I have used this bag for hiking and as a carry-on for the plane. It’s perfect for both!

Love this backpack. One of the issues I was hoping to solve was one of safety. I travel a lot internationally and wanted a backpack that served the same purpose as a thief-proof purse, but bigger. I knew that a drawstring top with on over the top fastened flap was what would work against pickpockets, and I really hoped I could find a back pack that was not too large for my 5'3" frame that looked durable, was water proof and attractive. I looked for a year, nothing fit all of my needs, especially since I hesitated spending over $100. I am so glad I bit the financial bullet and bought this one. PERFECT! It will last a lifetime. If you don't like taking the trouble to open the drawstring top , neither will someone trying to get into it that is not you. I am grateful for all of the well thought-out, tough and beautifully made details in this perfect backpack for travel and general use.

GREAT rucksack style backpack! The material is water-resistent and super durable. This backpack is versatile: great for hikes, commuting, or exploring a new urban city. The small size was a bit too small for me (I'm a woman, 5'7", ~140 lbs), so I exchanged that one for a medium, which I think is the best size. Not too large, but also fits my 15" Macbook Pro. I love the dark olive color and the nice leather straps. The side pockets are super useful and the back straps have great shoulder padding. I highly recommend this backpack!

Sweetest backpack ever. Medium was smaller than I thought, but works out for a broad-shouldered male human just fine, fits under airplane seat, etc. Remarkable manufacturing, cool safety pockets and even a lil doodah for my shades case, yippee. Those Herschel ones are imitations; this is the real deal.

Ordered this backpack for travel and school use. It's perfect for both. Carries books and laptop with easy. And when it's all packed up with supplies for camping, it still feels light and is comfortable. Love this backpack!

Most comfortable backpack. I'm sad that I waited so long to get this. It literally makes everything I carry so light. I had a horrible backpack for 2 years and it constantly felt too heavy and dug into my shoulders. This bag is nice and fits a surprising amount. My 15" laptop fits super snug in it. High quality material. Should last a long time. I use this everyday on my commute and I will definitely be bringing it with me on all of my travel.

Totally in love with this bag. I'm very petite (4'10) and wanted a backpack I could use for commuting in Boston without being confused for a high school or college student. This bag is really well made, lightweight but still big enough to carry all my daily essentials (13 inch MacBook, notebook/journal, winter hat + gloves, etc.). My concern before purchase was that I'd miss having side zipper pockets for easy/quick access to things like my wallet, which I had with my Osprey bag. However, the front pocket is really easy to access for those items you don't want to have to open up the larger compartment for, and the two side pockets are big enough to fit a standard umbrella and a 1 liter water bottle. The front pockets are covered by the top of the bag when everything is closed up too, so you don't have to worry about anything falling out if you do keep your wallet or other valuable items in there. The only negative I've found so far is that the inside zipper pocket that's attached at the top tends to get in the way when you're rummaging through the main compartment. Other than that this bag is really great and a really nice option for the working woman who wants something classy but still functional for the daily commute.

Wonderful backpack. It took a little getting used to for me -- I wasn't accustomed to using a drawstring and buckles (had a zip close backpack before). But I broke it in and am loving it. Highly recommend. Good capacity, good looks.

A fantastic backpack. Recommend it highly. I am 5.9 and the medium backpack fits on my back perfectly.

This might be the best material gift I've ever received. First, the bag has several compartments that make it functional, which is a quality any bag should have. The laptop compartment is very hand and makes the bag great for the office. Second, the stiffly-padded back section is comfortable and provides a nice buffer if any awkwardly shaped items are in the bag. This prevents any lopsidedness against one's back. Lastly, and most importantly, this is the best looking backpack I've seen that works for the office. I'm an attorney and I like the idea of a bag for the office that has a good capacity that also doesn't scream seriousness and self-importance.

High-quality, durable, stylish and versatile backpack. It will last for years with little to no maintenance. The material is waterproof. Great as for work stuff or a day pack for hiking/the beach, the bag gets compliments wherever it goes. I love it.

I loved the design of this bag but once full, it tipped forward. Also, its not very big on the inside compared to other backpacks I have that are the same dimensions. It is a shame as the construction and layout is nice....so sadly, this will be going back.

It is too small but I feel the large version will be too big. It just is not very functional, either. The outside pockets are too small and the inside water bottle pocket is way too hard to access. Additionally the pen pocket is poorly placed and also smaller than my needs. On the plus side it looks good, materials feel premium, and feels extremely durable. I ended up getting a Herschel Little America but I would love to have a Fjällräven if they come out with a more functional pack for my needs.
