Wow! I'm not always big on responding on reviews but I have to share my thoughts on the Stinson. This is my 6th year doing R2R at the Grand Canyon. I've done it in Salomon's and in Now Hoka. This is the first year I've come out with no blisters or foot issues. My legs feel sore but great! I've had four knee surgeries on my left and thought my long distant running was doomed. I also have a pair of Cliftons now for road work. On fit, Stinson runs half size large or almost 3/4 if that's possible. The Clifton 1/2 size large. I have a wide foot and am pleased with the fit of both shoes. Looking forward to another soon! :)

Just wanted to add a PS to my first review...for those of you complained about the "tongue" ripping from pulling on it or the difficulty of putting these shoes on due to the bungee lace system, here is my remedy for that: Use a shoe horn! I do and have no problem at all and it saves you from breaking down the back of the shoe from stepping on it while trying to get it on. I happen to love the convenience of not having to tie my shoes so the shoe horn is an easy fix. Hope this helps!

Love these shoes! I am over 50, overweight, but trying to stay active. The problem is I have bunions, insertional achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciititis. After a week of wearing these shoes for walking my daily 3 mile walk, which includes hill work, my heel pain has diminished to zero! Normally, incorporating hills into my routine causes my achilles pain to increase, so I am happy to be able to get the extra workout without pain. I have already ordered a second pair.

This is not at all like the previous version of the Stinson Trail. It has a plastic-like upper which is harsh on the foot in the places it doesn't fit perfectly. The previous version fit like a glove. The tongue is hard and long on this shoe and hits my ankle, and the shoe is hard to get on because the laces come up so high. You almost need a shoe horn. Why did they do this to a perfectly wonderful shoe???

Why did they change the perfect shoe?? The updated version is not comfortable and fits entirely differently. I am so disappointed. I have tried the Mafate and the Kailua and neither comes close to the old Stinson Trail. Back to the drawing board searching for the perfect shoe.

I bought these shoes to run trails. They are so supportive. Stable on trails and supportive on streets. I brought them on my child's 8th grade DC trip and wore them every day from 5:30am to 10pm, walking all day. My feet were happy the whole trip. At first I thought they were ugly, just comfortable but I got a lot of compliments on them and now the look has grown on me!

These shoes are like hiking/running on pillows! I've been dealing with bunions due to years of alpine skiing & running. Walking the dog for 30 minutes killed my feet. I purchased these a month ago & love them.

I saw these in my local (awesome) running store but they did not have them in black. They are a comfortable replacement for my current model of Hokas, The Conquest which are worn out. The width is a little narrower but these shoes came with two sets of inserts, a flat pair and one with a little more support, which allows one to customize the fit. I am wearing them with Superfeet so I cannot comment on the support, though. I have plantar fasciitis and even though I walk about 30 miles per week with these shoes I do not have any pain. They are a little goofy-looking with the thick sole, but super comfortable to wear. Zappos' service was terrific as always.

I saw these shoes recommended on a TV show, so I thought that I would try them. I walk on a treadmill and hard paths several miles a week for fitness. My ankles were getting really sore. There is a lot of cushion in the Hoka One One. My ankles are feeling a little better. Some may not like the look of shoe. It does look a bit bulky, but is very lightweight.

I love these shoes. I've been getting an 8 in the Stinsons and found the 7.5 fit better. I walk about 10 miles a day and these really put a bounce in my steps.

I also like the Hoka Clifton, but not as much as the Stinson ATR's

These shoes are so comfortable. I use them for hiking and they have great traction. I have problem metatarsals and these are the only shoes that are comfortable enough for me to wear.

I absolutely love these shoes. I have not been able to find a pair of shoes that actually feel good on my feet in the last couple of years until I tried on the Hoka shoe. I've gone barefoot for so long not being able to find a shoe that fits and I really don't wan to take this shoe off!!

I found an ad in a magazine that prompted me to review these shoes Hoka One One in detail, so I did. After I reviewed, I compared the style & benefits of the different models. My decision where to order them from was Zappos as I never buy shoes without trying them on first. Prior positive experience with their return policy was the primary choice. They are the best running shoes I have ever purchased and I am NOT a runner. The arch support is wonderful. the hight of the sole of the shoe is more than usual but it is wonderful support. The soles grip the surface extremely well. And the color in the picture is not the color of the shoe is more of a coral color not the red color shown in this picture its self. I would order another exact pair of the shoes but there were a couple others that are in this category with the same manufacturer that I might want to try. The shoes come with cinch down laces and also with an alternative tie laces. The cinch down leases work fantastic, secure, and they don't untie.

Love these shoes! They run true to size, come with two different insole profiles and are less goofy looking than my other Hoka's. A dream for these worn out knees!

I have had back problems for the last five years and have consequently gained some weight that I am trying to shed via walking. Problem is that many shoes are either hard on my back or feet when I conducted extended walking. Voila, enter the Hoka Stinson shoes. They are fabulous. I can walk all day without pain in my back, knees or feet. The arch support is excellent. I read prior reviews that did not like the tongue on the shoe. I have no reference for comparison, by the tongue on these shoes does not bother me in the least. I also read reviews that these shoes ran large, I found them to be true to size. If you have a wide foot, these shoes might cause you problems. They have thinner inserts for wider feet but I found them to be great out of the gate.

Love this shoe! It was the answer to completing long runs without my feet hurting after. They also wash and dry nicely. After a few 4-5 months and training for a half marathon, the arch support seemed weak, but I slipped in the extra pair of inserts that came with the shoe and they felt great again.

Hokas are not the prettiest shoes you will ever wear but definitely the best, most comfortable shoe for your feet! I have bunions & wide feet my doctor does not recommend surgery; all shoes hurt my feet except these! I recently went to Disney World for a week and walked close to 60 miles in 7 days. I am happy, and pleased to say that my feet did not hurt at all!! These shoes are so comfortable I only wish I could have found them sooner! I am actually buying a 3rd pair this week!

Very comfortable shoes - these are my 3rd pair of Hokas - the first one, I loved Hokas so much I gave to my mom and replaced my original with these - highly recommend - they run true to size and are great if you have any bunions and/or painful feet issues. I exercise quite a bit and am so happy to have found Hoka they are my feet's savior.

I have been wearing MBTs for several years. Decided to try this Hoka Stinson ATR for a change. I must say I do love the look and feel of this shoe! I have several foot issues and this shoe definitely took a lot of the pressure off my ball of foot. If you have never worn this type of shoe before, please be sure to walk with a definite heel to toe gait. The more you exaggerate this method, the better the shoe will perform. It is designed to rock forward as you walk so take advantage of this and lead with the heel each time. Very important to do this. I am a walker, not a runner, so not sure how the runners rate this shoe. A keeper for me! Order true to your shoe size.

Great trail shoe. You'll appreciate this more and more if you're running over 20 miles. I ran an ultra in these and can't say enough great things. As others' feet were killing them by about the 50 mile mark, I had one small blister, and very comfortable feet!

I wear a size 8 in the Asics Kayano. My Hoka Stinson Lite's are a size 7.5 and perfect. However I tried both 7.5 & 8 in this shoe because I'll be wearing in the winter, running on wet, very hilly asphalt surface. Given the ups and downs & thicker socks I wanted more room in the toe box and got the 8 s. I'm considering purchasing the 7.5 for when I run on more even surfaces and don't need the extra room. Note: Soles grip slippery surface very well. My Stinson Lite's can't be worn running on golf course cart path if wet, no traction.

These shoes were recommended by my Dr after getting two different custom insoles and still had problems. I love them! I'm a nurse, on my feet a lot and have recommended them to several of my co-workers with foot problems!

I love these shoes. They provide so much cushioning and they break down slowly. I feel like I get a lot more comfortable mileage from these compared to traditional shoes. One thing that I learned from my last pair was to order half a size up if you are running hills to prevent toes smashing into the front.

I am an extremely active and fit person who is always searching for the latest and greatest shoe to meet my demanding needs and abuse I put my feet through. Initially, when I tried them on in the store I felt that the inner arch areas was ill fitting as my arch protruded outside of the sole of the shoe. However, after one day of use the concern I had has diminished. Also, the quick tie system can be restrictive in getting them on and off rather than regular laces not to be concerned though because they come with traditional laces in the event you don't want the system they have. They are very comfortable; however, I found them to run anywhere from 1/2 -1 size larger. My suggestion would be to order your true shoe size not sneaker size. If you are a 7.5 in sneakers, you most likely will be a 6.5 or 7 as they are bulky shoes that I believe run large. I have never worn a 6.5 in a sneaker until this pair. I am using them for a 6 mile run this evening and have high hopes.

These are very comfortable-except in the toe box which seems a little narrower than need be. The rest of the shoe has gotten looser over the last week. I had to ditch the bungee lace system in order to get them on out of the box - maybe if they made the laces out of elastic or a tad longer, this would not be necessary. Solomon seems to do these types of laces more successfully. I started out with the thinner insoles but now am going to use the thicker ones since the shoes have gotten looser. Hopefully this will help with my gait which seems altered. Overall I would recommend that you give these shoes a try!
