There seems to be a ton of differing opinions on whether these fit like other Converse. I can only speak for myself, but here's what I found: I normally wear a 9.5 in converse. I ordered a 9.5, and when holding them sole to sole with my modern Chucks, they were a little bigger. I tried both the 70's and my other modern pair on at the same time and the 70's felt bigger. My toes were about a centimeter or so farther back in the new 70's. I exchanger for a half size smaller and they're identical to and fit like my regular modern Chucks. I don't know if this is the case with every pair, but this is what I found. Other than the sizing issue, I love them. The extra padding is great, the canvas is substantially heavier, and everything about them feels and looks better made. You'd be nuts not to go for these over the regular Chucks in my opinion.

I had my first pair of Chucks in 1976. The were navy blue. I practically lived in these shoes. I've worn Chucks for years, since then. The Chucks today are definitely not the Chucks from the '70s. Until now! These are pretty close reproductions of the Chucks I first owned, except for the price (my first pair cost $14.00). I found that these Chucks were a full size too large for me. I normally wear a 9.5D in all other shoes. With the '70s Chucks, I needed a 8.5. There is much more cushion in the insoles and they're much more comfortable than the less expensive model Chucks. Though Zappos only carries the Crimson and Parchment, I have found them in True Navy and Green elsewhere. Perhaps Zappos will eventually carry the other available colors. I've been told that Converse will release this shoe in even more colors as the year progresses. Anyway you slice it, I love these Chucks and I'm extremely glad that Converse has the '70s model available.

Nailed it! These capture the physical look & feel of the 1970's Chucks, but are a bit more cushy. And yet, they are a perfect re-creation. So, how can I say they're the same if they are more cushy, and hence, different? Simple. As far as I remember, my brothers & I (and all our friends) wore Chucks with Odor-Eaters. I'd completely forgotten that because it was just something I took for granted, because IIRC, Chucks never did have enough cushion without an insole. I've tried to buy Chucks a few times in the past years, but as the modern standard ones are even less padded than the oldschool ones, and as I'd also forgotten that we always wore them with Odor-Eaters, they felt horrible. But - you know how a certain smell or taste can bring back vivid memories? Well I bought a pair of these 70's from 6pm.com on a lark, felt the insole with my fingers and thought: That's odd it has sort of a memory-foam feel, which is not how Chucks were. But I slipped them on and laced them up and stood up and BANG suddenly it's ~1976 and I'm walking into the stadium, with my dad, to see the Twins play. Lyman Bostock, Vic Albury, Bert Blyleven, Tony Oliva it's Butch Wynegar's rookie season and he's already playing like a veteran and if we're really lucky, maybe Rod Carew will pinch hit. Rod's knees have been bothering him a lot lately, but he can still swat like a machine You get the point - these things are like a time machine. They nailed it. EXACTLY. Now, to be sure, they don't have much in the way of arch support. In fact, Chucks never did. I wore Converse One-star Leather Hightops through JV & Varsity ball, and One-stars are completely different from Chucks. But these new 70's Chucks feel the way Chucks felt in the 1970s the way we actually wore them with those odd memory-foam-meets-modeling-clay Odor Eater insoles. Nice work, Nike. Way to get the details right!
I'd also recommend:

The hype is right, fit and feel like my "Cons" from the '60's and early '70's. Not cheap but a real Converse Chuck Taylor. Much better than any other Chuck Taylor offering.

I have loved chucks for years and have many pairs. I find them to be very versatile and they only get better with wear. Only recently learned of the '70 version and I had to get a pair. Was not disappointed. They have great style and are very high quality. I am puzzled by all of the reviewers who found them to run large and recommended ordering 1/2 to 1 full size up. I ordered my usual Converse size and they are identical. Putting them sole to sole with a regular pair of chucks, they are the same length and width. I have found that Converse sneakers run bigger than other brands, but I would strongly recommend ordering the same size you wear in regular chucks. Love this shoe??

I was curious to see if these Converse '70 Ox would feel any better or different than the All Star Core. I will say they feel different. The pros are that the quality is better and really heavy duty, which would work for anyone who is tough on their shoes and want something that lasts longer. The foot bed is much better cushioned than than Core, which was the only thing I liked about the shoes. The cons are the shoe is much heavier and much stiffer than Core because of the heavy duty materials used. These shoes do require a breaking in period to start feeling comfortable I think. Because the cut is different, you are forced to size down. I am 7 1/2 and do well with Converse Core in that size. Technically I did fit the size 7 in '70 Ox, but the toe cap is still a bit narrow and my toes felt crowded in them. I think the sizing runs bigger because the toe cap seems a little longer, which made the shoes look a bit clownish on my feet. Getting them a half size bigger would only worsen the clownish look. Also, the "Magic Flamingo" pink looked a little darker and duller in real life than the photo shows, which I didn't like. For me these shoes didn't work at all, and I am returning them. I will stick with the Converse Core Ox. Thank you Zappos for a great return policy and wonderful customer service!

I call my Converse Chuck Taylors "Kamala Kicks" - LOVE THEM! I have large, hard to fit feet. I was prepared to be disappointed when my shoes arrived, but to my surprise they were comfortable! YAY! One caveat (sigh...) - I have on again/off again plantar fasciitis and I have to admit the arch support is so "moderate" as to cause me problems if I walk too long in these tennis shoes. It's not enough to keep me from wearing them, just something I notice after a few hours (and I am investigating inserts to alleviate the problem.) Now that I know my big, fussy feet can wear these I'm going to order more colors!

The shoe fits well as I have plenty of space for my wider front part of feet. The material believe it or not has removable insoles and feels great. Something not available with the other Chuck Taylor's over the shelf brands. These "Chucks '70 Ox" feel awesome.

I needed a pair of low top sneakers that would look decent with a pair of shorts, and also were comfortable to walk around in for several hours a day. I have two other pairs of Chucks, and despite the relative lack of cushioning I'd found them to be comfortable to wear for long periods of time. I went with the 70s in this instance, though, as I'd read that they had more cushioning than the standard version. This turned out to be a great decision. I wore these shoes daily for a recent three day trip to New Orleans, walking countless steps a day from the morning until well into the evening. Aside from my feet just being generally sore from standing and walking for several hours a day, these shoes were terrific. One item of note regarding sizing. My other two pairs of Chucks are 8.5, but I went with a 9 for these. The reason being that I knew these particular Chucks are known to be a bit more "hearty", so to speak, when it comes to the material used. As a result, I felt it would take longer for them to really wear in. I think I'd made the right choice as I feel these will hold their shape and and fit for a longer period of time. The canvas is heavier duty than regular Chucks, and the sole is more dense. With the standard version I've gone with the 8.5 knowing that they'll stretch out a bit. Ok, what else.....the look is great. The laces and lace eyelets are a better quality than the standard shoes. Overall, it's basically a better version of the standard shoe. I'd definitely get another pair.

Tried this and Jack Purcells. Kept this one and returned the JPs because the JPs had little support and felt it wouldn't wear well. The soles of these are very thick and the shoe itself is heavier than other chucks I've had. Only issue I had was that the toe cap is shinier than pictured but hoping it will wear off as I wear them. Great shoe.

Moderately long-time chuck wearer...at 51, I didn't get started until about 10 years ago or so :) In short, these are quite a step up (no pun intended) from the normal chuck. Looks-wise, love the off-white and shiny material. The canvas feels sturdier/stiffer than the normal chuck--if you take them off, they hold their shape. That is not to say they are "stiff" as in uncomfortable. The footbed is the most obvious difference, it is thick and offers cushion. Of course, you can buy something for the regular ones, but these were instantly more comfortable out of the box. I've only had them two days, wore them to work both days, and they started out comfy and are getting more so as they "break in" just a bit. I will say they feel just a tad larger than the regular, but that works well for me since I have wide-at-the-toes paddle feet and shoes typically pinch my pinkie toes even if they fit everywhere else. Time will tell but I think these are a winner and well worth the extra cost over the regular chucks, especially considered over the span of years :)

These hurt my feet. I wear Chuck Taylors almost daily because they do not hurt my troublesome right foot. I tried to wear the 70 around home in hopes it would break in but they are very stiff and constricting, especially around the toe, for me. My feet ached after removing the shoes. I'll return these and get my usual.

If you have a wider foot like me these are soooooo perfect! Over the years I haven’t repurchased converses because they are a bit uncomfortable for me to break into. These old school styles completely change the game for me ! They are so comfortable even first try on. That speaks volumes on how the shoe will break in. I can never go back to buying the other style now. Old school all the wayy.

I wore Chucks when I was a kid and in high school (I'm 55 now), so I was pleased when I got these. They have more cushion than what I remember. I ordered sz. 15 (my size in other shoes) but they were way too big. Got a pair of 14's and they fit great. Zappos return policy is simple and painless. I love these shoes and I love this store!

Look great, feel great. Definitely go a half size smaller. The standard width is a tad on the narrow side but loosen the laces just a bit and there’s even plenty of room for arch support inserts for older hipsters like myself!!

This is the most comfortable pair of Chuck Taylors to date. I run and exercise in these. The classic looks with a premium appeal. This shoes gives support and still flexible. The off-white shine along with the thicker canvas makes these head and shoulders better than the regular Chucks. I will only purchase Chuck Taylor 70s from now on...spend the extra cash, it's well worth it in my opinion.

I generally wear 9.5 in shoes. I purchased the sneakers in 8.5 and 9.0 after reading other reviews about the shoe size running a half to a full size up. I ended up keeping the 9.0. The shoes have more cushioning and are a little heavier than the Chuck Taylor All Star's which i prefer. Overall, really like these sneakers.

Much more cushion on the insole than the classic chucks and more comfort to match. The sizing for chucks have always been small but these aren’t as small because of the extra cushion. I wear a 9.5 in classic chucks but a 10 in the chuck 70s. My recommendation is to buy a half size larger than your normal chuck taylor size (which is 1 to 2 sizes smaller than any other brand).
