The styles of Birkenstock sandals are beautiful but the straps are so stiff on these I had to return them. The only ones I can use are the suede/Nubuck.

I've worn Birkenstocks for many years. I have had three pair of Milano sandals with the soft footbed in the black Amalfi leather. Super comfortable. Also had a pair of oiled leather Milano sandals. This is my first pair of the brown Amalfi leather, and my first review. The brown leather on the pair I received is much stiffer and so far too uncomfortable to wear, so much I may give up breaking them in, and give them away, as I can't return them now that they are worn. No fault of Zappos, but I would be hesitant to recommend the brown Amalfi leather.

These ran narrow (I have a wide foot and regular width Birks have always worked for me….both regular footbed and soft footbed) . I don’t know if sizing up to 41 would make a difference or trying the traditional footbed in this size but they are a good 1/4 to 1/2 narrower and just a tad too short than my size 40 Arizona Regular width (soft footbed) Really bummed because I like the color and style but going to have to return them.

Worst shoes I've ever worn. Leather is stiff and even after three wearings I get blisters. Footbed is very hard. The only thing good about these shoes is the excellent arch support. I hate them and they're going in the thrift shop bag.

Ok, I am totally confused. I have been wearing Birkenstock Milanos for about 12 to 15 years. I walk between 20 and 40 miles per week and never had a problem other than the souls wearing out. But that is about 120miles a summer. I just read https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10670191/birkenstocks-as-walking-shoes/p2 that they are not good walking sandals. Also, they can be hard t find. I. have plantar fasciitis, wide feet at the top and a narrow heel. Not the average delicat size 7 foot. I looked up the best walking sandals and no mention of Milanos but Airozna was always in the top 3 to 5. My question is, how do you walk y miles without a backs strap as many companies and airzona advertise. I was looking for something a little more femine for walking but not the thick nylon hiking ones that were in a different colour than the always brow Milanos. saw lots of nice one, a beautiful blue one but again, can anyone tell me how without a back strap. Birkenstock appears to be modernizing all their styles but Milano. I get there is only so much you can do But a few different colours or something. I will probably end up buying the standard milanos but I will keep looking. Plus many nice styles I saw including Birkentock were all American. The MILANOS ARE FANTASTIC in my eyes, don't get me wrong. So if anyone can answer my above questions or where in Canada I can get a high quality leather walking sandal please let me know. I may even get both the Milano and another with equal quality but a little more modern. I do give the Milano extremely high marks though. 120 miles in a summer.

I have worn Birkenstocks for many years but not for some time. Other B. styles don't work as well for me. The Milano offers plenty of support for walking or standing. The Amalfi leather is worth the extra $10. because of the higher quality which is more supple than oiled leather and dyed all the way through. The soft (somewhat) footbed is nice too. These shoes felt comfortable almost immediately.

Classic quality Birki's. For those with little arch support: know that you have to break these in and they tend to be very uncomfortable for the first few wears but then are quite comfortable as your feet adjust to it.

These shoes are wonderful! Don't let the stiffness put you off, they get softer in a few wearings. Great style, thankfully Birks are back, great wear, great comfort. I especially like the rear strap that goes around your heel, tight enough to keep the shoe on, but loose enough to Only be there if necessary! Go ahead buy them, even though you have 3 other pair of Birkenstocks in the closet...they will never wear out. Love, love Zappos!

I have hallux limitus on my right foot / big toe so these are really amazing. Live in Seattle so wore them barefoot at the end of summer, and now with socks. Socks and sandals are big out here. The only issue was with the back strap. It pushed my foot too far forward so I confess that I punched an extra hole in the strap. They also take a bit to break in as the leather is so stiff. Once to try them on, you are kind of committed to keep them as they leather straps immediately start to break in. Overall, really love these.

Straps cut into my ankle and instep and could be longer. I’ve decided to wear socks during the break in period.

I have wide, flat feet. Wearing these make me feel like a hobbit, and I love it. There's something so nice and earthy about the buckles and leather. This is my first pair of Birks and I am happy to report that they are very comfortable, even right out of the box. I thought I'd have to break them in before they were comfortable, but with the right size on my foot, I am enjoying them already. I keep the back strap very loose so that I can easily slip them on and off without buckling them each time. I like that I will have the option, however, to tighten them if I wish to wear them to a theme park with roller coasters or something. :)

I have wanted a pair of Milano's for a long time, as I really liked the idea of the strap across the back, however, I found that I just didn't like the stiffness of the leather. I wish they came in suede. Alas. I sent them back and ordered the suede Arizona soft footbed in Mink and all is well.

Too stiff. Sole is comfy and I could probably do fine with socks, but I want to be able to go barefoot also. Birkenstock needs to get back to soft leathers.I have a pair of Bostons that I can't wear either...Unfortunately I didn't get my Bostons on Zappos - lesson learned :-( Zappos rocks!
I'd also recommend:
Birkenstock has no match - they just need to use softer leather like they used to.

Too big on me and the leather was rubbing on the side of my feet making my feet have a huge red blister. I had to put socks on. I wish I could enjoy them like others do. ;(

I like these sandals. Unfortunately, they are just 2 months old and have fallen completely apart! The sole detached at both heels. (And its not like I've been going anywhere in the middle of a pandemic, so its not from over-use.) I would like a refund or replacement, to be honest.

I purchased these a year ago and they rarely get any wear (look like new) unlike Birkenstocks of the past which got worn all the time. The reason these don't get worn is the extremely stiff leather that refuses to soften with time. In over 30 years, I never had blisters from Birkenstocks and this is a first. The leather is like wood and as forgiving for your feet. I have tried 2 other styles this year and the leather is horrible. They will be sent back. What happened to the most comfortable shoe on earth?

Back in the 60s I loved my Birks. Now I've tried so many different Birks and still not a comfortable fit. My problem with this one is the upper leather is very stiff and hard to buckle. The ankle strap makes it a pain to take the shoes off. I thought I could live with these shortcomings, but I'm just not happy with them.

After doing gymnastics to get all the buckles buckled so they fit, I discovered that I had hobbit feet except there was no magic cloaking ring included in the box for me to wear so I could hide. Who knew I had such ugly toes? Well, now every time I see these sandals on someone else, I'm reminded that pretty much everyone has ugly toes. ; 0 As for the supposed support, it was completely non existent. I'm not into buying comfort sandals I have to "work" to break in. My actual cork floors have more give than these sandals ever will have. Also, the leather was stinky, like super funky funk, and one sandal also had dark striations on the side. Since you wear them on your feet no one would have noticed the marks or the funk, but still, ugh.

The man made top is not leather but some sort of synthetic that cuts into the foot with no hope of softening up. This makes the shoes unwearable. Returned them. Would have given zero stars but that was not an option.

If I had to guess, I'd say I have bought 20 or more pair of Milano Birkies over the years. Until this pair, they have been the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I can't wear this pair. They don't fit, even though they are exactly the same size as all the others. The leather is stiff and cuts into my feet. They are not just uncomfortable - they are painful. I hate to give up my Birkies, but if this is what they've come to, I have to find something else. I'm sending these back to Zappo's.

The sole was exactly my size, but my foot would not fit under the buckle straps, even when they were at their widest, most open adjustment. In fact, there is a severe design flaw, in that the holes are cut totally wrong. I pretty much have an average sized foot, but could not get my toes under the front strap even when it was adjusted to maximum clearance, and the other strap also could no be opened sufficiently to allow my foot in. (Try tightening them to the last hole! The clearance would be a fraction of an inch. Who would need that adjustment?. Infants? What were they thinking?)

I purchased the Birkenstock Milano knowing the reputation that these sandals have for comfort and quality. I had recently visited a friend who has had the same pair of Birks for many years and they were still in good shape, so I decided to go ahead and try them out. Initially, I was impressed with how comfortable they were after I broke them in. Two months later, after medium use, they have started to wear out and fall apart. For a product that is relatively expensive, they sure are made cheaply. There has obviously been a degradation in quality over the years, and I would never recommend these sandals to anyone. Go buy a pair of $20 knock-offs, they will probably be better than this garbage. Extremely disappointed, you will be too. Unless your obsessed with the brand name, you'd be a fool to pay this much for this junk.

Love love love … I have high arches and when I travel I love to have a comfortable sandal to be able to wear out but also when it’s cold and I’m lazy to throw on with some socks and handle some errands these are perfect. Great arch support, super comfortable, adjust the straps to your liking and very stylish!
