Many years ago, I had a pair of 939's that I loved. I wore them day in and day out, while working outdoors, for years. After the initial break in, they were incredibly comfortable, and held up very well. I eventually tossed them when the soles finally wore thin after probably 4-5 years of use. I've read that Dr Martens are now made in Asia and not in England, and that they aren't the same quality they used to be. So far this new pair, made in Vietnam, seems to have the same familiar construction, but only time will tell. I usually wear a 10.5 or sometimes an 11, so I ordered these in a size UK10/US11. When I tried them on, they were loose in the foot and ankle, and had a lot of extra room in the toe area. I exchanged for a size UK9/US10 and got a much better fit. The new size was tight initially, especially across where the bottom of the tongue meets the toe of the boot, but after only a couple of days wear, they had stretched to be comfortable.

When I got my boots I was upset and disappointed. It turns out the boots were brittle and seemly dried out and I assume it was due to transit, I am working in Afghanistan. I treated them with the balsam and left them by the heater and they softened up very nicely. They are very comfortable and look good, I have narrow feet so they are a little wide. If I could delete my previous review I would.

My father is a carpenter/contractor, my husband does finish masonry, brick and stone. My good old work boots just plum wore out. The entire soles came off in pieces. I needed a new pair and quick. I work hard and felt like I wanted a nice pair that would serve me well or some time. These are just about what I had pictured in my mind. Docs are cool, they took maybe a day to wear in, they are slip resistant, they keep my feet warmer then expected, I live in Minnesota. I enjoy wearing them.

These are great work boots! They are not to clunky, and my feet felt good all day. They are a little big for me no 1/2 sizes available. The leather does need to wear in a little, it is stiff. The sole is really grippy which will be good for when it snows.

Literally my favorite Dr. Martens. So comfy. Soft leather. Very relaxed fit and feel.

I've been wearing these boots for over 14 years. I'm in them from 7am to usually about 11pm, on concrete. They are the only shoes I've found that my feet do not hurt! I water proof them as soon as I get them. They usually last me about 7 to 8 months, I'm a little rough on them. When they are worn out for work wear, I wear them for knocking around in the woods.

Comfort wise, they're fine, but the collar is just a little too padded. It digs into my ankles a little more than I'd prefer.
The big problem (and it is probably just that I got a bad pair) is that the sole on the right shoe is already separating after less than a month. I'm hoping a little contact cement will hold it together long enough to get my money's worth out of them.

I was very disappointed when I received these boots. I read bad reviews on other sites but my experiences with Zappos have alwys been great so I took a chance. After I put an insert into the boot it was super comfortable. My issue with my purchase is that the color looks painted on making the boot look extremely cheesy. I have another pair of Greasy Black 1460's on the way and I pray I do not go through this again or I will definately be returning them. This is the worst experience I have ever had with Zappos.
