I just received and am overjoyed with this coat. If you knew how many coats I have ordered and returned in the last year looking for the perfect winter coat that wasn't too heavy, too overly designed with tacky doodads, fake fur, annoying logos, down leaking out excessively, too shiny, etc...you would understand how monumental that statement is. I've become the pickiest, most critical coat customer on the planet. If the tiniest fault was to be found, I surely would find it within the first two seconds of putting it on. So far, Wow. Five stars up front, and hopefully I will not find some fatal flaw with the quality over time, but it's a great start so far. Let me do a quick comparison for you of only TNF options currently on the market - Got the Gotham parka. Would have loved that, great fit, nice matte fabric, very true to size, only the bottom flared out like a massive bell which made me look quite ridiculous. On to the Metropolis. The black color I ordered had a shiny finish and this combined with the wrinkly texture made it look like I was wearing a Hefty bag. However, that also was a great fit and true to size...just wasn't sure I could get past the garbage bag aesthetic. On to the Transit parka which shed feathers everywhere, was lighter and thinner and not as warm as the Metropolis. True to size was its only positive. And then I finally broke down and decided to order the Miss Metro. Read many reviews of how the sleeves were too tight and it was too form fitting and that people were experiencing issues with the zipper. Not wanting to go through another episode of ordering and returning, I went to a store where they carried them. Naturally they were fresh out of size medium. The small was very tight and form fitting and the large was massive. I went home and took a chance on ordering this coat in a medium as I am a medium in many other TNF jackets and coats. Size 34D chest, 37 1/2 inch hip, round tummy, 5'4 ish, a average and moderately squishy 50 year old build, and I found the medium was a perfect, comfortable fit all the way through. It hits just below my knee. The arms were not the least bit tight. The shoulders were comfortable as well, no pulling or tension there. I tried it on with layers of a thinner to medium cable knit sweater and a tee shirt under that which is the basic thickness I usually wear. I hate bulky sweaters. So all the reviews about the tighter arms may be due to that. And I did not find any issues with the zipper sticking thus far. I also worried I would find the diamond pattern unflattering. I would prefer the chevron quilting, and I know they aren't around in TNF longer parkas this year, but I think this is the styling is much more flattering than all the others, without making me look too old (as the Transit parka with its unflattering diamond pattern did) or giving the appearance that I wanted to look younger than I am (as I thought the Metropolis did). An odd note about the sizing...the Metropolis is said to be roomier while the Miss Metro is supposedly a more form-fitting coat. The exact opposite seems to be true. I still didn't return the Metropolis yet. I tried on the Miss Metro and the Metropolis with the exact same under layers and there was actually more room in the Miss Metro across the hips and the middle than in the Metropolis, and the Metropolis looked too form fitting with two light layers on, while the Miss Metro looked exactly right and was super comfortable. And best of all, the matte fabric looked flattering on me and not in the least reminiscent of a Hefty bag. Finally, the hood fit over my whole head, not just the back half, as all the other TNF hoods seemed to do. I am just so pleased with this coat and after a year of searching for a minimally styled, lightweight but warm, well crafted coat -- have not tried in freezing temps as yet though I am sure it will be at least as warm or slightly warmer than the Metropolis -- I found a keeper at last.

I've bought Miss Metro and Metropolis parkas for comparison. Miss Metro is not as shiny as Metropolis but it has more flattering fit and a more feminine design than Metropolis which is very light and very warm but it needs more under layers than Miss Metro for a windy day. I've read previous reviews that says that Miss Metro has tight sleeves. I measured the sleeves for comparison because I didn't feel any tightness in Miss Metro even my arms, let's say, are not skinny. Measurements showed: The two of them have the same cut and thickness. Miss Metro also noticeably warmer than Metropolis parka. Anyway, I still need to decide which one to keep - I love them both!

I absolutely love this coat. It is super warm and has a flattering fit. I purchased the coat in the baroque purple. However, due to the matte finish, the dye has rubbed off onto any light color clothing I wear. I have several shirts and even a pair of gloves that have turned purple. I exchanged it for another coat, hoping that it was a problem with that ink lot, but it happened again. I hated to return this coat but I am not okay with my clothes turning purple. I purchased the North Face Metropolis Down Parka instead and am happy.

I just received this coat and love it. I ordered a large in black. I am 5'8, 150 lbs. I am a size 10 in clothes and usually a size 10/12 in coats. I am a little broader across the shoulders. The medium would have been too tight in the arms if I wanted to wear something bulky underneath. Otherwise, I did not find the arms too tight. The coat hits just above my knees. It is very comfortable, light weight and much more flattering than I expected. I like that the material is not shiny. The coat looks much better than in the picture shown.

Absolutely loved this coat. It runs a little small. I tried to order in a larger size, but they were out. This was a prior year model. Seems that the Metropolitan replaces it. I liked the Miss Metro better than the Metropolitan because it has snap closure as well as the zipper.

The hood is very shallow - it comes forward only to my hairline, which looks funny and renders the hood useless in snow and wind. The cords to adjust it are inside, and hard to get to if you have long hair (also extremely difficult to adjust - I can't imagine trying to do so in wind and snow!) My old TNF Metropolis from 10 years ago is still in great shape and has a nice, deep hood. I can't order the Metropolis style again because of the ugly patterned lining. The navy is classic but a printed pale pink topo print interior? Ew. Clashes with everything! TNF has really changed.

If you are petite this probably is not the parka for you. I am 5' 3" and it fell about 6 inches below my knees and belled out at the bottom. It looked like I was wearing a hoop skirt. It is very warm and stylish but if you want something shorter like the picture shows, this is not it.

I bought it for the Chicago winters and it is not warm enough for sure.
I have a 600 down fill from 6 years ago that was warm and is now worn out. I wish those would be reintroduced
I wish I could return it as it did not serve the purpose at all.

My family has had coats from north face our entire life but lately we have noticed that the quality has gone down a lot
I own a miss metro and my husband a triclimate jacket we upgraded last year.. his fleece jacket is in horrible condition and my miss metro the feathers are coming out!!! My daughter spilled some juice in it and I washed it and dried as per the instructions with tennis balls and all... the feathers have clumped up and the stiched packets are half empty... the weather has been sooooo cold when I called the north face store they said we have to send it in to check and it would take 7 weeks ... I have only one jacket and I Dono what to do.. they have life time warranty !! I had hoped for some solution but I can't wait that long in Michigan winters!!!

THE BEST WINTER COAT!! I am only 5'3" but I love how this coat fits, and it is SO warm. We have long winters here in the Poconos of PA and NOT ONCE was I cold when I wore this jacket. I wish I had found it years ago. I am typically a small but I purchased the medium jacket so I would have room to layer and I think it was the perfect choice. Shout out to Northface - this is an amazing product. Also easy to wash and dry!

This coat is well made but it was a little "puffier" than I wanted and I was afraid it wouldn't be waterproof. The fit was true to size.

Bought one for myself, and one for my daughter. We both love it, and perfect for our Midwest winters.

I absolutely love this coat. It is lightweight, very warm and the fabric is soft. This is the first winter coat I’ve owned that had a zipper that zips easily and smoothly. I wasn’t sure about the color, navy, but it’s very attractive and a pleasant break from black. I highly recommend this coat.

Perfect size small! Fits well and looks so nice. I'm sure it will be warm this winter. I love the urban navy color- it's very dark and classy looking.

Great deal on this jacket. My daughter goes to school in Chicago and we cannot buy the right coats in Texas. Zappos makes it so easy to send things to her asap.

The fit was as expected. It was the true definition of an xl and with enough space to layer sweaters underneath. It's really soft and warming dur to the down feathers. I'm not sure what it means by responsibly-sourced down feathers. Those who are againdt wearing animal products might be against wearing this even though its comfort and fit are too great to say "no" too.

I purchased this coat as a 2018 Christmas gift for a daughter. However, I would purchase it for myself if I needed another coat. I think she will like it because she will be warm in the winter when she walks her dog. There does seem to be a slight problem with the double zipper. I'm going to allow her to make the decision.

It was very warm and comfortable. I ordered a size up thinking I would need the extra space to layer sweaters underneath. However, the warm down material assured me that the coat would be warm enough on its own, without extra layers. It has a soft and comfortable feel. I don't feel fully comfortable wearing down feathers but the tag says the down was sourced from responsible sources. I don't really know what that means, but for those who live in cold climates and need the extra protection, this coat is for you.

Day one of receiving this coat in the green color and I am in love. I was worried about how it would fit because of some reviews I saw. I must say I’m a true medium and that’s the size I ordered. It fits perfect with plenty of room for a sweater underneath. I’m 5’3 and it hits just below the knees. I took my dog for a quick walk here in MN and it’s plenty warm for me. Also, the matte finish is perfect IMHO.

I love this coat! I live in MN where it gets extremely cold. This is my go-to jacket in the frigid weather. I've had one in the tan color for a few years and now I'm onto ordering another in black.

I have been in search for a winter coat for about 2 months now... after ordering a few coats from a few different brands- that I did not like, I found this jacket. It finally arrived, and this is my best friend now. I will NEVER go back to any other coat.
Just wishing the coat hood would be attached, and for me I found the coat a little too long but worth it.
Thank you NF

I prefer to buy this jacket because it's not polyster , inside is goose feather. That's why it's good quality and light. If you want best protection for Ny or Chicago winter , that's the best jacket for you. It's warm not to hot like cheap Polyster material , and offering you full body protection which is really light when you compare with it's size.Price is reasonable for a well made North Face quality , which is coming with lifetime warranty.

I really like this coat. It's slightly athletic but still works to wear on an everyday basis. Comfortable and warm as well. I'm 5'7" 115 lbs with prominent shoulders and small hips, the small worked for me. I'm not always an easy fit, I'm glad to have found this coat.
