Love this jacket, but too small in the armpit area. I knew the medium would not fit me (despite what the online size guide kept telling me). Should have gone with the large. I am 5-8inches tall, 155, and athletic build. The online size guide recommended a medium. It fit snugly elsewhere but was too tight in arms. Now I am afraid the large will be too bulky. We'll see. Awesome jacket though.

I love this coat. It looks great and gives me the shape of a human even though it's really insulated and warm. I really like the Color, it's a good alternative to wearing black all winter. It's also very comfortable. I wore it on a plane and put the hood up and it felt like I had my own personal sleeping bag. My only complaint is that the front zipper is a little difficult to engage because you have to get the two zippers lined up perfectly. I have a feeling that if something is going to break on this coat in the future it's going to be that zipper. I highly recommend the coat.

I love the style and look of this jacket! Unfortunately it was really tight under the arms, which I'm finding happens with a lot of the newer "stylish" jackets. I'm 5'5 1/2, weigh 113ish and have a small frame with somewhat broad shoulders. I bought the SM and it fit perfectly except for the armpits (when worn with a fleece). If you don't need to wear layers or if you don't have broad shoulders, you'll probably be fine. I hate sending it back.

Not warm at all, more like a shell. Looks great, although snug armpits. Medium fits fine as I am medium. But, once you put on all the layers underneath to keep warm it is a very tight, sausage like fit. It gets cold in NYC and once below freezing I need to wear a long sleeve shirt, a wool sweater and a permaloft jacket - yes another outerwear winter jacket - underneath to be warm. Even then my shoulders and arms are still cold. I have another short winter jacket (Mountain Hardwear) that I can just wear a t-shirt under and be toasty warm, but it is short. Bought this because it was long, but it is not the least bit warm. So sorry I spent the money on this. Just a stylish expensive shell.

BEST coat ever. I am tall athletic 5'9" and 160lb SIZE M coat. This coat is long enough & so warm -30degC windchill is not so bad. Charcoal color matches all and has flattering fit. Zip Chest Pocket inside is perfect for smartphone & earbud. Hand pockets Zip and are roomy enough enough for wallet, keys, gloves and still fit my hands, without making my hips look bulky/weird. Seriously BEST coat. Waterproof for sleet/snow days.

I recently purchased this jacket after taking a new job in the city and the unknown of what kind of winter I would be dealt with. This year has proved to provide a harsh commute that my standard wool jacket would not have been able to withstand. This year's record breaking 2015 storms have really put this jacket to the test. I love this jacket and really grateful that I invested in a North Face product that would keep me dry and warm throughout various commuting experiences I was going to be to be in. Whether it would be a long wait outside for a period of time to an extreme heated place place like on an MBTA car with the heating on full blast and the additional heat surrounded by other people, it cooled me down quickly. I would say this product is worth purchasing and hope it serves me a couple of years very well with the conditions we have up here in the NorthEast! The only thing I would recommend is if North Face were to include some sort of reflective pieces around the seams of pockets or collar areas. Because I had instances of walking home around areas that were not safe around vehicles late in the evening where a driver could not see me in an entirely black coat. This would be an added safety element that I wish was included. But otherwise I am rating this jacket highly.

The perfect jacket for urban living. Cozy warm and not bulky, plus the hood is warm and functional. Thank you North Face and don't ever skimp on quality or style.

The parka is warm, but fits a little tight in the arm pits. However, overall it is warm and a good length. It does not have that marshmallow puffy look that so many parkas have, but still has the warmth of a puffy parka. Hood is nice and can be detached, if that's your preference.

Absolutely love this coat! Exactly what I've been searching for. It's not too "puffy" as I've seen in other jackets and is extremely warm in these Northern Illinois winters. I am 5'7" and ordered the small and it hits me about 6" above the knee. Definitely would recommend this coat to anyone - super warm without being shapeless and bulky. The charcoal grey looked a bit green to me in the photos; however, when it arrived it is a true charcoal color.

This is honestly the best coat ever. I'm from Chicago but currently live in Iowa. So, the winters are extremely cold and it's necessary to find a coat that covers a lot. I was hesitant to buy this coat because of the price, but the quality is honestly worth it. I got the black with the light "fur" trim. I wish I could add a picture because it really is great. I read the reviews and a lot of people said that it was tight in the shoulders, but I didn't have that problem at all...and I have very wide shoulders. I'm 5'4" with a muscular build and I got a medium. It fits perfectly. I have no issue wearing several thick layers underneath. It keeps you cool and it keeps you warm at the same time. I travel a lot in the midwest, so it's really only practical for me to have one coat and this is perfect. I highly recommend getting this coat. My only complaint is that the waist doesn't have a pull-string to cinch it in more if you'd like, but that honestly so minor it doesn't really matter. It's beautiful, warm, and very comfortable.

I'm 5'0, 95 lbs. Maybe I'm too little for this jacket, but I ended up swimming in the XS. I think the sizes run a little big.

I am a loyal North Face coat wearer and my last one lasted almost 10 years before some of the stiching was coming undone. This coat is the warmest coat for a very cold Chicago winter! I don't need to layer this up with sweathers underneath, a nice long sleeve shirt will do! Love my NF Arctic Down Parka!

This is an awesome coat for warmth. Even though all my North Face hoodies and jackets are a medium, I had to re-order in a large, as the shoulder area was just too tight with any layer underneath. I wish the large was not so ample in the waist and hips, but for the price it beat out Patagonia in price, fit, and details. I know I will be a clone here in Chicago on the El platform with this jacket, but I am now ready for any Polar Vortices thrown our way!

Excellent jacket, super comfy and warm! It's pretty sleek and feminine even though it's a solid winter jacket. Runs slightly on the smaller side so keep that in mind! I'm looking forward to winter head with my new purchase! Super fast shipping, thanks Zappos!

After last Winter, I wanted to avoid being cold at all this year. This coat definitely does the trick. Super cozy, totally windproof, also water resistant. Long enough to provide more coverage than a hip length ski jacket. No hat needed since the hood is so warm too. I also really like that it's not a quilted puffy coat - which is pretty ubiquitous these days - but it's as warm as any quilted coat since it's down filled.

Worth the investment - so warm I start to sweat wearing it on my way out the door. Perfect for negative 40 degree days in Minnesota! The Weimaraner Brown is gorgeous - a nice neutral color - and the style is wonderful.

This is extremely warm! I live in Connecticut and so far have worn it down to about 10°. I am a light commuter (basically it is worn waiting for the bus or walking for up to 30 minute stretches at a time). I cannot comment on being outside all day, but for what I do, I am extremely warm without having to add extra layers (I have been comfortable in as little as a t-shirt underneath). I often get warm when inside wearing it for too long. The hood stays put! Even with wind, when the hood is up, the hood is up. You do not need to worry about it blowing off. The length is great. I am 5'1" and was looking for something that would keep the lower half warm. It hits just above the knee and paired with boots, most of my legs are covered and warm. It has deep pockets! I never worry about my keys, phone, or gloves falling out like I have with other coats. But the zipper can be a little difficult. You start to get used to it, but for such an expensive coat you would think that they could do better than a clunky plastic zipper. The sizing was hard to pin down. I am 5'1" and 135 pounds. The small was too tight and the medium is a little on the looser side. Because of this, the coat does not quite give me a fitted shape, but I am totally comfortable wearing a sweatshirt underneath. I would rather be warm than stylish! Mostly, I have only had it for a few weeks and cannot comment on how good it lasts season to season a good winter coat is an investment and I would say this one is worth it. Although this is my first winter season with it, I have every reason to believe that it will hold up since it is a North Face.

I bought this coat because I love the style (it's not quilted) and the sophisticated color (graphite gray) and the colors of the faux fur on the hood is great too. Overall, I live in Chicago and this is the coat I've worn during the January single digit temperature days with a negative eighteen (-18) degree fahrenheit windchill and I was perfectly warm. I was wearing 3 layers underneath, which fit under a size small, but it kept me warm and dry! Hood stays up too, doesn't fall down from the wind. On sizing: I'm 5'5" and 115lb so at first I naturally bought an XS, which was way too small. It fit great if I was wearing 1 layer, but who does in the wintertime? It was painfully tight in the armpits and I couldn't zip it up if I was wearing 3 layers underneath: long sleeve shirt, sweater, and a vest. XS was returned and I bought the Small...much better! Armpits fit well, can zip it up with 3 layers - but not all the way (last couple inches) when wearing a scarf. The bottom half of the coat isn't as fitted as I would have liked. It kind of has a bell shape silhouette to it. Because of the sizing issue I gave this coat a 4/5 stars.

I read the reviews on this coat and Im usually a small or xs in shirts or coats but because everyone said the armpits of this coat were tight I ordered a medium.. MISTAKE. It came and it was HUGE and where it was supposed to be cinched at the waist was huge! So order this true to size, sending back for an XS since they're sold out of small. Nice coat overall, stylish, long and warm. My friend has it so I know it's warm which is why I ordered it in the first place. :)

Great jacket in every way, except as other reviews stated, it is too tight in the armpits, and with a bulky sweater will be very uncomfortable, so sadly have to return.

Warm is one way to describe! Fit is great, mid calf for me. No figure in this jacket, but it's not meant to be stylish, but functional! I love the fur hood, wish more had this feature as the reason for the fur is less wind in the face (it's not a style thing but a warm thing). Con: I'm 5'1, 150lbs, 34DD chest...and the arms are really high! In a long sleeve shirt I feel the coat at my armpits, no sweaters or sweatshirts under here! Its very uncomfortable as the arm holes are really high. I wish this wasn't so, as I love everything else about this jacket! So sad!

I love the coat. Unfortunately it is too tight under the arm and across shoulders, hence I must return same. Why aren't the 1X and 2X's available? Seems those that I would replace it with only come in smaller sizes.
