Overall good shoes with comfort. Size is slightly bigger, but quality is good. Good in snow with style as well.

The toe area is very roomy (mens shoes are made wider than womens), the shaft height hits at a good spot on the leg (above the ankle bone, but not so high up you are likely to run into an issue with wider calves, and the sole seems like it has a good grip in wet weather. Also, these boots look awesome! They are pretty comfortable as well, but unfortunately they are about half a size too large for me. I usually wear a 9 womens and the size chart shows that a 7 mens is the same EU size (40). If these boots were available in a 6.5 I'd totally get them!

I graduated to a 13 in several of my go-to show brands over the past 10 years so I ordered these expecting the same. Very much incorrrect for me. I sent them back (Zappos rocks) and swapped for a pair of 12s. Spot on toe to heel, with a very roomy toe box. I’m medium to wide and the extra space is my only tenuous misgiving for this shoe. Love the style. The cattail/black suede finish looks great out of the box and will probably weather better. I haven’t been in any real weather here at the end of summer in the south but am looking forward to giving them some punishment.

These are great boots, very comfortable and decent durability. I use them as work boots and am in them almost every day hiking off trail on a variety of terrains. After a year and a half plus of almost constant use the side panels needed repair but because of their construction this was an easy job for a cobbler. The tread is great on everything except wet rock. It will still hold but special attention should be made to your footing. I bought three pairs of these boots so i can use them for years to come. Excellent product.

Looked sleek and sexy enough in the photos, but the actual boot is really nothing special, and kinda looked like kids shoes. Can't really recommend from an aesthetic standpoint and had to return.

These are my go to work boots. I work in Television Production so my location days can vary from a barren desert, swampy rainforest, frozen tundra, city streets, comfy studio ...you get the idea. This is my 2nd pair, and the first are still holding strong after 2 years of abuse. Can you stand in a foot of water and have dry feet with these boots? No. But I have worked outside in pouring rain for 6 straight days and had dry feet at the end of the day. I'm not sure why some people say they are not waterproof. I really like the weight and style of this boot, I have the black and the brown. I apply a coat of Bees wax every few months and before winter, this keeps the leather soft and improves the waterproofing. I appreciate quality products and this boot has never let me down. Rock on Sorel!

Just trekked through rainy Ireland and my feet were bone dry. Comfortable with the exception of the insole, which are very thin and made out of weak material. Added some Super Feet insoles, which made a huge difference.

This is my second pair of Sorels and the same issue with the sole separating from the boot with very little wear. Although these boots are very comfortable and flexible, they tend to have issues with the parts that are glued on. I've only worn these a dozen times and had the rubber sections start to peel off.

Received these as a gift. One of the most comfortable and well fitting boots I've ever owned, straight out of the box. Unfortunately, they aren't constructed very well. I've had to get them repaired 3 times I the 6 months I've had them for the stitching coming out and the rubber around the toe peeling away. This is with daily wear. They're great boots otherwise, just not worth the price on my opinion.

Careful with these...sorta comfortable but almost killed myself slipping on a wet manhole cover on the first day wearing them. Not great tread. Will probably return.

I ordered these direct from Sorel because they had the color combination that I liked. When I got them, the fit was good and I loved the material they were made out of. The one major deal breaker was that the rivets used for the upper laces instantly dug into my ankles. I tried socks, different lacing combinations and nothing would get rid of that hard metal on bone pain. So back to Sorel they go.

First the good. They look as good on as they do on the website. I receive plenty of compliments asking where I got them etc. In terms of function I think there are better options. Saying these boots are waterPROOF is a slight stretch of the truth. Wearing these in the rain for 15mins walking to work, my feet still did get damp. In terms of quality, I can already see where the rubber toe "bumper" is in the beginning stages of delaminating.(owned for about a month) but leather looks nice and of quality. Fit wise they are pretty true, the toe box is a little more spacious than I require but probably there to allow space for thicker socks. This boot won't be your bulletproof rain or snow boot but somewhere in-between. They look great but fall short in terms of function for my needs.

I bought these boots a little less than 2 years ago. They were my main footwear in winter (which isn't too bad here, just a bit of rain now and then) but used them very little in the dry season. About a year ago I had to fix the sole that got worn, a couple of days ago I noticed some of the outer stitches were torn and today I got home after 30 minutes of walking in the rain and my socks were wet (oddly enough, not were the seams were torn)... So no longer waterproof. I didn't expect all these things (especially stopping to be waterproof) after only 2 years. Quite disappointing...

Bought a new pair to replace the first pair I purchased 2 years ago. The boots are comfortable and somewhat stable on slick surfaces. My first pair shows a lot of wear for periodic non abuse wear. Seams are splitting, which eliminates any idea of waterproof and the toe rubber portion is separating from the shoe. This type of poor wear performance is not typical of Sorel products. But I guess they showed me...I only purchased a second pair because they are not bulky, comfortable and look good!

Unfortunately this will be my first negative review on Zappos. While Sorel is a quality company, this boot just doesn’t match up. There is little to no arch support and the included footbed is pretty much useless. I feel every pebble that I walk across. Also, there is no insulation so winter use isn’t really possible. I tried walking in snow again today with thermal socks and my feet are still freezing. Sorel, what’s up with the lack of quality? While it’s a moderately stylish boot, they’re so uncomfortable that I rarely wear them. I was really hoping for more considering the price and brand name.

If buying the grey variant pay attention that the shade is noticeable differnet then what is shown in the images. The shade is darker and blue-ish and doesn't resemble at all the light-grey color shown in the images. I was very disapointed to find that out as, in my opinion the color isn't that great. Other than that the boots feels good, but the color differet ruined it for me.

Sole separated after 14 months of light use. Left foot instep pulled away and leaked while hiking. Looks great, but was hoping to use for more than a fashion boot. First and last experience with Sorel.

I SAW THIS BOOT ON THE SHELF AND THEN DID SOME DIGGING ON IT. WENT BACK AND FORTH ABOUT THE COLOR. ENDED GETTING THEM AND LOVED THE WAY THE FIT THE WAY THEY LOOKED AND THE WAY THEY FELT... UNTIL THEY STARTED FALLING APART. I WORE THEM FOR TWO DAYS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA RAIN(4 HOURS DAY 1, 3 HOURS DAY 2) TOTAL TIME EXPOSED TO MOISTURE, MAYBE 1 HOUR CUMULATIVE. AFTER DAY TWO FOUND THE RUBBER ON THE TOE PEELING AWAY FROM THE LEATHER. WELL I SHOULD HAVE RETURNED THEM RIGHT THEN AND THERE, DID I? NO I WANTED TO LIKE THEM TOO MUCH. SO I GRABBED SOME EPOXY AND ADDED SOME FOR ABOUT 1 INCH OF THE SEAM WHERE THE RUBBER. THEN THE RAIN WAS OVER. SO BACK TO TENNIS SHOES. SO HERE WE ARE 1 YEAR LATER AND HAVE NOW ADDED ANOTHER 4 HOURS OF TOTAL WEAR TIME, (AGAIN SOCAL WEATHER, LIGHT RAIN NO DUNKS NO SUBMERSION) AND THE LEATHER ON LEATHER SEAM ON THE INSIDE OF THE SHOE IS COMING OPEN AND WATER GOT IN!!!!! BOUGHT MY GIRLFRIEND ALSO A PAIR OF SOREL BOOTS, THEY ARE HAVING SIMILAR SEAM ISSUES.

First time shame on you (Sorel) second time shame on me. this is the second pair of these boots and they both leaked after weeks of use. I liked the style so much that I kept wearing them but I am tired of having wet socks. I would never buy another pair and waste my money sorry. Please improve your seams and gluing.

This is my second attampt at trying these boots. As others have mentioned, they're extremely comfortable and they look great. However, as others have also mentioned, the adhesive holding the rubber toe caps to the shoe will fail. This happened on both pairs I owned. My current pair is just under 1 year old and the stitching on both boots has begun to fail, causing the uppers to fall apart. With the abundance of poor reviews pointing out similar design flaws, I'm surprised they still sell these.

This is the last pair of sorels I will buy. The ankeny mid hiker is by no stretch of the imagination a work or hiking boot. These are dress boots that cannot handle much more. I love the look of these boots but my pair literally fell apart in less than 9 months. I tried to take care of them with regular cleaning and waterproofing but they just weren't built to last. Busted seams, ripped leather at rubber toe and collapsed sole. Fell apart. For the price I find this unacceptable. Unless you are looking for an "outdoor" looking dress boot, I would not recommend these shoes.
