I bought these for slightly snowy, slushy or cold & rainy days when a tall, furry, winter boot is not necessary, but when I still can't wear regular leather boots because of the salt & slush. They are perfect for this! The style is great -- outdoorsy, but still cute and not clunky. I like that the tongue is attached to the boot until about halfway up, which should help in moisture / puddles, especially if you continue to treat the leather with waterproofing. These boots are not insulated, but that's what I was looking for. Wearing them last night in 20-degree weather with thick socks, my feet felt fine. Granted, I was 'out and about' running errands, not standing in snow for hours at a time. But again, this is what I bought them for. I have Sorel's Joan of Arctic boots for extreme snow and cold. I gather that I could wear these with thinner socks in the summer or fall and they would be fine too, which is great. The leather is a little stiff, so that if I lace them tight, when I flex my ankle a ton it isn't very comfortable. I expect the leather will wear in / break down over time, and for now, I'm just lacing them a little looser, which is fine and they are totally wearable. I do think that I'll get a better footbed insert for these, as there is no arch support whatsoever. But I've had to do that with lots of winter boots, so it doesn't bother me. Bottom line: It's exactly what I was looking for!

I bought these in my normal size 10. I have Sorel Cate the Greats and Joan of Arctic in size 10 as well. Initially these felt too snug but after wearing them for a day, they are perfect and I'm glad I didn't size up. They definitely fit differently from the other Sorel models I've tried - these are less bulky and more streamlined. The toe box is narrower than the bigger snow boots. They are great for winter days when there is just a little slush or ice and I don't want to wear big clunky boots. I'm a fan!

Probably my favorite pair of shoes right now. 100% go up a size. I'm normally a size 8 in everything, but had to go up to a size 9. Other than that, these are a great pair of boots. Super comfortable (even being on my feet all day in them), goes well with everything.

Cute little boots! They run small. I normally wear a 7 1/2 but had to return and order an 8. I love them!

I bought the elk colored one from the Sorel website after seeing these on a model on the Anthropologie site. They are very chic outdoor shoes. It's really hard to find winter shoes that don't look big and bulky. I have really skinny calves and wear a size 9, so it's hard to find shoes that don't look enormous on me. Because these shoes have a wide mouth and not a lot of extra bulk, it has a shrinking effect. I bought a size 8.5 and they fit fine. I put in arch supports which helped the comfort out a lot.

These boots are cute, comfy and lightweight. They are not as wide and bulky as I remember some of the winter styles being. However, these are more of a rain boot than a winter boot, as they are not at all insulated. Also sole is rather flat.

Love these boots! They go with everything 'winter'. They could be a little more comfortable but not bad enough to leave them in the closet.

Super Cute boots! Take a little wearing in because the leather hits you kind of right at the ankle so it rubs a little. A little stiff at first.

This is my second pair of these boots. They're "cute", comfortable, and much better made than their competitor. The first pair lasted about three years of daily 3+ mile walks before I wore through the heel. They're sufficiently waterproof that I walk through shallow puddles without getting wet feet. They run very small - I'm usually size 8 1/2 and I wear size 10 in these. Their ache support is nonexistent, so I add inserts which solves the problem. Very happy with this boot.

This is a stylish fall rain/light snow boot. Very light weight. I Love wearing a cute crew sock with these. I would not recommend it for very cold winter weather or heavy snow since it doesn't have much insulation to keep your feet warm.

I wear a 9 and ordered a 9. Feels fine with and without socks. Glad I didn’t size up. Happy with the material and the style of the shoe. Will be great on the farm and Friday night football games. Defiantly worth looking at. Love mine!

So incredibly sad, these boots were a great deal and super cute but I should have taken the advice of all the reviewers before me. They run at least a full size small.

I bought two sizes & ended up with the half size bigger. A little strange but I couldn't fit into my usual size at all but the half size felt a little big... which I'm fine with because then I can wear with fat socks in the winter. I love the look.

These boots are great for rainy, muddy, or even a little snowy days. They are super stylish and keep your feet dry. They don't have anything added for warmth, but are fine for winter with a wool sock. I wouldn't wear them in a snowstorm in Chicago, I wear the Sorel Joan of Arctic for that. I wear an 8.5 and the size 9 are a pretty close fit. If I ordered again I might go up to a 9.5.

I was really worried at first that these were going to be too tight around the toe and too loose in the ankle. They were slightly uncomfortable upon first wearing but I suffered through with thick socks and they stretched or relaxed very quickly. They're now my favorite pair of boots! Great arch support and they do not aggravate my old plantar fasciitis injury.

This shoe fits true to size. I normally wear 9.5 and ordered both the 9.5 and the 10 and am returning the 10. This is my second pair of Sorel boots and the first pair held up well, so I bought these for a spring trip to Iceland (for non hiking days).

I ordered a half size up (7, usually a 6.5) and the fit was great. I had to wear socks to cover the leather uppers; I have no idea how the fashionista bloggers wear them without socks between the leather and their ankles. The skin would be rubbed raw! I've worn these to the kids' soccer fields the past two weekends and they've been great.

Great fitting shoe, perfect for slush or rain! My parents bought me a pair for Christmas, which I needed a 1/2 size smaller for a better fit...Zappos customer service was as always, THE BEST!!

I LOVE these boots. Could have ordered a half size up though. Otherwise they are perfect to hike, take dogs to the park or just run errands when it's wet outside.

The reviews said that this fit smaller to size. I wear 7.5 and I ordered an 8. I re-ordered a 7.5 and fits perfect.

I bought the Sorel Dark Mountain boot which is more of a navy/denim shade. It's canvas not leather. I have other "Out and About" boots and some are leather making the comfort level different and leather is good for light snow and colder weather or fall. The Dark Mountain canvas boot is actually more comfortable than the leather ones I have. It rains a lot in my coastal area and the boots have proven to be waterproof and held their shape well. This was my first "Out and About" boot, but not the last. Also know that this boot is definitely not a snow boot and remember to go up 1/2" in size. Highly recommended.
I'd also recommend:
Vans, Puma, Saucony, Saloman, New Balance

These are probably the most UNCOMFORTABLE shoe I have ever put my feet into. I definitely should have worn them around the store a bit longer to test them. The top leather part digs into your leg, and rubs it raw. It's almost too painful to wear. I keep wearing them hoping that once the leather becomes a little worn, it might soften up and won't be so painful.
I'd also recommend:
Keen, North Face

I usually wear a size 9 in Sorel boots but I had to buy a size 10 and they fit perfectly with a sock..these are nice and rugged and very stylish they are a short cute boot, they look great with skinny jeans,,if you normally wear a size 9 in Sorel boots you should get a 10,.because a 9 won't fit at all...very nice boots though..a must buy--

Love this shoe. Cute and functional. I am almost always a size 9, but this 9 was too small. I returned for 9.5 and it fits perfectly.
