I have been wearing the Adrenaline GTX (gore-tex) for 10 years. I buy a pair every winter. I was worried when I read the posted reviews, that people were saying how badly the tongue hurt their feet and how uncomfortable it was. OK, here is the deal. If you are accustomed to this shoe and have worn it in the past....the tongue feels exactly the same as it does every single year. If a shoe is going to be truly waterproof, the tongue has to be sewn to the top of the shoe...so, yes, it feels a little more stiff than a traditional tongue that isn't sewn at the sides. Is it uncomfortable? No. It feels like every other year's model of this particular style shoe. I could not live without this shoe....I train outside year round, live in Northern MN where it gets COLD and I run in a lot of snow several months of the year. Without these WARM, WATERPROOF shoes...training wouldn't be nearly as fun. In sub zero temps, I wear one pair of thick socks. In temps 0-20 I wear a thin pair of socks. I NEVER have cold toes. In fact, sometimes my feet sweat in these even when it's sub zero. These shoes are awesome and you will not be sorry this winter to own a pair...much of the country has snow and is freezing already...do yourself a favor if you haven't trained in gore-tex in the winter and treat yourself to these!

I really like everything about these shoes, but there seems to be a flaw in the design. This is the second (identical) pair I tried, hoping that the flaw in the first pair was a fluke. It was not. There is a stitched seam near the tongue of the shoe that is so thick, it almost feels like steel. In addition, even if I tie the shoes very loosely, the upper part of the shoes cause pain across the top of both feet. I really wanted to be able to keep the shoes, but they are just too painful to wear.

Wanted to love this shoe as I had an earlier model. Should have heeded the reviews...there is a substantial seam on the medial edge of the tongue that is very uncomfortable. I am afraid to keep the shoes hoping that the seam will soften with use. 3rd pair of Brooks I have returned!

Got this to replace Gore-Tex Montrail trail runners. The shoes fit snugly at first but were perfect after a week of medium use (the metatarsal support took some getting used to). Excellent waterproof performance and traction through mud and muck.

I like the sewn in tongue, as shoes with non-attached tongues tend to be more uncomfortable when the tongue wrinkles, slides around and causes pinching, etc. I am wearing these shoes right now and have no sense of pressure on the tops of my feet at all, so I am not sure what the other reviewers mean. I also have a pretty high arch, very wide forefoot, and a narrower heel. These shoes fit great, have a decent amount of cushioning and I am hoping they will allow me to run more with my new dog. A lot of my friends here in the Lake Tahoe area train in this shoe; it's cold, snowy and wet here, and the Gore-Tex is superb for that. It's the go to shoe, I guess. I've always been a Saucony or Asics fan, but these feel the best in the toe box, which is good for a midfoot striker like me.

I'm ordering my second pair! Love these shoes. Great support for my 59 year old feet and my orthotics fit without any problems. Walked all around Disneyland in a sometimes heavy rain in March without wet feet!

These would have been great, only I ordered 2 sizes (different sites due to availability) and the seam where the GoreTex is sewn together for the tongue is on both sides of the top of your foot at at the end of the seam, they knotted and cauterized the knot, so it rubs terribly on the top of my foot. In the other pair, one knot was not that bad, but I think that is poor design. I have had other GoreTex running shoes. Asics makes the seam up the middle of the tongue and there is no knot under the laces to rub your foot. This shoe was the one I chose, because I wanted a trail shoe for Yosemite. Oh, well! I will try inserts in the Merrel GoreTex trail shoe to get arch support.
I'd also recommend:
Asics, Merrell, not Salomon

I bought these per the advice of my podiatrist. I have plantar fasciitis very badly in my right foot. However, I don't have flat feet, I have a very high arch. The shoe I thought was great at first but how can you tell when you aren't allowed to wear them out of the house. One day I was not going to be leaving so decided to wear them all day in the house. After a couple hours the top of my right foot really hurt. I took the shoe off and inside the shoe where the tongue is, there is a really hard nodule where everything is sewn together. It isn't like a regular shoe. The tongue is sewn to the shoe all the way up. I took pictures thinking I could post those on here but apparently this isn't possible. Either way, this is a great shoe for someone who needs support, has plantar fasciitis, but not a high arch. My right arch is much higher than my left. My left foot did not have the same problem. I am very disappointed because my feet didn't hurt on the bottom side like in other shoes, this one just dug into the top of my foot.

I didn't feel any pressure points as other reviewers described, but the toe box is narrower and not as high as the toe box on the Brooks Ghost so I chose the Ghost.

Great shoes. I love the comfort and the support. I would like a little more padding inside as in the previous Brooks shoe I purchased. Recommend these shoes for anyone that loves to walk for exercise.

I bought these to replace a pair of Brooks Trance that they no longer make, which was their best shoe. These shoes do not have as much cushion as the trance but these are waterproof. I probably wouldn't but these again because after wearing them for a little bit my arch starts to hurt. I give Zappos 5+ stars! I have feet that always hurt and being able to try different shoes with free and fast shipping is a life saver!

These shoes have a defect, that many pointed out. The upper sewing on the right side of the tongue has a very hard knot (bulk) of fabric, that makes a good indent and bruise on the top of your foot. There is no way to fix it or would have kept the shoe.

This style has the tongue sewed in place which ends up bothering the tops of my feet, no matter how loose I tie them. I have only worn them a couple times and both times I paid for it with foot pain for a couple days afterwards. I have worn Brooks Glycerins for several years now and love them, thought I would try a different style but I guess I should stick to what I like.

Not as comfortable as the last pair. I had to keep them laced loosely or they hurt the top of my foot.

I've bought the Brooks Adrenaline GTX each year now for the past three years. They have all been great for an outdoor boot camp I do three times a week. My feet have always stayed dry and warm, even in downpours but never too hot. Unfortunately, these particular shoes have torn. I bought these back in April 2015. It is now October 2015 and the toe/sole of one of the shoes has completely torn away from the upper on one shoe - without any reason or misuse - and the other shoe has a spot near the arch where the upper is splitting from the sole as well! For the price, these need to last me at least a year, and used to. I haven't been any harder on them than normal. Looks like they are lowering the quality and that is too bad because I love the support these provide. I'll be calling Brooks before I make another purchase of these style of shoes, or any Brooks shoes going forward.

All of these shoes sent to Zappos must be defects! Every one I have tried in this Brand and Style# has a "knot" in the material on the left shoe that hits on the upper right side of your Left foot -- it's near to where the tongue and stitching meet the side of the shoe as the tongue doesn't move freely/it's connected to the side. You can feel this immediately and the knot will leave a major indent in the top right upper of your left foot -- doesn't feel good and not something that you can "even get by with", really bummed because I really liked the styling and color combo of the shoe, but comfort is a necessity!
