I bought these boots to serve as both 'hiking boots' and stylish footwear to wear on a recent trip to Ireland. They fulfilled both roles perfectly. I wore them for 10 days straight and didn't even break them in before we left. I got complements from other Americans in our group, but I'll bet the stylish Irish girls were wondering where they could find a pair! Perfect heel height, great support, not too clunky, comfortable and stylish! What's not to love?

So, so pleased with these boots. I've been looking for the perfect pair for about the past five years, wearing my old Red Wing biker half-boots into shreds. I go from urban to rural settings every day, and I need fashion, durability, and good soles that will NOT slip on gravel. I also work at a standing desk when at the office, so comfort is critical, too. The heel height is perfect - I'm a shortie, but my days of high heels are long gone. I ordered these boots in the sparkly pair (user testing note for Zappos: your review window on the iPad doesn't allow me to back out and doublecheck the real name of that color) and I really enjoy an alternative to the normal and boring black and brown. I plan to put a ton of hard wear on these boots, and the leather is exactly the right weight to give support without being too heavy. Plus, when I scuff these boots up, they're only going to get more awesome. Haven't worn them in the rain yet; I didn't add any waterproofing because I didn't want to mess with the sparkly finish, but the seams look really tight so hopefully it will be fine. These boots seem very true to other Merrell sizes. No problems there. I have a slightly narrow foot, and they are snug on me.

Got these right before a trip to New York and they were fabulous! Am 56 and wanted to have a shoe that is comfortable and still a little hip! These were wonderful and I think I'm pretty picky.

Love this boot. Ordered the size 8 first, which is my usual size, but it felt a little big. The 7.5 was perfect even though I have wide feet. I like that it's not completely flat, gives you a little height without feeling like it has a heel. Easy to slip on and off, which I like, but still fits securely when walking.

Loved this boot, just can't seem to get a good fit. It's really a gorgeous look. I'm very disappointed!

Great travel shoe! I got these for a backpacking trip through Ireland (urban backpacking--staying in hostels, packing really light, traveling cheaply). I was looking for a good all-purpose shoe that could work for walking around cities, light hiking, and wearing to nice dinners or to bars. These works perfectly for everything. I even walked up Croagh Patrick (a rocky mountain), and even though it tore up the heels a bit, the shoes held up! Very, very comfortable, durable, and they look great.

Great boot out of the box. Usually 9, med width, these fit nicely with room to wear with either inserts or heavy socks. These will be well worn traipsing around Dublin and countryside. Nice oak color, classic riding style shirt boogie. Customer service easily redirected shipping error with credit back on expedited cost. Thanks Zappos!

Usually, do not review, although appreciate comments by others, when shopping. My fashion conscious daughter-in-law suggested good boots would be perfect for trip to wintery Midwest. She is right. These Merrell's are great. No break in time, a tad snug with medium wool socks at first, my orthotics fit to accommodate my high instep, heel height that of a clog. Love flexible sole. Three days of constant wear, and feet are A-OK. Stylish look & comfortable. Definitely, can recommend.

This boot has no zipper. It was hard enough to get on so that I thought it would be too small for my 7 1/2 B foot, but instead, once I got it on, it was too big. Bummer, because I loved the color and style. But if I could barely get into one that was too big, I figured getting a half size smaller would be pointless.

My favorite footwear! Wish I could wear all year. Most comfortable shoes I own. I need good arch support and my feet don't tire in these. Good stability, often walk blocks to get lunch from work. I normally wear a 9.5 medium, these fit true to size and there is room for a thick sock. Takes a little getting used to pulling on but once you get the knack it's just a little bit of a struggle. I'm 60 and not terribly strong. Hate zippers on boots. I also bought the black, which are great, but the brown is really attractive, not good for a formal look but great for the office with long skirts, just a little edge to them.

Really great boot! Very comfortable. I ordered the black - nice finish to the leather. I did not have any trouble getting it on -but my feet are a bit on the narrow side. It looks like these would hold up well - I like the buckle to add a bit of interest also. (just decided on a different style) Thank you Zappos!

Comfortable and fashionable. I especially LOVE the outer sole. It's solid with good traction in snow and slush. Perfect winter boot for jeans so you don't have to wear heavy ugly winter boots to a girls night out or to date night. You could even wear these with your work pants since the buckle isn't visible unless you are wearing leggings. Very happy with this purchase!

very cute, looks good with jeans, leggings... can wear all day... would be much better if it came in wide, but sizing up a little helped with the width... usually wear 10W but the 11 is very comfortbale

Love these boots! Style is personal of course, but what really got me is how these feel and fit. I ordered a number of boots from Zappos (like 10 pairs!!) and these stood out about the rest. They are light in weight, but the sole feels much more sturdy than all the others did. They feel like a real boot except for the weight, and look fashionable. Good for those who want both function AND fashion :) Also, despite not having any zipper or button closures, they are very easy to get on and off. My foot is wide and these are very comfy for me, so if you are narrow your foot may swim in these. There is also the slightest bit of heel height to these which is perfect for me as I didn't want a flat boot but at 48 cannot tolerate heels anymore. The only improvement I would make is a slightly darker stain on the brown option. I haven't seen the black ones in this style.

I love these boots! I cannot wear high heels anymore due to a few surgeries I've had. It's nice to have the tiny heel height in these. Very hip looking, I don't wear them walking but water them around town, etc. Fun and stylish yet comfortable. I like to wear with a thick sock and the 7.5 fit me fine, which is my normal size and what I wear in Merrell hiking boots as well.

VERY comfortable boot. The heel bed is hammock for your foot.

Needed a cute pair of booties but can't do huge heels as I walk in the city to work. I love my merrill sneakers so decided to try these. They are excellent. Very well made with a lot of cushion. very happy with them.

LOVE THESE BOOTS! The style is awesome and well made. The only thing i noticed is they run narrow (opposite of what another person said). There is no way I can get a thick sock on with this boot. I normally wear 5.5, order size 6 in a boot, so the size 6 will work for me with thin socks. I have had foot issues in the past also (two surgeries, not fully recovered), and no pain w/these boots. I will keep them.

Ordered the black as well as the oak, and liked the contrasts with the oak better. The heel is very dark instead of oak so you can still wear black leggings, the black was not as distinctive. Fits a bit big, ordered an 8.5 and returned for an 8. Other big issue is that it's a pull-on, there's no zipper, so it slows me down (I'm an older gal) a bit much, but loved them enough to keep the brown ones!

I love these boots. Extremely comfortable and great for walking around in. Stylish enough for pants and skirts. The leather is so soft.

These boots are stylish and comfortable. They are my new go-to work shoe. My job can involve any combination of sitting, standing and walking you can imagine, so these have me ready for anything. The leather is very forgiving, so even though I have a wide forefoot, these fit great and were able to stretch enough for me.

After trying over 30 pairs of boots I have finally found the perfect boots! I have difficult feet due to some horse injuries and subsequent surgeries, plus I had a specific quest for funky, fashionable and comfortable. These are the bomb! They met all my criteria and were comfortable right out of the box. As a horse owner I am particular about leather quality - these exceeded my expectations. I wear a 7½ or 8. I first ordered these in an 8, but they were too loose. I exchanged for the 7½ and they are perfect! Again, thank you Zappos for helping me find my dream boots!

Merrells always run true to size for me and these were not different. Perfect fit and will require minimum breaking in. I love them!

These are gorgeous, quality boots. Heel height is perfect, color is rich, and the boot has a slim profile and is comfortable and flexible. However the foot area is quite tight. I order regular width, and these were not marked as narrow, but they were a bit too tight for my liking. I did wear them in my office for a bit, and they would probably stretch a little after you walk in them and "make them yours." But I didn't want to risk it at the price. I sit all day, and wanted my feet to feel like blood could circulate well. It was a tough decision though. If I had more spending money for shoes, I would have kept them. So don't let my review discourage you. Just keep it in mind if your foot is on the wider side.
