoma, WA. Great fit and the color combination is fun and bright. I can still layer underneath on the very cold days. Excellent waterproofing!

I'm 5'4", in the 130-140 lb range, and the size medium fits perfectly. I've received more than one compliment on this jacket. I live in New England, and it's a great fall/spring jacket, good for those chilly days when the long, super-warm winter coat is too much, but one still needs a fairly substantial and wind-blocking layer.

The fit was right on! I read the reviews and hesitated to buy an XL as I'm normally a Large. I'm 5'6" 170# 38DD the XL fits perfectly and looks amazing, not tight however does skim the body and it doesnt smash my chest. It looks very attractive. My husband loved the look of it. I would absolutely recommend!

I love the navy color and style details like the fitted shape, contrasting stitching, vertical pocket, high neck, and soft lining. I am a busty 10/12 and the XL fits just right (not tight but definitely fitted). I love how long this is - it will work well with jackets and long sweaters. This is a good style for me because it is streamlined, not puffy but seems like it will be very warm and hopefully will hold up to Chicago winters. I love that it’s water resistant, the sleeves have Velcro tabs to tighten around the wrist if you want, and there are drawstrings on the hood to tighten around your face against the wind. If it doesn’t work I’ll be updating my review, but I have high hopes!

This was a good purchase. Exactly what I was looking for - a waterproof jacket that is also a little warm. It definitely is fitted. I am 5'5 and about 125. The Small fits, but I couldn't fit much underneath, but that's what I wanted. It is nice and streamlined and I know the Medium would be too big and defeat the purpose of having a nice fitted rain coat. Love the color too! (Beluga)
