I wear an 8.5 Medium in Asics. I have what is called a "low volume" foot (I can only wear sandals that adjust over the top of the foot, for example, although I cannot take a narrow). This shoe is too low volume for my feet! Never happened before, ever. I cannot even get my usual orthotic that I wear with all my closed-toed shoes in this thing. Even with their standard insole the shoe is slightly too small. It's a hair too short as well. Beyond that it's a strange design -- very flimsy on the top and very stiff on the outer sole. The mid sole offers decent cushioning. I have an average arch and feel no arch support nor that my feet are braced at all against pronation because there is hardly any top to the shoe other than the flimsy tongue. The structure of the shoe is provided by a wide plastic-y piece that wraps around the little toe. The whole Asics line is not cut as it was a few years ago when it had some shape over the instep. These are more like wearing the shoe boxes. Another annoying, industry-wide thing is that the top of all these shoes is cut so skimpy the laces barely cover the tongue. In my 4 year old Asics my laces completely closed the two sides together as a result of my small volume foot and the shoe having some actual shape to it. The wide open tongue makes the foot look really wide and squat. I suppose there are plenty of worse shoes out there. I would say order half a size larger than you normally wear in Asics, or a full size larger than street shoes. Hope this helps.

Great cushioning and flexibility. It is hard to find walking shoes that are mesh. Unfortunately, the mesh does not come down on the side of the shoe in the bunion area. The widest part of the foot where the bone is. Asics' description is synthetic overlay. Guess I need to break out the moleskin or tighten this left shoe down. Won't be ordering this style again.

I would recommend this shoe for anyone who needs arch support for the condition, plantar fasciitis... very comfortable shoe - I have a narrow foot and normally wear a AA size, but this shoe fits my foot very.

Fantastic cross-training shoe. Great for Zumba - any dance fitness - and for walking. Note: The mesh construction makes them warm-weather shoes. If you wear them in the winter, you feel the cold through the mesh.

Extremely comfortable shoe with lots of support and extra room in the toe box if you have bunions. My favorite walking shoe!

This is my second pair of these. Great support, very comfortable. I walk 3+ miles every day, sobI need good walking sneakers & I'm very pleased w/ these.

I've never liked Nikes and when my Adidas cross trainers kicked the bucket, I could not believe how poor the selections were. I don't like crazy bright sneakers at all and still think I deserve something comfortable for the price paid for good walking shoes. These Asics are fantastic - super comfy and they stay dry walking in the rain. I will say if you are walking in deep grass or mud, these aren't a good choice as the material on the top will soak up the water in those situations, but otherwise they are great for urban hikes through the city! I do use my own insoles but the ones that come in were pretty decent. And the price was right! Highly recommend.

Great sneaks.

I've been using these at least once and usually twice a day for over a month, generally on sidewalks but also on asphalt, grass and trails. They're GREAT! Excellent cushioning, stable and comfortable. I have a very high arch and narrow feet yet these have been the most comfortable walking shoes I've ever worn. And they are lighter than walking shoes I've tried. For the weight and cushioning I've used running shoes for years, and I now prefer these. Highly recommend. I'm not a black shoe fan but these are worth wearing black for.

I bought this shoe for a very active vacation wherein I walked 12-14K steps each day for 13 days. I've had problems with my feet in the past (plantar fasciitis) and needed good arch support. This shoe performed very well and I had no problems with my feet. I highly recommend this walking shoe.

I love these shoes! I have purchased this same shoe at least 5x because it is so comfortable. I'm a 58yo female and I walk 4-5 miles/day. In the wrong sneakers, I have arch trouble and/or knee trouble. None of that with these. My only qualification is that I have to buy a new pair every 5 months, because the toe of my right foot rubs a hole through the mesh! Given the amount of wear they get in that 5 months, I can't complain...but I have decided to try a different style next time to see if there's any difference. I bought a pair of Rykas last winter because of the hole issue, but 1)they didn't hold up well at all, and 2) I had arch pain pretty quickly. So I'm sticking with the Asics brand and trying a different shoe this time.

I have plantar fasciitis and these shoes feel great. I always wear these when I will be walking( vacation, zoo, shopping) and then my feet do not hurt at the end of three day

Just purchased my 5th pair of ASICS: GEL-Tech Walker Neo 4. I strayed for 2 months for a pair of Under Armor and they were horrible. I also tried New Balance and they were worse! So sorry ASICS I'm back and here to stay forever. Because I wear them everyday I replace them twice a year. As soon as I notice arch pain, hip pain & back pain I know it's time to replace so pay close attention to those signs. No I don't exercise or walk and no I don't go to the gym I wear them just to work everyday and weekends. The oldish age and aches & pains warrants that I wear these everyday you won't regret this choice. Also, the toe area is perfect with the mesh and plenty of room and no big toe pain ever. I LOVE these shoes.

I bought these shoes for work. I am a blackjack dealer and stand all day. These shoes did NOT work for that at all there was not enough cushioning..HOWEVER I have been using them for what they were designed for and that is walking and they are wonderful. Great stability , and they look really nice on my huge size 11 feet !

LOVE this shoe! I have long, narrow feet and long toes. The toe box was described as very roomy in a review I read and that works for me. Very comfortable with no insoles or supports, which has never happened before.

Love this shoe! It's a solid shoe... not in a bad way. I will now be an Asics fan for my walking shoes. I use this shoe to work out in as well. Looking at purchasing the white version of this. It's highly comfortable and solid.

Asics make the best walking shoes, period. I have high arches and these give great arch support, and were comfortable right out of the box. These aren't a fashiony walker, and I wouldn't want to wear them for sightseeing, but for my workouts and hiking, they're my go to shoes. I always order 1/2 size up in Asics and wear with cushiony socks.

Great fit and arch support. Love that Zappos has 11 1/2 in this shoe.

LOVE this shoe. I have to say it is probably the most comfortable walker I have worn in a long time. The fit is perfect for me, other Asics I have tried seem run on the slim side but this model, while it looks slim and attractive, is not tight. I am 73 years old and find so many shoes heavy but this one is lightweight but supportive and I like that the heel does not ride up and down. Two thumbs up.

I have been buying Asics shoes for years. They are the only shoes I will wear. I buy the walking shoes about 3 times a year and wear them daily. Only shoes that give me comfort and support.

I have had size 8.5 width D (believe this to mean 'wide')black ASICS gel walkers for years and need another pair. However, narrow and medium widths are the only choices. I hope Zappos will write to clarify or point me in the direction to order the size I need.

Love how comfortable these are! They're not the most stylish sneakers but I went for comfort and functionality rather than style. These are great for walking, gym, and just all around wear. Not great for any wet weather since water goes through the mesh really easily. I also find my big toe wearing through the mesh on the top but that's after wearing these all day long everyday for a while.

Just bought my fourth pair of these Asics! I have osteoarthritis in my big toe joints, and this is the only walking shoe I have found that doesn't have stitching over the toe joints. The mesh is breathable and very flexible, allowing me to walk 6-7 miles at a time without soreness. I have narrow feet, and the width is perfect for me. I use my own orthotics in them, but the one that comes with them has a lot of support.
