First of all the hibiscus red is is an orange-red. If neon red was a color this would be it. I like bright colors so it doesn't bother me too much, but I was expecting a more apple or Christmas red shade as shown in the pictures and video. I bought it for use as an every day winter coat hoping it would be nice for the single digits and negative temperatures. This jacket keeps you warm only if you are moving. As a tour guide this is a fantastic winter jacket! I am comfortable while outside for a few hours (not too hot or cold). I wear it inside at work a lot because it's very cozy. I never get too warm in it when sitting at a desk. If you are looking for a coat to keep you warm while standing outside for long periods of time (such as during a football game) with temperatures below 25 degrees I do not recommend this jacket. I haven't tried it skiing but I imagine it would be excellent since it is great at keeping in body heat when active. The jacket is a lot lighter and more flexible than any other similar coat I've owned before. I am typically between sizes L and XL. I ordered XL and I love it! There's just enough room to wear a sweater or a thin sweatshirt with it but I don't ever need to. This jacket has made me a fan of the Omni-Heat reflective.

I live in Minnesota and walk my dog in any weather, even below 0, so I've been looking for a new coat for quite some time. First I ordered a North Face thermoball parka, and it wasn't warm at all so I returned it. This coat is a much better value, is super warm, is sporty, stylish and comfortable. I love it and wear it all the time - I'm so much more excited about winter with this great new coat. Thanks Columbia for making a great winter coat that doesn't use down!

I would definitely recommend this jacket for it's comfort, durability, and warmth. I spend a lot of time hiking the mountains here in the Northeast and just tested this out on a snowshoeing trip last weekend, when temps were 10-20 degrees. It was great. It was comfortable to backpack in, and kept me extremely warm on the peaks. It fits to size, and I appreciate all of the waterproof pocket space it has for my equipment.

I usually wear a medium but ordered a large since it said it runs a little small. I had to adjust the toggles to tighten around the bottom of the coat and it fit wonderfully. Rain just beads off the thing. I have to shake my coat off before getting in the car to keep the seats dry. I was warm in 20 degree weather. love the Omni heat and the cuffs that keep wind from blowing up your sleeves. Also placement of the hood keeps wind from blowing down your neck/back. well worth the money. great investment!

I live in northern Wisconsin and purchased this jacket towards the end of October. It has been unseasonably cold here and this jacket has kept me toasty through all of November. This jacket also has plenty of pockets!

This is by far the best winter coat I have owned. The coat provides enough warmth for Wisconsin winters but doesn't feel bulky. The light weight makes it comfortable enough to wear during normal activities such as shopping and driving. It also doesn't seem to make me overheat indoors like most do. The material inside of the jacket makes slipping it on and off very easy, even when bulky items are worn underneath. The feminine cut makes it cute rather than giving the marshmallow man effect. I am 5.5/5.6", 170 lbs and the Large fit perfectly. The only warning I have is that the black is actually more of a charcoal (which I think is much cuter than the black!)

I bought this coat to keep me warm in central Minnesota weather (that's -65 below windchill and such). I will normally wear it for twenty minute outdoor walks between college classes, but I also spend a good chunk of my time cross-country skiing and horseback riding during the winter.
I'm 5'9 and 125 pounds and bought a medium so I would have room for layers, and it fits great.
I haven't had a chance to try it out in that type of weather, but I did wear it on a windy, 30 degree, 6 hour horse ride and it was way too warm, so I think its going to work fine. It definitely stopped the wind and held in heat, which was my biggest concerns. Also, it is VERY water repellent. I dunked an elbow into a river to see if the water would soak in and it rolled right off.
There are also pockets everywhere, which is excellent for a long outdoor trip. Also, the cuffs have thumb holes in them, which is great when you are busy working with your hands and don't want your sleeves sliding up.
I bought this coat in black and it is not as dark as the online picture suggests. But the pattern is very nice and I think the color works well.
Overall I love this coat, and I think it is an actual 'true' winter coat.

I bought this coat in black. The only complaint I have is it's not as dark as in the picture. Other than that I love it! I bought a medium so I could layer clothes under and it's roomy. Standing in my house trying it on I was already getting overheated from it! Very nice coat I would recommend it.

The coat is very nice quality and it is very warm. It is simple yet warm and effective. It has basically all the features I wanted in my replacement coat except one, the zipper. I spent tons of time trying to find my perfect replacement coat but I couldn't find a warm one like this with a double zipper. The coat isn't convenient to sit down in which is one of the only draw backs to this coat. The other problem I have run into is with the built in arm warmers. They are kind of a nice function but I do feel they get in the way sometimes also they definitely are not long enough and shorten my reach with them on. I have fairly long arms but they are not crazy long, the rest of the coat with my hands not in the thumb holes works just fine.

The coat is warm without being too bulky, which is what I was looking for. I really like the coat, except for the snug cuffs with thumb holes. For me, it makes getting it on and off quickly near impossible. I'm sure it has its uses, but for someone with shorter arms, it's not convenient. Otherwise the jacket is great against the wind and cold.

I work in a school and as true Oregonians we are usually outside no matter the weather. I know this coat will keep me warm next winter, and that it will be light enough that I can move quickly when I need to. Columbia is a great company and I am always happy with the products. This is my first new coat in two years. My old one is still in good shape, so I know this one will hold up for a long time.

I am 5'3 and 120 lbs. I purchased a Medium based on previous Columbia jackets. I ended up returning it and purchasing a Large because it was too tight in the lats and arms. The medium had plenty of room in the torso and the large had way too much room in the torso. I am keeping it because it's a great value. Hopefully it will be warm enough for Minnesota winters!

The pros: great color, the length is perfect for me. I am 5'2"
The cons: the arms are snug. Wearing a sweater is difficult, the shoulder however run big. The jacket is baggy to the top.

Got this as the weather started to warm up, but was able to test it a couple of days when the weather turned and we got some heavy wind. It blocks the wind very well. Wish there was more insulation in sleeves, rather then the stretchy material with the hand warmer slashes

I love everything about this jacket except the sleeves are a little tight. I hhave the XL and every where else is good except there. It is very warm, light and waterproof. I wanted something for my walking in cold to very cold weather but something that would breathe as as I heated up and that I could layer underneath. I really do t need to put on as many layers with this coat which I love.

Lightweight yet warm with thin layer of clothing under. Exactly what i was looking for, nice length too. Not bulky at all! One con is the collar sticks up on the sides of your face. Would be nice if the collar could lay flat or Velcro down for driving, annoying!

I love everything about this jacket! Keeps me nice and warm in the Wisconsin winter. I'm 5'5 150lbs and ordered a large. Fits nice and can comfortably wear a sweatshirt underneath.

Love the omni-tech, keeps me nice and warm on a cold day. Runs a little on the short side, I sized up!

There are so many things that I love about this coat! I love the color, the extra secret zipper pocket on the inside, the pocket for goggles (or facemask, hats, gloves or whatever...), and the extra long sleeve with thumb holes. The only problem with the thumb holes for me is that they are a little short (even the next size up) when I am really reaching to grab something. My arms might be slightly longer than average, but I've never had the issue with thumb holes in other clothing.
I followed the sizing guidelines and based off of that I ordered a medium sized coat. When it came in the mail it was too big everywhere (except the thumb holes) and I was swimming in it. I mailed it back and got the small size instead. The small was definitely a better fit for me and I'm happy with it now.
One other thing that I've noticed about the coat is that the side pockets allow my phone or other heavy things to fall out when I move around. It would be helpful if there was just a little more fabric at the bottom where the zipper attaches to prevent this.
Overall though I love the coat!! It is really well made and keeps me nice and warm on the mountain (I always wear layers too). I would buy it again and recommend it to my friends and family!

First, I bought a medium, because my size is 8. it was good but I can not close the zipper completely, I could not it in the area of my neck. I changed it for large. now I can close the zipper completely but it is a little loose.

I have several Columbia jackets, all in size L. I ordered a L in this jacket, but it was too small across the chest :- ( I had to return it, and wasn't able to find it in an XL. This was disappointing, since it would have been perfect for the trip we had planned. Great jacket, though.

Great color! Comfortable jacket except for the neckline. It is a tight zip when the hood is still attached. A little stiff and a little high. Returning the Small because it is too tight around the neck when fully zipped up and seemed a little tight under the arms.

Great ski coat. Not too bulky but keeps you warm. Arms were a little snug so I went up a size.

I was looking for a jacket to replace a very old but super warm down jacket. I thought the Omni Heat technology would compensate for the lack of down, and it probably does if one is engaged in an activity that generates a lot of body heat such as skiing (which I realize is the intended use of the jacket). However, I got it for taking my dog out and other brief errands and I find it IS NOT as warm as the down in those incidences. But I DO like the jacket. It has a flattering fit, not too bulky, but there IS room for a sweater underneath. (I wear 10-12 and bought a large.) I like the way the hood fits without obstructing peripheral vision. As someone else mentioned, the fabric is NOT slick nylon, so it does attract dog hair a bit, but not too bad and easy to brush off!
BTW, someone else mentioned it has no Omni Heat in the sleeves. That is INCORRECT. Omni Heat in sleeves and top 2/3 of jacket (not on snow skirt).
