This is a ridiculous price for a sandal that is not even one-tenth the quality of a pair I bought (new) in 1987 for $5. If you remember the real Dr Scholl wood sandal, made in Italy, intended to exercise the leg muscles, suitable for almost any summer occasion - this is not that shoe. There is no toe grip, no arch support, no heel "well". The metal slide does not work well. The cheap rubber sole wears away in mere weeks. Dr. Scholl used to mean quality and value - I have no idea what the brand is trying to mean now.

These are not the original Dr Scholl wooden exercise clog. There is nothing for your foot to grip. Extremely disappointed! Dr. Scholl would be ashamed of this product! I had many pairs in the 70's and 80's. They now have a product that is uncomfortable and useless. Zappos thank you for your great service!

Though called "original" these shoes are not the same as the one's I've known and loved for decades. This is perhaps because they are now made in China - not Austria or Italy. The wooden sole is much heavier than my last pair in the same size. The sole is larger. The toe strap is attached farther forward and generates blisters on top of the toes. Someone tell Dr. Scholl's! Please make them the old way again!

These are ridiculous! Used to love these things in college about 20 years ago. LIVED in them. Now? Blisters all over the tops of my feet - never mind that the soles go VERY quickly down to the wood (that could have happened in college also, but I possibly didn't care). Anyway bought a couple of pairs of these AGAIN and I keep trying to wear them, but NO! Wore a pair on July 4th last year for the Chicago fireworks and ended up taking them off and walking on concrete, no matter if there were some stones on the ground. WALKING ON STONES was more comfortable than these things. Tried them again yesterday just for walking to the store and came back w/ blisters. For this cost? Save your money.

I bought these shoes because my mom had a pair that she LIVED in when I was a kid and I was feeling nostalgic. I've had them for over 6 months so I feel like I can now write an accurate review. These shoes are comfortable, considering that they're made from wood, and I had no problems with blisters. I didn't have to break them in at all. They're completely adjustable, but a bit difficult to adjust, which is probably why some reviewers thought thsy weren't adjustable. The metal clip pulls up from the part closest to the INSIDE of your foot. Take the shoe off, pull up on the interior strap and the clip will open. My problem with these shoes is that, as others stater, the sole wears down very quickly and the leather strap stretches out. I have normal width feet and due to the stretching, I've had to adjuat the strap smaller twice. I only have 1 hole left at this point. When the strap gets loose, these shoes become DANGEROUS to walk in. Your foot falls over the side of the shoe, and because it's wood, it hurts! It's like stepping on a pointy matchbox car in the dark. I would not recommend thess shoes.

I still have my original Scholl's from 1990's in red and these are NOT red. They are more like a coral color. I am returning.

I have worn the original Dr. Scholl's for years, I am 73, loved them. Last year I needed a new pair of original Dr. Scholl's. Guess what...the pair I received was not like the original Dr. Scholl's, in fact I still have a pair of the original sandal. The clasp on the current Dr. Scholl's does not have the original clasp. The clasp used now comes undone, causing one to fall out of the sandal. When my new pair of Dr. Scholl's clasp came undone I fell down 3 stairs. Fortunately I didn't get hurt. I called the company to complain. Sent the sandals back and received a credit back to my credit card. I would love another pair of Dr. Scholl's but will not buy another pair until the original clasp is brought back. And they have the nerve to call the present Dr. Scholl's are from the original collection.

Why are Scholl sandals so badly made these days? The ones you buy now have no pretence at a toe grip, without which you simply cannot keep them on your feet. The arch support is rudimentary and no longer includes a metatarsal support. The heel cup is nonexistent. They are heavier than the original 70s sandals which were made of beechwood. Dr. Scholl himself would turn in his grave if he saw these pitiful excuses for the Scholl Exercise Sandal. Yet Scholl have the cheek to call them "the Original"! They don't know what they're talking about and on top of that they charge $85 for them!! The 70s Scholl sandal was a wonderful design, hugely comfortable and sold at reasonable cost. Everyone had a pair and you saw them everywhere, men included. Now you never see people wearing them. That should tell the marketing boys at Scholl that something is very wrong, because what they produce now is, frankly, expensive rubbish. Compare the genuine article on the left here, with the expensive and poorly made one on the right. The difference is obvious.

These sandals are certainly not made like the original ones back in the 70's. There is only a slight toe grip and the strap is not adjustable. They are simply not wearable and they are going back for a refund. These were going to be my "go to" sandals this summer and I'm disappointed that they are now so poorly designed.

I started wearing these shoes when I was 16 years old. I had them in almost every color. I LOVED THESE SHOES.... and as I got older, it was hard to find them. I would run across them in different stores and buy what they had which was either a white pair or blue. But then they wasn't making them the same anymore. I love these shoes because they made my legs stronger. The little lump at the front of them would make my toes grab it and that would make my legs more stronger. So I would wear them all summer long, when I could. NOW I HAVE FOUND THEM AGAIN!!!! The original collection! They might cost a little more, but they are worth every penny. And they do have the lump in the front....THANK YOU, Zappos....I will be ordering more....

I have had two pairs of these shoes. I got them because they reminded me of my mom in the early '80s. She wore the navy blue ones every summer. I love how they look, and they are comfortable and easy to fit on my size 8 Wide feet. But they are DANGEROUS! In the first pair I skidded and slipped and fell a few times. That was a decade ago. I thought I must be less clumsy now. I tried again. I FELL CROSSING THE STREET IN NYC! Very scary. Because I have a young child now, and I often carry her across city intersections, I have thrown these shoes in the garbage. Not worth the risk, comfy, cute, and nostalgic as they are. I wish this weren't the case, and it was really hard to throw my fave summer shoes (and my fave summer style) away, but I forced myself for the safety of me and my child.

I wore these shoes in the 70s in my teens and 20s. As I've aged, this specific style has really forced me to walk slower and stand taller, just by the how I have to position my feet on the shoes. I took this factor of the style for granted when I was younger I really appreciate it as I've aged and my posture is not the best.

I have these in 4 colors presently, and I've owned many others all thru the years, starting in 1976. These are original as described and remembered. Perfect in every way, and very durable.

Footbed isn’t quite as contoured or as light as the originals, but once they break in, they’re still my favorite house/errand running shoes. Strongly recommend sizing down (not up) if you’re normally a half size; this will give you better control over the sandal when walking.

I bought these a week ago and I haven’t taken them off. They go with everything - I can wear them to and from yoga, or with a dress on date night. They felt great the moment I put them on. Didn’t have to break them in. I am usually a size 9 1/2 - the size 9 fits perfectly. I bought the white and now I’m eyeing the Camelot color.

Loosening the flap will make it comfy. I wished scholl will explain further how the fit should be. Inside sandal flap said Made in Italy. I'm usually size 7.5 and went with Size 7, and inside sandal says 38. It fits perfect in length.

They are so much like the original that I bought in 8th grade.
I still have them and was surprised to see that Dr Scholls
is still making them. My original pair are red. The pair I
just bought are black. Well constructed. I would buy them
again.

Just got my tan one's in the mail. Oh, wow how they take me back to my 1977 college days! Love it that the bump is there too just like I remember. Very comfortable and walking around in them brings back some really great memories.

Love the KS pattered upper. I have worn the original sandal since 1974 and appreciate the consistent quality.

I used to wear these as a teen and then again in my 30s. I had to throw my old pair after overuse and never replaced them. I got to thinking about them again and decided to finally replace. I put them on and they immediately felt great! These are such a classic and never go out of style!

I am a half size. So, after reading some of the comments, I decided to size down, rather than size up as I normally do. Wrong decision for me; I should have sized up. Sending back and reordering.

Before I get into the review, I have to issue the disclaimer that I have narrow feet, and flat arches.
Overall, In the brief time I’ve had them, I really like these. The faux-aged hardware looks really silly, but that’s my primary complaint. Other than that they remind me almost exactly of the pairs I had as a kid— down to the weight of the wood soles. I love the subtle feeling of alignment in my body when I put them on, and how unexpectedly relaxed they make my feet feel.
The leather is sturdy enough that it does take a few days of breaking in, my solution to avoid blisters during that process is wear them in brief spurts once or twice a day at first until they loosen. I also experienced sliding off one side as I was adjusting to walking in them again, but tbh I just recreated the slide on the opposite side of the sandal and now they’re legit perfect, lol.
I very, very strongly suggest sizing *down* if you wear a half size; this will give you much better control of the sandal’s movement than with a larger pair. In my experience, it’s best to give it a few days practice at home, until walking in them becomes so effortless and comfortable you almost completely stop worrying about them, and then you can wear them anywhere.
Last but not least, if you’re new to wearing this sandal, until you get the hang of them these sandals are great for walking at a slow to moderate speed, but definitely use care walking quickly until you’re really comfortable balancing in them.

Love this shoe. Bought it in white and camelot. Love the flexible sole. Has the shape and appeal of the 70's shoe but with a more comfortable sole. Unfortunately $88 is overpriced. Otherwise I would have bought more and would love to. $65 seems more appropriate.
