Always wanted this jacket but couldn't justify the money. However, as I work outside everyday I eventually convinced myself. The first day I wore just a t-shirt and the jacket, we had rain, sleet and snow and I was warm and dry all day. My colleague had to wear 4 layers and not only was he cold all day, but he struggled with all the bulky layers under his harness, I was very comfortable.
I've always believed in a good layering system and this jacket isn't suitable as your only jacket for spring or autumn weather. But if you're willing to spend the money I don't think there is anything better to protect you from poor weather whilst being light enough to allow you to move and work freely.

I've now owned this jacket for about a month, it's the warmest most comfortable jacket I've ever worn bar none! Very light, ideal skiing jacket for cold weather.

I have used this coat for walking my dog in the cold & wet. I have health issues that prevent my body from keeping warm. This coat has been brilliant, expensive but worth the money.

Bought this jacket 3 years ago. Size M. It is very comfortable and warm. I used it to ski in temps -10oC or 14oF. It kept me warm. Has good system to allow moisture removal. Also very nice for just casual use in the winter. Would definitely recommend.

Standing on the waterfront in Delta, BC Canada, heavy rain and high winds warm and toasty in this fantastic jacket.
Could not recommend this jacket more. Absolutely perfect.

Put the jacket on this morning , -18 degree Celsius with -22 km hour winds -28. While biking I was warm and couldn't even feel the wind. The Macai passed the Alberta test!!!
Love it .

Got this as a warm coat for cold winter days. Ordered from the online store; received promptly and in good order. It's XL size so fit is roomy but good if wearing a mid layer like a sweater . My sleeve length is 35" so sleeves are a bit long but I can live with it. L would probably have been too small.

This jacket is a complete luxury for the outdoor recreator, or simply someone who is living in a very cold environment. I hate to layer clothing, the Macai allows me to wear only a jacket for temperatures down to 15. While this is an expensive purchase it is worth every penny, by far the best jacket I've ever worn. I use it for all my walking, hikes, and skiing. I am constantly outside, and this is the best piece of outdoor clothing I own regardless of the season. Just incredible to have such a warm, well insulated, jacket that is also rain resistant and waterproof, INCREDIBLE! I have been in some very bad weather, and this jacket performs exceptionally well. I love this jacket so much and confident it will last for years based on the quality of the manufacturer and how it has already stood up. Difficult to spend so much money on a jacket but if you are an outdoorsman don't think twice as this is a true investment that pays back dividends..

was a little concerned after reading some reviews about fit and durability. I'm 5'11 around 200. Fairly athletic build and fit really well. Prob not a ton of room for layering but that was the point of buying an insulated jacket so I didn't have too. Sleeves were the appropriate length and the waist was fairly snug. As a heavier guy bigger sizes tend to be bigger in the waist so you end up looking like a bell but that wasn't the case. The fabric appeared thick enough and no issues so far. One thing I would say and not that it was an issue but the timelapse color was more of a sea green or teal vs as blue as it looked in the pics. Not an issue but worth noting it has more of a blue green color.

Purchased for a week snowboard trip to Stowe, VT. Bullet proof snow and cold armor. Everyday while snowboarding saw temps from 0 to - 30 F and never once did I feel cold or did the snow become an issue permeating the jacket.

The most luxurious winter jacket I've ever seen, much less put on. Super soft exterior and the interior is to die for. Love the classy look. Since it's not even close to being cold enough to evaluate it's potential here in Tennessee right now, I may have to go over to a friends restaurant and spend a couple hours in his walk-in freezer. 99.9% chance I'm gonna love it.
A shout out to my friend Miles and the rest of the Customer Service Team for helping me with a couple problems earlier this Spring. A company is only as good as the people it has working for it, and great products must have a support staff that keep the customers coming back. Job very well done, Miles.
Have been a loyal customer for 13 years now. VERY impressed with the new Timelapse-MACAI, and the Company.

Bought this last year and enjoy it very much. Cut nicely around the shoulders...could use a bit more space around the chin and neck area for us bigger guys...overall great coat.

A few things stand out to me about this jacket - soft Gore-Tex, which is great, given that my basic use for this is skiing or wearing around town. The warmth of this jacket is real, and it's not as bulky as I had expected. To some degree this is less bulk than the conventional set of layers I wear. Collar is nice and retains warmth and soft. The sleeves are oddly long, but that is my only bit of feedback.

Got this jacket in the spring of 2020. Just started to wear it this past winter. Most days all that is needed is this jacket and a single layer underneath. Temps where I'm at range from 20F to mid 40F in winter. But lots of public transportation. So outside for most of the day. As for the fit. The arms are a little bit longer but it's a ski jacket. It's made for maximum arm movement. After realizing that it makes sense to me. And it makes for a better day to day wear also. Most jackets I've had in the past. To include military uniform winter jackets. All have had noticeable arm restrictive motion. This one doesn't. So it's different but in a good way after you realize it's intended use.

I wore an arcteryx shell overtop a bunch of layers for a long time. It worked great but it was heavy. After 12 years it was time to retire the shell. I found this jacket and loved the idea of not wear so many layers. I wore this jacket for a few days in Park City with only a t shirt underneath. It preformed flawlessly. Extremely comfortable and warm. If it starts to get too warm you can quickly undo the pit zips or just do the main zipper down to get some more airflow. I highly recommend this jacket.

I bought this jacket mainly because it is rated as one of the warmest ski specific jackets available and it has not disappointed. I have skied in -15c (-18c wind chill) and walked the dog in -18c (-28 wind chill) and it kept me comfortably warm at all times.
It has great features for skiing:
The shell fabric is tougher than expected and has not torn or marked up against tree branches. It is also very windproof including the front zipper even at high speeds.
The fit is excellent. I am 5'10 and 175lb and medium is perfect with plenty of room for a mid-layer underneath. The sleeves aren't as long as expected based on other reviews and they fit perfectly over gloves or under gauntlet mittens to provide a good seal. The length of the jacket is a bit longer than my previous coat and perfect as it keeps your back covered when bending over to adjust boots etc.
The pockets are all good and practical. The small breast pocket that has been mentioned in other posts as impractical holds both a ski key lock and car key fob together. The only improvement I would recommend is a larger zip pull on the internal breast pocket as it is a bit finicky even with gloves off. The pocket itself is plenty big for a medium sized phone and energy bar so will likely hold a large phone with no problem. The large hand pockets are plenty big and deep enough that you wont easily lose something even if you leave one unzippped.
The powder skirt is easy to fasten and unfasten and stays in place.
The hood works very well when skiing with a helmet. It is easy to pull up and down with mittens on and provides enough lateral vision to easily shoulder check when crossing a trail.
The pit zips are also easy to work with mittens. The only cold spot I have felt was in the arm area of the pit zip when only wearing a baselayer and vest on the coldest day which was fixed when I switched to a sweater mid-layer.
All in all I am very happy with this jacket and expect to get many years of warm, comfortable skiing in it.

I am very pleased with my Macai jacket, it literally covered every single base when it comes to what I look for in a jacket, gortex and ultimate durability against Mother Nature, down to stay warm, large good to go over a helmet, pit vents with mesh, large opening cuffs to go over large mitts, even a small goggle wipe in the pocket, Arcteryx literally thought of everything and I couldn't be happier. Another quality product from my favorite outdoor company
