I have ordered these shoes every year and love them. This year they are much more narrow than they have been in the past. I usually order an 2-E width and they were very tight. I exchanged it for an 4-E and it fit perfectly.

Excellent shoe. Very comfortable. I am 6'5" and 240 lbs. and this shoe gives strong support when I run on the treadmill or on the trail. Shoe runs true to size, but just a tad narrow. I have normally worn NB, but these are very comparable.

This is a tremendous shoe for those of us with flat feet. It's the ONLY shoe I truly feel comfortable in. Worth the price.

I am about as flat footed as they come and I hate running, so I looked for shoes that are good for flat footed runners and I came across the Brooks Beast 14. I've tried and been dissatisfied about every flat footed solution short of custom orthotics. I ordered them in the same size as my previous pair of Nike Free Run's and they fit perfectly, so that may help if you are coming from Nike. First thing to note is these shoes are incredibly heavy compared to the lightweight Nike's, about 50% heavier. However, the amount of support and flat-foot specific design was absolutely incredible. My first time using these shoes was a totally eye opening experience, all of the normal strain on my ankles, knees and shins was immediately gone. My pace had to slow down a bit for about a week as my legs adjusted to the weight, but it was absolutely worth it because of the overall improvement in comfort I experienced. I'm a big fan of these shoes. I've only had them about 2 weeks, so I can't comment on durability, but if you are flat-footed, these are an excellent alternative to custom orthotics.

Brook is a great company, I have been quite impressed with their service and their products but be warned the Beast shoes have gone through changes over the past few years. Sure, they are still outstanding shoes but the problem is the sizing. For example if you wore the Beast 11 in, for example, size 10 4E, when the Beast 12 came out, you would want to go up to at least a 10½ size in 4E width (aka Extra Wide). 4E is the widest width Brooks make and you can achieve a tiny bit more width the larger the shoe you go. For the Beast 14, they still continue this trend, so if you were a previous Beast 11 wearer and you skipped the Beast 12 and went straight to the Beast 14, make sure you buy half a size bigger. If you were a Beast 12 user, you should be able to fit in the same size for the Beast 14. I am not too wild about the redesigned tongue area of the shoes, as there is not much movement in them like there was, but overall they are great fitting shoes especially for larger men. I wore a size 12 4E in the Beast 11, tried that same size in the Beast 12 and felt the shoes were too tight and much too painful. For the Beast 14 I tried on the same size 12 4E as well and again too tight and painful. I went up to a size 12½ 4E in the Beast 14 and they fit much more comfortably. I do wish there were a few more color options, I believe a new color will be added later this Fall 2015 (silver/gold/grey) and then in Fall 2016 we will see a new model altogether. But overall the Beast 14 will not disappoint as soon as you find the proper size.

If you are a big guy running for your health and not looking to set world records, this is your shoe. It is sturdy, yet soft and will take many miles of slow pounding. Maybe a little heavier than some shoes but if you're in it for the long haul this is the shoe for you.

I wanted to wait until I put enough miles into these shoes before writing a review. 20 miles later, I think I know everything I need to about these shoes--they're not right for me. They're comfortable, fit correctly, and offer great support, but did not alleviate my shin splints the way I thought they might. I know a shoe doesn't 'fix' shin splints, but something about the way the shoe measures has changed my running style slightly and moved me back into bad habits. Nothing wrong with the shoe, just wrong picking on my part. I could see this shoe working for someone looking for something else.

These are probably the best athletic shoes I've ever owned. At 6'6" and just a tad over 400 lbs I'm a test for any shoe or boot. I usually destroy them in short order - mostly under 1 year. But I bought two pair of these 9 months ago and have been wearing them nearly every day. The only problem I've run into is that the bottom layer of sole on each shoe is starting to come off (delaminated I think is the right term). But they provide plenty of support, look good, and fit well. I look forward to trying the v16 later this year.

I can't find anything else that fits as nice as these. I have extra wide feet and most shoes are too narrow especially in the middle/arch area. I'm not a fan of the style of these shoes, but comfort is way more important. I was using the extra wide green Superfeet with these, but I grew to hate them. My feet felt worse. They were recommended to me, but they have absolutely no cushion. The good thing is that they don't break down so at least it's a consistent feeling. The insoles in these shoes are basic, thin and degrade quickly. Do yourself a favor and buy new insoles. I have had good luck with the New Balance IPR3030 Pressure Relief insoles. They are available in wide (it says Wide 2E - 6E on the bottom of the insole). I wish New Balance offered a wide insole in something other than the pressure relief insole. I don't need or like the pressure relief bump in the middle of the insole. However, the cushioning in the NB insoles around the ball of the foot and heel is amazing compared to the Brooks insoles. It takes a few days to get used to the bump in the middle of the insole, but overall it feels great once you break it in. I've tried a lot of different extra wide shoes and nothing beats these. I've also tried a lot of wide/extra wide insoles and can't find anything better than the New Balance IPR3030 wide. Try out the IPR3030 if you already have the Beast 14 shoes. It's a much thicker insole and provides a lot more cushion. I buy two pairs of these + NB IPR3030 wide insoles and do 60+ miles a week (alternating between shoes every day). I'm hard on these shoes and I go through a few pairs a year. My feet feel great and it's worth the expense to not get injured.

The shoe is a great fit and feel I can walk in them all day. I've yet to take them for a run as I want to brake them in first but so far it's looking to be a good run. I am a severe-pronator with wide flat feet and this is the shoe I've been looking for. However, I'm not sure if it's normal for wearing this purpose-designed shoe , but I do feel a little off balanced when I take off the shoes after walking in them all day. Still an awesome shoe. Thank you!

The Brooks Beast is exactly what it is named for the Beast. I am about to buy my third pair and couldn't be any happier with the results I have had with my feet. I have Plantar Fascitis and the Beast has improved my walking ability and combines comfort, support and durability like no other. I highly recommend the Beast for anyone that has discomfort in their feet while standing or walking. The arch support helps align your body and will eliminate your knee, hip and back pain. Go get you a pair today and you won't be sorry.

Great shoes, recommended by my podiatrist to help with plantar fasciitis. This is my 8th pair and Zappos is a perfect source.

The fit of the Beast '14 seems pretty much the same as that of the Beast '12. That is to say, I normally wear a 12D and had to get these in a 13D. It is a great supportive shoe in every way its predecessor is for a flat-footed heavy-set guy.

Excellent shoe for my overpronater friend. He had stopped so many activities before getting these shoes. He was just so down and depressed because the arthritis in his ankle, bone on bone and knee problems were too painful for him to walk with. He was taking one stair step at a time and sitting in the chair most of the day. With these shoes he can walk miles again and rarely has complaints of pain. He has lost 10 pounds from being active again and will wear no other shoe now. It took him a long time to believe the shoes could actually be what made the difference, but he is a firm believer now. He normally wears an 11, but size 12 Wide is a much better fit. He liked that he could try the shoes on and return the shoes with no hassle for a larger size and width. Great service Zappos and great products!! Thank you!

My husband is a big fan of Brooks shoes, so for his birthday I got him a pair of the Brooks Beast. These are his favorite so far. The price was the same on Zappos that I found at other stores, but these were shipped to my door for free. I love Zappos. These are a great shoe!

Excellent running shoe. I've been wearing this particular style for many years now because of its reliability and comfort. The sizing is consistent and comfortable.

An outstanding sneaker! I've been buying Brooks for years. I switched to this model due to the discontinuation of a prior one, but with no ill effects! I've been repurchasing this shoe for last 3 years.

I am a walker with flat feet as well as plantars fasciitis. Also, I am larger than average That being said, I walk 5-8 miles on a daily basis. Findings a supportive shoe has been a struggle to say the least. Most athletic shoes start out fine, but the cushioning and support do not hold up. I decided to try Brooks Beast after reading about them in a on line running forum. I have been more than happy with my purchase. Firm support that has been holding up after about a month of daily use. My plantars has improved also.

I bought these for my 13 year old son. It's incredibly difficult to find shoes that fit him correctly, but I decided to give Brooks a try since I love how they feel on my feet. After going through several different brands of shoes, this pair was the winner. I'm thankful that Brooks has the wide option for these shoes. My son is happy and he loves the cushioning.

I buy these shoes every year for my husband, who has extremely flat feet. He has tried everything, and these shoes help more with his pronation than any other shoe. They work with his orthotics, too.
