The first thing I did was to take the laces off and break in the ankle. I used my bare hands to fold, crimp, roll, and grab/squeeze the leather. It became soft pretty quickly. But the leather doesn't feel like real leather. It feels vinyl. The wrinkles don't stay genuine. No matter how much I break them in the right ankle keeps hitting my ankle bone on the outside and bothers me. I will keep breaking them in. I wish they had not placed the rear pull tab on these. I avoid any boot with the pull tabs like plague because the pants get caught on them when I don't wear them rolled/folded up. But the price was right and I like the dark brown color so I bought these. Besides, the tabs are tiny. But still I am very tempted to chop them off with a pair of scissors.

These look nice but they're very narrow so I had to buy the next size up which look very long. Not comfortable for walking in long distances.

I've had these for 6 months now and they quickly became my go-to shoe for a business casual environment. I have a wide foot, so I ordered these in wide. The fit was great out of the box, true to my regular size. The sides were a little stiff at first, but quickly broke in. It may also have been me getting used to a boot-style rather than a low sided shoe.
What has really surprised me is that I'm able to wear these all day without the foot fatigue I had grown used to in dressier shoes. Typically, by the end of the day, the soles of both feet (The front pad) would be sore and raw. Now my feet feel great no matter how long I stay at the office or how many steps I've taken throughout the day.
I'd highly recommend these to anyone. I shyed away from Timberland initially because I thought of it as a... ummm... urban brand. But I realize now that was very silly. They are comfortable, stylish, and are priced in line with shoes of a higher pedigree. I will absolutely be buying again!

Good-looking, pretty comfortable. I've walked all around NYC in these and my feet didn't get tired. I've had compliments on how they look also.

I received the boots, threw them in my bag and flew to Portland to see my son. The amount of walking you do there is amazing, up and down hills, easily 6-7 miles a day. Put them on when I first got there and never took them off. My running shoes stayed in my room the whole week. I've been having about them ever since!

Sturdy shoes that go with just about everything. They conform to my feet and, in the space of hours, feel like a leather glove. I have owned a few of Timberland's Chukkas, but I only buy the ones without the hiking boot soles. These soles are a bit more suitable for the city and the suburbs. When you don't want to spend all day thinking about your aching feet, these are the shoes for you.

Previously bought the brown pair and love the quality and feel of the boot. I bought the black pair to complete my collection. They are comfortable and rugged right from the first wearing.

These chukka's look much better in person than in the photo. They are very comfortable and seem to be built to last, what else would you expect from timberland! Definite quality meets style as a dress shoe for suits or shoes for casual wear. Very happy with these chukka's!

I used these almost every day for over a year now and they're still holding up pretty strong. Solid construction and good quality materials. I wear these for work with business casual attire and casually with jeans, etc. Very comfortable and easy to put on/take off quickly. Recommended as an everyday pair.

Good fit. Break-in in one day wearing. Styish, but can also be a casual look. But, don't think that they are worth the regular retail price of $130. They are worth about $89 to me because of the rubber sole that wears out quickly.
