It's hard to believe Merrell is still selling these boots. They are comfortable and cute, but the buttons fall off even if you are really careful. Then, Merrell tries to send you smaller buttons that will not fit. Massive fail. If you don't mind the look of metal "sockets" where buttons are supposed to be, go ahead and order these.

These seemed comfortable for a while but they actually dig in at the heel quite a lot at the back. so I wouldn't recommend them for a long day unless you have very slender ankles. I have worn them too much to return them (took them straight on a trip, duh) but will take them to the shoe repair place for some stretching action.

Absolutely love these boots. Got them last minute before a trip to London when I realized I didn't have shoes that would hold up to a week of wet. These did the job of keeping me dry, looking great and being super comfortable all at the same time. Didn't need a break in period because they already fit and moved and had the support Merrell soles I needed for the 20+ miles I walked through the city in the week.

I loved these so much that I bought a second pair! I am a hair stylist, so I am on my feet almost all day (on concrete floors), and I can wear these in salon all day and even go out after work without any pain or discomfort! Looks great with skinny jeans, leggings, skirts and dresses. I always get compliments on them too. Please don't ever discontinue this boot!

I bought these for a trip to Greece, and with almost no breaking in ended up walking in these 5-10 miles a day for 11 days! I wanted a waterproof walking boot that disguised itself as a European fashion boot. Amazing! I normally wear a 9.5 to 10 and have normal width feet erroring on the narrow. I bought a size 10 boot, and wear normal ankle cotton sports socks from Costco. I seriously wear these every day in Seattle because I can use them as rain boots, and then keep my feet reasonably warm and very dry, but they look awesome! I have had them for 18 months, and no buttons lost. I bought the two-toned brown so they are a bit more stylish than the plain brown. I have problems with my feet hurting and my arches, but these never make my feet hurt. They are the best money I've ever spent on shoes, and I'm tempted to get another color (but not black - I don't really like it, but the olive color is quite nice).

Please learn from my experience: Do not purchase these boots. Are they adorable? Totally: great for being out in the wet and miserable world, but also can be worn in the office or out for casual events. Are they comfortable? Super comfortable -- you can walk around all day in them and they feel great. Here's the catch: the quality is awful in two particular places: the decorative buttons (I don't really care about this) and the zipper (I care a lot about this). I have owned 5 (five) pairs of these boots, and the zipper has broken on each pair, sometimes on both shoes, within a year. Here's how I have come to own 5 pairs, aside from my own habit and gullibility: purchase (1), exchanged with a broken zipper within less than a year (2), purchased again because I felt bad returning the exchange pair when their zipper broke in eight months (3), returned and exchanged a few months later because the zippers (and buttons) broke (4). Gave up for the rest of winter, wore a different pair of boots. Needed a new pair this winter, was a fool and tried these again, and the zipper broke within two months of my wearing them. I will note that on the first four pairs, I was told that the problem was that I was riding a bike in the boots, and that stressed the zipper. REI told me this, the Merrell folks told me this. This year, I broke my collarbone soon after I purchased the boots (in August, when it was still too warm to wear them anyway) and haven't ridden my bike since. I've worn the boots for walking only for two months (September-November), most days. And the zipper broke. So. Don't buy these boots. Also, they're only warrantied for 90 days from purchase if worn, which should have been a sign to me to manage my expectations about their quality.

These boots are a perfect fit, and extremely comfortable! I wish they were just a bit higher on the leg though. They're not a short boot, but they're not very tall either. Kind of a weird height. Other than that I'm extremely pleased with them!

These boots are fantastic! If you're on the fence, I suggest you hop over to the side that buys these boots. I love them for these reasons: - Comfort. Bought them for a trip to London (I see another reviewer did the same). All I did was try them on before the trip. When walking in London, they were PERFECT. 15,000 steps/day (my FitBit was happy) and my feet barely felt a thing. - Waterproof leather. My feet were the dryest part of me when caught in Paris rain all day. - Buttons. Adorable. Was concerned they'd come off, but they didn't. Held up for a week of heavy traveling. - Pricey, yes. But, I can tell these boots will last for years. My friend owns the same pair and has had them for 3 years. They still look fantastic after all the major trips she's taken (minus a couple of her buttons that came off). - True to Size. I'm a 7.5, and I'm always concerned about boots and being in between sizes. These are a perfect fit.

I live in the NW and commute to work by bike year round. I've spent the last five winters in my captiva launch boots, they are fantastic for commuting and look professional when I am biking back and forth to meetings. The only change I made was to replace the insert with something that provided better support for high arches. After 5 years, I retired my old pair and didn't hesitate to replace them with the same pair. I'm so glad that Merrell has kept this boot around!

What happened to this boot? I have the previous model from a few years back (the "Tetra" Launch, I believe), and it was FANTASTIC. Wearable right out of the box, super-comfortable, pretty extensible for dressing up a wee bit (casual skirts, that kind of thing). Could wear it walking FOREVER. Wore them on vacation after vacation until I wore them out. Then I ordered these to replace them. HORRIBLE! The top of the boot is cut really flat, so if you have any sort of an arch the top of the boot will be pressing down uncomfortably against the top of your foot. I compared these side-by-side with my old boot, and there is a huge difference. The heel cup feels like it's made out of corrugated cardboard, it's so stiff. These boots hurt my feet when I was sitting down! I don't know why they redesigned these so poorly, but I was obviously extremely disappointed. And worse, I didn't even order them from Zappos, so I had to pay to return them. Ugh, never again.

This is just about the best money I've ever spent. I have owned the same pair of these boots for five+ years which speaks to their quality, durability, comfort, and enduring style. They have seen me through all climates and conditions - East Coast snowy winters, California El Nino rainstorms, miles and miles on rough city streets, and weekends in the mountains. They could not be more comfortable or durable. As for the wear-and-tear: the tread has held up phenomenally; I simply take them to my cobbler to have them polished, and he was able to recreate some missing decorative buttons by wrapping brown leather around a button and reattaching. Thank you Merrell, you keep my feet dry and comfy and I get soo many compliments on this perfect practical boot!

This is my second pair of these boots- I love them. They really are waterproof, comfortable, and work well with jeans or skirts. I will keep buying them as long as Merrill makes them.

I've had this pair of boots for several years. This Christmas I bought a pair for my daughter-in-law. That's how great they are. True to size, comfortable and stylish. The more you wear them the better they look.

I have had these boots for two years and I love them! I am a hairdresser and can wear them all day because of the thick rubber sole. I have not had any issues with buttons falling of and I wear them frequently. I don't wear them in the snow because they are black and I have other boots for that. I would recommend these boots for everyday wear.

These are the most fantastic boots that I have ever owned. Not only are they waterproof, I recently took them on a skiing trip and they worked pretty well in the snow too. They are not snow boots and do not have the best traction in the snow, so do not buy them with the intent of using them in the snow all the time. They look great and are completely waterproof. I am completely in love with these boots. Everyone should own a pair. If you have wide calves these may not work for you, but otherwise buy these boots!

Zappos is the bast place to buy shoes. This shoe is so comfortable (although I have not worn it for a full day yet so not sure if there is break in period). love the style and color. It is mid-calf so it is not a lot of shoe and I love it. I am a size 7 1/2 but I got 8 so please size up. Thank zappo's!

I bought these shoe for my backpacking trip in China. I wore them the entire time I was there and they were the best decision I made. They were lightweight yet sturdy and provided such great support. I hiked up a mountain and the Great Wall of China in these boots and would not trade them for anything, yet now I still wear them as fashion boots at home.

These boots are fantastic! I bought them before a trip trekking around London. I was a bit wary given the button conversation. My friend had a pair, too and loved them, but had button issues. Suffice to say, I trekked around London/Paris for 6-8 miles/day with no issues. I was able to take my boots off each day and my feet didn't ache. Fantastic! About to wear them on a trip to Asia as well, so fingers crossed the buttons don't come off. Otherwise, I'm excited for another trek!

These are my most favorite boots in the entire world! I believe they have made me a Merrell wearer for life! I wear them weekly regardless of the weather and I am constantly complemented on them as well. I did have a zipper break after about almost a year of regular wear but they are so insanely worth it that it will not stop me from buying them again. Here is to hoping I get a newer model with a better zipper this time around!

Love the boot and the look! Runs a tad small so I had to return to get a half size larger, easy exchange. Super comfortable.

I ordered these for a trip to Europe in early December of last year. They were the best thing I could have taken! Lightweight and warm with a comfortable footbed that allowed walking all day long in the rain and freezing weather. They came home looking like the day I left!

Waterproof, stylish & comfortable! Worth every penny. I live in Oregon where it rains most of the year & these boots get a workout. I order 1/2 size up because I have a larger calf. Very stylish for a waterproof boot. Love Merrells, they last forever!

I really like these boots. I couldn't say enough about how comfortable they are and I wear them every day...the best part - these were given as gift. Greatest gift I was ever given!
