You only need this one bag and nothing else. So big and spacious and of course stylish

For the money I was expecting a tough duffel that would last...not the case, after two airline trips, both corner's on the tub was cracked and broken. I expect better North Face.

I travel a lot for work and for fun, and got this bag last year as a larger carry-on. I loved it for the entire time I had it, and could fit lots of things in it. At some point in August, the handle broke after 10 months. A screw came completely unthreaded, and the red cap to pull the handle up popped out of place. I sent it back to the North Face over a month ago and am waiting to see if they will replace it or what. This is not what I expected after less than a year, especially given the price tag.

I went from Tumi to this rolling bag based on recommendation from friends while in Ireland. I had it for a couple of months and while on a 3 week trip handle started to lose its bolts. It was 4 am. I was headed to Albuquerque from Mississippi on a 3 week trip . While rolling the bag along tile a tile floor the bottom shell split. It was 4am. Delta taped it up to get it on the plane. When arriving in Albuquerque I found a North Face store. The guys were very helpful but stated they couldn't exchange the bag due to policy. They sent it off and sold me a large duffel because I still had 2 weeks of travel. So I carried that Duffel for the next two weeks.
Thankfully, North Face awarded a gift card for the value of the bag. I reordered to give it another try since I found it worked out much better than a bulky suit case. I am taking this chance because I have hauled north face all over the planet some like my Surge II backpack for 10 years. So I have confidence in the gear and I hope this experience is one off. Ill repost with teh replacement.

I purchased this rolling luggage since I already own the the two larger sizes in this line, which have solid, red aluminum retractable handles and are very, very sturdy. I felt they were best in class, which is why I purchased this smaller bag in the same style. However the construction and quality of materials of the retractable handles on this model (22") are very flimsy and not suited to extended travel. They are difficult to open, prone to jamming, and likely to break. I was very disappointed and am considering returning the product. It's unclear why TNF changed such a terrific design.

It's almost such a nice bag and it looks so pretty. The handle placement is not an issue. The issue is that the corners opposing the wheels - THE CORNERS - which take 95% of the wear and tear as the bag bounces around on airplane and airport carousels and conveyors is fabric! EVERY OTHER DURABLE BAG FROM EVERY COMPETITOR HAS BUMPERS ON THE CORNERS FOR A REASON!! Such a big flaw! I took it on ONE flight and it was ripped when I got it back. I own 3 large duffels that I have taken on hundreds of flights and put through so much abuse and they are still going strong. North Face you can do better. So very disappointed. I'm in the midst of returning it right now. Owned for less than a month.

I bought this bag after having a great experience with the Rolling Thunder 30". I used to have to travel frequently for work and it held up really well. I had a zipper and a wheel break while I was on the road so I popped into a North Face store and they exchanged it on the spot. I was so impressed by their warranty and the way that they backed their product that I also purchased the Rolling Thunder 22". The material on the outside of the bag has fallen off in large areas but I've lived with it. Recently some stitching on the seam tape broke and have left parts of the bag exposed. I took it in to get repaired and the manager at TNF Portland store was extremely rude from the start. He made me feel bad for bringing the bag in for a warranty issue. I figured they wouldn't do anything about the material falling off but I thought they would at least fix the broken stitching and seam. The manager told me that the damage to the bag wasn't a warranty issue but he would send the bag in anyways. A few weeks later I get a letter in the mail telling me the damage wasn't covered under warranty and gave a number to call to make arrangements for sending my bag back. The lady I spoke to on the phone was again very rude (seems to be how customer service is at North Face). She told me they would mail the bag back or I could have 50% off an item. No thanks, I'll take my business elsewhere. I received the bag today and was very disappointed they didn't even fix the stitching. They no longer honor their warranty so I would not recommend buying this bag. If you're in the market for a bag I would think twice about about this unless you only use it a couple times a year. Check out Patagonia, their iron clad guarantee is solid and they stand behind their product.

On my first trip with this bag to Newark, the outer strap that compresses the bag tore. I expected a little more durable of a product for just south of $300.00. Better luck next time.

Spent big money on this bag - loved the look and the materials. Although was massively heavy when full. Didn't mind spending the money as expected it to last for years. Unfortunately after 3 International trips (and nothing to strenuous) the metal bracing went straight through the fabric. Un-repairable. Despite taking photos had to courier it back. Could't replace in the time before I was due to depart again - so got a full refund BUT was highly disappointed as I really like the brand. Would love to try again - maybe it was a one off..but reluctant in case happens again... have moved to Tatonka which doesn't look so good - but seems much stronger.

My first surf trip to Jefferies Bay the bag got a hole in hit and the plastic guard rails broke off. I bought a second bag hoping that wouldn't happen again but it did! Same type of damage. I'm a huge north face fan and I have tons of north face stuff. I'll I can figure is they are new to making bags like this.

I purchased this bag to take on a 6 month overseas trip and it cracked on the FIRST use. Now I have another large crack and the wheel broke off! BUYER BEWARE...should have bought Patagonia or Osprey

The base cracked at the corner after 1 use. I tired repairing it but because the crack is in the corner it's really hard to act and resew the seam.

After a few trips this bag looks like it's about to bust.. for the price point I'd defiantly go with something else

I returned this rolling duffle because it did not have a telescoping handle. I didn't look closely enough at the online description, but I think rolling bag needs a telescoping handle.

Big North face fan. I bought this a year ago and I really liked it when I took it with me on the plane. The one time where I checked the luggage, the plastic around the wheels broke completely.

The telescoping handle broke and would not retract. I ultimately threw the bag away because North Face was obstinate in replacing or even repairing the handle. Very disappointed.

Used for week long trips. The hard shell of cracked after first trip. Very poor quality material and North Face refuses to accept as a warranty claim. I'd advise against purchasing this product.

The Rolling Thunder 30 is my favorite travel rolling luggage I've ever had. Big enough to fit everything I need for a trip, while not being so big that I overpack and bust the airlines 50-pound weight limit. I love the hard plastic bottom and waterproof/water resistant top which kept all my things dry. My problem is that the bag literally came apart at the seams between the hard shell bottom, and the soft shell top. I've had the bag for about 3 years now so it's well past any warranty period, but I expected better quality for the price and limited duration. I have a competitor's bag that is also falling apart, but I've travelled with it for 20 years now. So now I'm in the market for a new bag, but I'm just not sure if I should purchase another Rolling Thunder (again, which I loved using) or if I should look elsewhere.

I have 3 of these bags and at first, very pleased with the quality and have traveled to numerous places with these bags. After a year, 1 of the 3 bags have cracks in the hard plastic-like corners, and the other one lasted about 4 years. I've never had problems with similar like quality bags. Disappointing that one only lasted about a year.

Product description states "It'll stand up to the roughest baggage handlers in the world." Second trip and product has a hole and other surface damage. Sent bag to North Face warranty for their review. Wear and tear not covered despite limited use of the product and their false claim about "standing up to the roughest baggage handlers in the world." United Airlines must be tougher than their toughest test handlers. Marketing should be changed. I sure wouldn't want this product strength or quality in any product someone depends on.

Unlike all the other Rolling Thunder bags, this one doesn't have a pullout handle so you can wheel it easily. And then instead of placing a regular handle in the middle of the bag to at least have something to use, it is inextricably placed on the side so you are always off balance when wheeling it. Super strange!
