I am thrilled that these boots run small! I have wanted Frye boots forever and could never get them because they start at a 5 1/2 (my foot is a 4 1/2 - 5). The boots are absolutely gorgeous and fairly slim in the calf, which also helps me tremendously because my calves are very thin. I can't buy kids sizes because I have never found any tall/riding boots for kids by Frye. Oh, how I wish Frye would make smaller women's sizes! Order up a size and, provided you don't have large calves, you will fall in love with these boots!

Worth every penny! Most comfortable shoes and they look like a million bucks. Worth the time it took to save for them!

These boots are amazing. I wore them for the first time all day and had no discomfort at all. Usually, with boots, they have to break in a bit and might be uncomfortable for a bit. But these were not. Completely comfortable right away. I usually wear an 8, and an 8 in these fit perfectly. Beautiful boots and super comfortable.

I do love me a Frye boot! I have the Phillip short harness and Phillip military, so I already knew I like the Phillip footbed but needed a tall version. The Riding is perfect: fits true to size like the others, surprisingly easy to get on, and immediately comfortable. I was hesitant about a tall boot because my calves are big, but these went on easy and feel like they'll stretch enough to wear with skinny jeans without a problem. By comparison, I also tried on the Phillip Harness Tall and it was tighter in the calf and stiffer leather that didn't have as much give. I also wasn't sure about the half-zip, but it works the way it should to get them on and keep them fitted. I'm still a little ambivalent about how the half-zip looks, but my husband assures me it's cool. They are lovely boots. I got the dark brown and they go with everything. The leather is so soft and supple. I love a leather outsole, and the low heel is perfect for me. Since getting these boots, I haven't wanted to take them off - can't wait to wear them all winter!

These boots are BEAUTIFUL. The red color is really pretty in person. Very well made, as you'd expect from Frye. These are a little loose around the ankle on me, but still look fantastic.

Meh. I love Frye, and while the leather here is fabulous and the sole well-made and well-finished, the styling and fit make no sense. The zippers at the ankle are very heavy relative to how pliable the leather is -- so the zippers collapse and rub against my ankles. The loop at the top of the back doesn't lie flat against the boot, at least not on my skinny calves.

Ordered these in the dark brown vintage, 8.5. Felt tight and the color was too similar to a pair of Frye boots I bought a couple years ago. So back they went. I exchanged them for a size 9 in the whiskey color. Perfect! They are darker and richer in color than the photo and look great with black leggings. Gorgeous boots.

These boots are beautiful; however, the calf circumference is just tight enough that they are going back. Tight enough that they won't work with leggings or skinny jeans, and for the price I want a lot of options for dressing. I will shop an extended calf style.

These boots are so beautiful!! The leather is so soft and luxurious. They are a little hard to get on because of the short mid boot zipper, but is not a minus. I got the dark brown vintage color and did not like it at all!! I sent these back (free shipping both ways) and ordered the whiskey soft antique. This color brings out the quality of the leather. I am very happy with my second selection!

Ordered in Dark Brown, size 10 the calf circumference was 15 3/4" so sadly they are going back as that is too generous for me. Otherwise a great boot, soft leather consistent with Frye quality. Fit is the same as other Phillip styles. Dark Brown is the perfect riding boot color, and the sole is nice and grippy, not slick. The adjustable buckle at the calf is functional though I don't know why you would need to use it, the buckle doesn't get tight enough to cinch the calf and make it any more streamlined/slimmer.

Love these boots! Debated heavily between black or brown, I typically wear a lot of black and I already have a shorter black boot so I ordered the dark brown soft vintage and I couldn't be happier. There are some dark reddish/brown areas throughout the boot that look amazing with black pants. I needed to order the wide calf boot and they fit fantastic. I wear custom made orthotic inserts that fit in the boot perfectly, so although the boot has only moderate arch support, with the addition of my inserts they feel great. We had our first week of chillier weather in MN and I wore these boots every day! They are on the expensive side but worth the investment.

This is my second pair of Frye boots. The leather is beautiful, and I love the buckle detail. They do run small. I went up a size and actually wish I had gone a little larger. The toe is very tight. They become more comfortable after wearing them a while. I did have the calf stretched a bit, and still it is snug.

So, these boots man. The first day I wore them they gave me the worst blisters on my achilles I've ever had. I was at a crossroads - do I return them, or soldier on in the hopes I would someday wear them in? They are beautiful, high quality shoes, which anyone can see. I kept them, and I did, in fact, wear them in. Now I wear them almost every day. So if you're ok with a little bit of pain for a lot of pleasure, buy these and get your Equestrian Chic on.

These boots look great, but run tight. I ordered 8.5M and the calves are too tight. Don't think I could even wear leggings. The width of the foot seemed a little tight. Sadly will be returning. Quality of the boot is great!

I have other Frye boots that ran half a size too large, so I chose my true size 9½. These were half a size too small. I am sending back. They are out of stock on 10. These are beautiful boots. I would have preferred that the side zip went full length of boot instead of just at the ankle for ease of putting on and removing, but that would not stop me from buying them.

I love this boot, and it fits well and is very comfortable. Unfortunately, I broke my left foot a few years ago, from which my foot and ankle have never fully recovered, and because this boot has a zipper at the ankle only, it is far too difficult and painful to get the boot on and off that foot. Once on, they feel great and would be my favorite boots ever if not for the extreme difficulty in getting the left one on and off. If only the zipper went all the way up, I would have kept them and loved them.

I am normally between a 7 and 7.5, so originally I ordered a 7.5. It was at least a half size to large. I returned it for a 7 which is at least a half size too small. The toe box is too narrow and I have an average width. I really wanted these to work and I'm sorry to return them. The grey soft vintage is a beautiful taupe that's much darker than the photo.

I loved them, but had to return them because they didn't fit over my calf with my skinny jeans. I don't have that wide of calves either. Bummer. I really wanted them.

I wanted to love these boots, but I could not get them over my heel without a lot of work. I finally got the left one on over cashmere socks, but had trouble getting the right one on. When I finally did, it was too tight across the toes. Very sad to return these. The calf fit me fine and I love this style.

Very disappointed. My first pair of Frye boots and surprised by the very poor quality. The stitching is coming out that holds the leather to the zippers. Threads are coming loose at most of the seams. Not what I had hoped for when buying my first pair of long awaited "Frye" boots.
