Width- True to Fit? I wasn't sure which would fit better so I had Zappos ship me the Hi-Tec Altitude V I WP in size 9.5, width M as well as a Hi-Tec Altitude IV in size 9.5, width EE-Wide. I found that the Altitude IV's mid foot of the EE-Wide was actually more cramped in the mid-foot (sidefoot near arch area) than in the Medium width of this Altitude V I WP. The arch on the Altitude V I was also lower then the Altitude IV's I tried. Lower is better for me. Like others have said, both are a bit stiff out of the box. Most notably in the ankle support area. I suspect they'll loosen up after a few miles.

These are very handsome and can be worn with office apparel.

So far, so good. I run a pressure washing company that specializes in new construction. I am hard on my boots! Usually, the waterproof feature gives out after several months so time will tell with these. They fit good (not great) and are comfortable.

I love the shoes I got for a gift. I was looking for these shoes for some time with no success. My wife found them & I am very pleased with them! They fit perfectly & are true to size. We will be purchasing more!

Fits as well as my first pair, purchased in 1998. Liked em so well that When they wore out I replaced them in 2012 with that year’s version of the same boot. Now that I’ve worn them out it was time for another pair. I’ve always liked the fact that these boots fit great right out of the box with no need for breaking in. These are great boots for the money.

Wow! These guys fit great from day 1! Wore them at work to break them in but almost felt like I didn't have to. Heard many stories that these were easy to break in, but didn't believe it. Boy was I wrong...

My husband loves these! He is a 10.5 wide and these fit perfectly. Normally he has to go up a size to make the width fit. No need with these.

Bought these for my husband. He wears 9.5 but I ordered him a 10 & 10.5 to try. The 10.5 fit. He is happy and plans to wear them soon. Michigan winters can be very tricky with snow one day and rain the next. The sole looks great for slippery conditions. These will be great for hiking too!

Purchased these as a gift for my husband. He states they feel very comfortable and keep his feet warm and dry.

A fantastic buy. Wanted some hiking boots for a trip to Alaska and these were a great choice. I thought they'd take some breaking in but they were comfortable from step 1. We hiked a number of steep inclines and they made for stable and comfortable impact. Best buy I've made in a while.

After reading reviews I chose these. They hardly needed any break in. Use them to hike about 10 miles a few days after receiving them. Zappos is great for anyone shoe shopping. Order and try on in comfort of you home. If they don't fit or you don't like , just send them back. That all there is. Great job Zappos!

I've only had these boots a week, but I've worn them every day, hiking through snow, mud, and water, and they've been up to every challenge: I come home with dry, unblistered feet every time. My only misgiving is that BOTH sets of laces have already broken!?! (Still, these are great boots.)

I ordered these in November and wore them during the winter as my everyday shoe. The laces frayed and broke in lab February due to rubbing on the eyelets (the last closed eyelets before the open eyelets). In contrast, I have had other brands of the same style that have gone > 12 months with no problems (vs < 4 months).

Okay, so I guess posting my previous review on the Ravus Vent Lux Mid jinxed this one. I ended-up liking the Ravus Vent Lux so much I didn't want to use them as my work boots so I decided to buy the Altitude V I WP to use as my work boots and keep the Ravus Lux for actual hiking and walking. Although I ordered the exact same size (8.5 D) the Altitude's fit felt more like a 9 E or so. The Altitude would have been only the 3rd Hi-Tec boot I've owned so admittedly not a large sample size and it's possible that my Altitude size issue was just a fluke especially since other reviews were happy with the size fit.

This won't be the most helpful review, but... I bought a defective pair. The right shoe was fine, but the left had a lump on the upper part near the toes. Very uncomfortable and impossible to wear. Had to send back. Hopefully this is a one time affair. Have bought this shoe in the past with no problems.

This is a good looking boot but that is the positive. The way the narrow V notch at the Achilles’ tendon is terrible! It is extremely painful. About the only time I will wear them now is when I’m mowing since I can ride a Velke and not have to walk. Hated I did walk around inside the house first so I could have returned them.

Ive bought and worn hi-tec boots for years. I bought a pair of these in April 2022 and they have been in the closet until this recently when my old ones wore out. This latest set are complete garbage. They are stiff and the soles are lumpy which hurt the feet which makes them virtually impossible to walk in. For what little Ive worn them I will have to toss them as sore feet make for a long day. Money is tight and $85 comes hard these days. In summary Ill never buy another pair of these once quality boots as in my opinion they are now complete garbage.
