Great style, perfect until the strap tore from the bag only 2 days after receiving the item! What a disappointment, I expect more from Filson! Had to return.

Exceptional build quality with a classic look.
Bought this bag for everyday use and work. I work in a corporate environment and I wear suits often.
I currently use a large Saddleback Thin Briefcase from 10 years ago. Still in great shape, but the Filson will be replacing it as my go to. I like the feel and look of the Filson better, and dropping 2-3 pounds is a definite plus.
My corporate office requires business professional attire, and the only color I'd recommend for business attire is the black. The navy comes in second, but not sure if it'd be acceptable with a suit. Nonetheless, I think the black is the most versatile of the colors. The green and tan are great for business casual environments or students.
Fits a Macbook Pro 15 inch in the main compartment, however, it will fit in the sides after you break it in a bit. Holds my lunch, water bottle, 4 notebooks 8.5x11, binder, and a small notebook just fine.
Comes VERY stiff out of the box. Before cramming my laptop into the sleeve, I am putting notebooks there to stretch it out a bit in order to make it fit my laptop better.

I wanted something simple and unflashy to take to campus everyday that also had a more professional tone to it. (I'm an MFA writing student.) This fits the bill perfectly. The canvas and leather are pretty stiff at first but after a few weeks of use it's breaking in pretty nicely. I can't wait to see what it'll be like in a year.
If you need to carry a lot of stuff, you might want to check out their other options, but the interior is surprisingly roomy. I've shoved way more stuff in there than I thought I could--vertically and horizontally.
Also a plus: it's water resistant. Unles you get caught in a huge downpour, your items are going to be safe.
I know some of the reviews have stated that the strap broke pretty early early in the life of the bag, but I never use it. It's probably worth noting though that it's made in the USA of imported materials, with all the attendant implications. (I think it's a very well-made briefcase, and tons of companies do this.)

Have been using the bag for six months now and the material is just beginning to wear in and feel great. I expect it's only going to look and feel better a few years down the line. Not much space inside if you carry a lot, but perfect for folks like me who carry a laptop, some books and paperwork, lunch and a water bottle. Perfect bag for the minimalist who isn't impressed with a dozen pouches and useless small compartments all over their bag, but is impressed with craftsmanship and attention to quality.

Went back and forth deciding if spending this much money on a bag would be the right thing. I ended up going for it and I'm glad I did. You can feel, see and smell the quality of Filson in this bag. The cotton material is heavy and durable. The leather straps and handles were surprisingly soft right out the box. The stitching and brass zippers are legit. I can see this thing lasting forever. I got the tan color bag and I can't wait for it to break in and patina. I'm using this as a daily bag carrying my 15 inch laptop, notebook, file folder of papers, pens, sunglasses in a case, mini speaker, charger, Swiss Army knife, keys, handkerchief and a protein bar - to give you an example of what this bag can handle. It can definitely carry a lot for it size and still look slim.

Purchased this bag for my husband for Christmas. As an academic, he didn't want a formal, leather briefcase, and wanted something that would hang comfortable on his shoulder. He loves this bag. It seems very sturdy and looks like it will wear extremely well. Holds a ton -- he doesn't carry a laptop, but I suspect a 15" in a sleeve would fit easily. Very handsome and upscale-looking, if that's important to you. Highly recommend.
