I have been wearing the Chameleon 4 Stretch (and all of it's incarnations for years now. Absolutely the most dependable shoe I have ever worn. I would wear them for both work and casual wear. When they wore down I would order another pair without too much thought. Recently I ordered the Merrell Chameleon Prime Stretch assuming it was an updated version. After one day of wear I wondered why my feet hurt. Upon closer inspection I realized that these were practically a cheap knock off of the Chameleon 4 Stretch. The Vibram sole is gone and the overall construction and materials seemed much cheaper. I am heartbroken over it - have stopped buying them.

I've been purchasing this series of shoes for ten years (since Stretch II), and have owned 6-8 pairs. They've changed a couple times, but have consistently been high quality and comfortable. The quality of these is terrible. The soles feel like standing on concrete. The arch support is under the heel. After standing in them the first time, I took them off to see if I'd inadvertently left packing inserts in the heels. They're painful to wear while standing.

I was excited reading the other reviews about these shoes that I could get back to my 4 year old Chameleons. Unfortunately, for my foot at least, these shoes are not the comfort I am used to. The shoe beds have no arch support and it feels like I was standing on the floor. I took them off after 5 minutes as my feet were hurting. In addition, the raised sides hit me right at the base of my ankle joint causing discomfort. I wish I were like the other reviewers who love them but I am not and have returned them. I'm back in my very worn, 4 year old Chameleons.

I am so disappointed that Merrell discontinued the Vibram soles. This shoe, which I have worn for years, now feels completely different. If you are repeat shopping, don't do it. Trust me, it won't feel the same - at all! I'm an avid walker, hiker, cyclist - and wear my Merrells doing all of those things. Now, if I walk half a mile in this "new and improved" model, my feet hurt and my ankles feel like they have no support. Why, Merrell? Why? Why do you have to mess with a good thing just to make more money? Bring back Vibram!

Sorry, guys, but stay away in less you like black nails. The dye goes everywhere if they get water on them, even rain. They have been a nightmare.

Shoe comes too high at the ankle, and the shoe fits tight at the ankle for how the rest of the shoe fits. The shoe is tight to pull on at the ankle and is is HOT. Not good for summer wear, but should be a good fall/winter shoe. Quick tie laces are way too long. But it does look great and feels nice on the feet.

Over the last few years I've purchased 6 to 8 pairs of Chameleon 4. Their stretch design allows them to provide wonderful support. Makes it feel like a glove on your feet. The Chameleon 4 is sadly no longer produced, and I purchased the Prime Stretch. It's good, but not nearly as comfortable as the 4. 1. The back of Prime Stretch is significantly higher, making a challenge to insert one's feet. 2. The sole on the bottom does not provide as much arch support as previously. I had to insert a pair of Scholl's support.

Bought these for my husband who spends 12 hours a day on his feet. He said they fit perfectly and are extremely comfortable, even after wearing for very long periods of time.

I love these shoes! I was apprehensive to buy after reading reviews that they weren't comfortable (are a little taller than other Merrell's and sit higher on the ankle), but they fit me just fine with no discomfort.

Shoe feels great and looks great. Only problem is if you don't have wide feet, the elastic cord for lacing the shoes is too long when you tighten up the shoe.

Favorite shoe out of a half dozen hiking shoes. Breathable!

Great fitting shoe but they don't last if you wear these everyday, hey won't last 45 days. I buy a pair every two months.

A shoe worth getting, first time getting Merrell and glad I did. Was tired of my previous shoes rubber falling apart becoming loose and causing braking in a car to become hazardous. This shoe is sturdy, comfortable and durable. Excited to see how long these last.

Love these shoes so much I have all 3 colors. Fits well and long lasting.

These shoes are excellent support and very comfortable. This is my husbands 5 pair.

I have had the Chameleon before. As before these shoes fit very nice. If you have a high arch, I think they may be somewhat difficult to slip on. For me they fit like a glove.

My husband loves Merrell shoes. I have ordered 2 other colors of these shoes from Zappos. We just ordered the grey. He has the brown and black also. He wears a 10.5 and that's what size we order. They are true to size and he says they are very comfortable. He does a lot of walking at work.

This is my second pair. This pair is different from the first in several small ways, but feel just as comfortable.

Great shoes...won't wear anything else.

best shoes ever , 3 pairs chameleon in 6 years . I use these for work, I am over weith person, it gives me full comfort through the day, 9 hours every day.

Got these for my husband. He is already a devoted Merrell's person but these were a new style for him. He loves them. He thinks the 9 1/2 he always wears feel just slightly larger in this style but a 9 would be too small so he's staying with these. The best thing is the gray color, sort of a steel blue charcoal. They go with everything and looks great. He loves the slip in feature. Excellent choice for Merrell fans.

Pro: Pretty good hiking shoe. Great tread, kept a good grip on wet rock and loose gravel. Con: Tight squeeze to slip on.
