Cool looking bag, especially in the all black. Bought it for my 14 year old son who rides a fixie to HS every day. At first I was concerned there weren't enough pockets, but he says he doesn't mind. Loves the way it looks. Fits his laptop, charger and all the other random stuff a 14 year old brings to school. Also does a good job hiding forgotten food, as the big compartment hid his lunch for a couple weeks.
I'd also recommend:
Hex, Brixton, Patagonia

I use this as my day-to-day bag commuting via public transit to work. I love the laptop sleeve and even though it doesn't seem like it, the bag fits a lot of stuff. I bring multiple glass tupperware containers to work everyday and it all fits. My one complaint is the lack of internal pockets. Since I commute in a big city on the train I pretty much avoid using the outer pocket for anything important. That leaves me with the one inner pocket which isn't quite enough. I make due. I love the look of the bag and it's nice to have the option to clip things to the outside.

I use it for school. My other book bags broke from the weight of books. So I bought this book bag because it seems to be strong. So far, I've had the book bag for a month, and there's no sign of tearing or breaking anytime soon. Can fit a large laptop too. There are places to place a carabiners, so that's cool. There's a pocket for easy access and another one inside. It would be nice if there were more pockets. Padding is kind of thin for the back and laptop, to me, but still good. Sometimes, when it drizzles, I do get scared that water may get in if i don't tuck in the sides at the top. Overall, it's a good book bag.

I put a nice rectangular box in it with a dangling tag that hangs out of the bag. This way, the bag maintains its shape even when it is not stuffed up. The interior stays clean and by swapping the rectangular boxes meant for work or gym, I don't need to unpack anything. The dangling tag attached to the rectangular boxes are meant to help identify the contents, so I don't accidentally bring the wrong stuff !

I have a 15inch -and very heavy- laptop, so I was really glad that it fit. I am a college student and Im using this backpack daily. It is really good and its everything you expect from a Timbuk2 backpack. My only 2 concerns are that after wearing it for a period of time, the straps become really uncomfortable. It may be the weight of my laptop, although I havent use the backpack witout the computer in it, and it is a heavy one. My second concern is that unlike the other Timbuk2 bags, this one is lacking pockets. So my keys, sunglasses and external HDD are all in the same (and only) external pocket. So, having in mind that the Rogue is one of the cheapest Timbuk2 backpacks, this is an amazing backpack. The only real disadvantage is that you may have to put a lot of items in the same pocket. Putting that aside, this is a great bag and it is perfect for students. Even if you have a big 15 inch laptop

I love this pack! Rugged, stylish, visible and roomy, it fit the bill of what I wanted to carry while on my bike. The straps and suspension are stiff, but will likely soften with time. 3 features I would have added: an outside zipper pouch in the top flap, a second water bottle pouch on the side (in LA I do 30 mi. plus commutes) and a reflective stripe stitched into the details on the back. I bought the white/stone for vizibility but added my own DIY reflective stickers in on the Velcro strip provided. Looking forward to using it a lot. Way more comfortable for me than the cross body messenger style.

This is a wonderful backpack.I have been using it for school and it protects all of my items from the almost everyday rain. The only time that it didn't hold up to the rain was when it was in the rain for many hours at an ultimate Frisbee tournament. My things were damp, but for being in pouring down rain for hours it held up very well. All in all I'm extremely happy with this backpack.

If you're looking for a backpack that fits your needs - something to carry your laptop, pack a couple of clothes along with it - this will get the job done while looking Stylish. The only con I have about this bag is that there's no area to carefully slip in any shoes, but it's not a big deal if you can make room.

Great bag. I own 2 . Camo and black. Nice rain protection on front. But sides aren't too weatherproof. The next Rogue backpack should be full blown waterproof. With that said its still the best small backpack in this price range.

the bag is great for daily tasks, junk to and fro. It's big enough for the random thing that needs to be picked up after work, but not quite big enough for much else. The front pocket sort of gets hard to open when there's large firm items in the very bottom of the bag.

I bought this bag as a potential replacement for my aging Chrome messenger bag. The size and capacity are good for day-to-day use or short trips. This was my one bag for a 4-day trip to NYC and it performed beautifully. I was able to wear it comfortably for several hours at a time and stuff in additional items. Bike commuting: I wear this bag on my bike commute to work. I wear it kind of high on my back and it does impede my head movement when wearing a helmet, but it's not a dealbreaker. Weather protection: I haven't gotten caught in a rainstorm with this bag yet, but I do have questions about the waterproof-ness of the top flap. I would love to be able to roll the top flap down when the bag is not completely full. There is some Velcro on top of the flap but there isn't matching Velcro where I need it on the body of the bag. Overall I am pleased with this bag especially for the price point. The construction is good and I know it will last a while. The blue color is lovely and a nice departure from all the monotone solid black bags out there.

I think this is a great backpack. It has a distinctive style compared to the bog standard outdoor backpacks out there and is perfect for what I bought it for - urban commuting to and from work. Some people have complained in reviews about the lack of padding on the straps. Given the size and function of this bag I think the padding is fine, but I probably wouldn't recommend it for a 40km hike if that's what you had in mind. The pack feels incredibly durable and has decent waterproofing if you get caught in an unexpected downpour. It is relatively minimalist in terms of pockets, but there's enough there to help you organise your bits. Overall I think it's really well priced and am very happy. The bottle opener is a nice touch.

I was really looking for a new waterproof messenger bag from some other SF bag-makers. (You know who I'm talking about.) but decided to get a backpack, because I want to start cycling to work. I didn't really like the backpack offerings from the other guys, and their prices are outrageous. Enter: Timbuk2. Well designed, stylish, functional and cost effective. So far I really like the bag. It holds everything I want to commute with and all my "get home" gear in case of apocalypse... It keeps out heavy rain for an extended period of time, which is nice. The only things I would add are more pockets, and a key clip inside.

I was quite worried when ordered the bag cause it was said not to fit my 15 inch Dell. In addition, I have a Thermos Flask which is quite bigger than normal size water bottle, and I was afraid that it's not gonna the water pocket. Guess what?! They turned out to fit beautifully in the pockets. My laptop was thicker than the MacBook Pro (Dell 5000 15inch) but I have no trouble taking it in and out of the bag, same for the Thermos flask. It was such a relieve cause I didn't want to waste $92 for a backpack that does not fit my laptop. One thing about Rogue backpack that should be improved is that the straps should be softer, they still hurt me abit if I carry heavy stuff for along time. Bag is great for uni, quite enough room for a lappy and 3 textbooks and other accessories. Overall, it has the stylish look and great capacity, worth the pennies I spent !

I use this bag for everyday use on my bike. I like the size, weight and style. The red thread on the black is a nice touch. Also, it stays upright when you put it down. My other timbuk2 bag would not do this and would pitch forward spilling out all the contents. This bag has a solid base and is better designed for standing upright. The webbing in the front is good..but, it could have been better. They picture my exact U-lock in the webbing...but the webbing is like is just a shy too wide and the U-lock, not easily, but could slip through. If they made it a little narrow it would be perfect. Before closing the top main flap, I wish it were possible to velcro close the main compartment first. I'm a little worried that with the flap over the bag, that it may be possible for it to not be fully enclosed. Also the straps on the back seem to come together a little more than my other strap. They might have been better if the shoulder straps were set apart just a little more. Since there are absolutely no reflective materials on the bag, I'll be stitching in some reflective material on the webbing for a little added safety. Overall, so far, I really like the bag. I'll see how it does in a Seattle rain but so far it's been durable, intuitive and snazzy.

I purchased the all-black Rogue because I needed a tactical pack with enough room for a spare uniform and some paperwork. I was disappointed when I opened the bag and found it to be smaller than I hoped. I won't be cramming all of my gear in there, but it will fit a day's worth of supplies. Water bottle pouch is a plus as well as the Velcro tape so that I can put a name tape over the logo. There are two pockets which suit my uses just fine. The bottle opener on the strap is always a great feature. All around this bag is sturdy, sleek and compact and built like an art student's bag. I hope that maybe Timbuk2 can create a larger version at some point that's not a rolling bag.

First things first, the webbing on this bag is 3/4" wide with about a 2" spacing on the front of the back. Behind that is 1.5" wide with a 6" opening. On the side its 3/4" webbing with a 1.5" space in the middle with about 2" spaces on either side. Now that that's out of the way... This bag is a no nonsense bag that doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some of the other bags on the market have. It doesn't have dedicated pockets for everything and the kitchen skin. It is a just a basic bag, with a massive main compartment. Think basic two pocket backpack mated with a messenger bag, add some webbing on the outside and that's the Timbuk2 Rogue in a nutshell. The main compartment is as huge, because the sides are all soft, you can really stuff it with just about anything that can fit in its gaping maw. A built in light would have been handy or maybe a retrieval spell. A warning label should be included as people with short arms may have trouble reaching the bottom of the bag. However is that there really isn't much padding. I suppose I have grown spoiled of having super soft squishiness on my back and on the shoulder straps of other bags. Speaking of shoulder straps, yes they are fixed in a position that is a little too close together so if you are use to wearing your bag a little high like I do, they pinch your neck making it extremely uncomfortable to wear. To solve this, you need to lower the bag a little so the pads will wrap around the top of your shoulders. I would also have liked to have seen compression straps on this bag, This bag can become extremely compact when not filled to the gills with stuff. Keeping things nice and secure in the massive compartment would have been great. This bag is also not water-resistant even though it has water resistant materials in some sections. I purchased the Carbon color and most of the lining is red on three of the five sides on the inside of the bag. If there were a few more tweaks here and there, this bag would be a home run.

I looks great when new, but a year later, the outer layer of the material begin to bubble up (as if the glue between the 2 layers died) and fall apart. As I am no longer in the US, warranty is zero. In Singapore I could trade in to buy a new one, but the caveat is that the price is a lot higher. A big flaw of this bag is the bottom layer of the main compartment is very thin, meaning being extra care when putting it down. The laptop compartment is lifted higher so it would be safe, though. As with many other Timbuk2 backpacks, the water bottler compartment could be taller.

This backpack is great until it started losing its structure. It is pretty floppy. I use this as a work backpack everyday and I have had it for a little over a year now. The corners are starting to fray a little and the inner canvas where it has pencil holders has teared through. I love the style of it but just wish it had more structure so it could stand up straight on its own without having something heavy and structured in it.

I'm a bicycle commuter. The pack is handsome and comfortable but the internal organization should be in the single outside pocket and not in the top under the fold. Buy this pack on sale and purchase additional organizers to Velcro in. This will keep your stuff from tossing around and keep the weight low for a streamlined profile. I also needed to buy a lanyard, which was disappointing.

I do like this backpack but I guess I had really high expectations. The stitching is inconsistent, in areas that it is suppose to overlap it is way off, some lines are squiggles. I expected a superior product since hearing the raving reviews. I feel I either received a dud or other consumers are not as detail oriented as myself.
