I've been wearing Chucks for years, and these are easily the best ones I've ever owned. Being only 18 years old, I never really got to experience Made in the USA Converse All-Stars, despite them having been manufactured in my lifetime. I didn't own any Chucks until about 2006, and by then they had already moved production overseas. I've owned the standard Converse all star, and the leather ones. The Chuck '70, despite being nearly twice the price of the standard Chuck, are easily twice as good. The build quality is much better, to say the least. The rubber wears better, and looks better longer. I've had mine since January, and they have definitely held up better than a standard pair would in that same time period. (I wear mine pretty much every day, I don't really rotate shoes like a lot of people do.) The Chuck '70 has lots of advantages over the regular Chucks: the fabric is thicker and more durable, the insole has more padding and again, is more durable, the eyelets are of much higher quality, everything is taken up a notch. The only beef I have with these shoes are the laces that they come with by default. They are way too long. I would recommend replacing the stock laces with the 54" White Retro Laces. Overall an excellent shoe and easily the best Converse has to offer today.

These Chucks really are an upgrade from the floppy, single-ply versions of the 1990s. This update is very well-padded, and you can actually walk all day in them. Materials are much higher quality, as is the detailing and attention to finish. Well worth the additional 20-30 dollars over the standard Chuck Taylors. My one complaint, and this is why I take away one star from my "overall" rating, is these shoes came with 72" shoelaces - this is a workboot length and even tied to the very last hole, the laces touched the ground and looked sloppy. Which is unfortunate, because the included laces are high-quality, but they ended up in the trash when I had to replace them with 52" laces, which lace up perfectly.

I've been wearing Chuck Taylors for nearly 2 decades now; with flat feet, I sometimes have a hard time finding shoes with zero-arch support and Chucks never have arch support (Yay for me). That's true with these 1970s throw backs, though it does have extra squishy cushioning inside, which feels great. The canvas is thicker and sturdier, which also feels great; I have some trouble with the regular All Stars where the tongue kinda just flops to the side, or the high top doesn't stay high. These things look and feel sturdy, easy to manipulate and get things to stay, and I don't think it s really that noticeably bulkier. I m a petite girl, 5 2, they look great and not at all like clown shoes. While the toe cap is smaller and shiny, none of that looks bad and it all works with the shoe. The shininess is not that noticeable in real life, especially in daylight. Even less in bar lighting. Unlike others who said they had to size down compared to regular All Stars, note that I did not have to change my typical Converse size. My size in Converse is a 5.5 (Men s sizing), and I really appreciate that this has been true for my whole life and has never changed. I have wide feet so the extra width these 70s throwbacks give is appreciated, compared to regular All Stars, though it is not terribly wide compared to other shoe brands. My European shoe size is 38, so a 5.5 Men's size for Converse shoes is perfect. Really glad to have found this size on Zappos because the local stores won t go that small, I guess it s primarily male shoppers buying it. In US Women's sizing I would be somewhere between a 7.5 and 8. Very high quality shoe. I love it so far, and I wish all Chucks were made this way. And while I'm wishing I also wish they were still priced like the last pair I bought (before Nike bought the brand). So I'm deducting one star for the high price. But, it;s hard to find a shoe that fits me well and is of-quality, so I'm still a happy customer.

The extra padding of the insole makes a huge difference on this version and the white is more of an off white...

These were for my husband whose middle name is Converse. He’s very happy with them; just what he wanted. They arrived in a timely fashion.

I’ve been wearing Chucks(lows and hi’s) for years, starting with originals, Jack Purcell’s, and then Chuck II’s. I’ve worn out my Chuck II’s and now that they’re discontinued I needed to try the 70s. About sizing...I have atypical feet, long/narrow/low volume/low instep. I brannock an 11.5-12 B width. I usually wear a 12 in athletic sneakers and 11.5b in dress shoes. I wore size 11 in Chuck II’s(lows) and 11.5 in Jack Purcells(lows). I ended up with an 11 in the 70 hi’s. Since I’m a B width(narrow), I don’t have a problem with the width of the toe box, but to me, the heels feel a little wide. The 70’s come with a removable insole. While it’s leaps and bounds better “cushioning” compared to original Chucks, it’s not as good as the insoles in the Chuck II’s Nike lunarlon or the Nike Zoom Air insoles in the Jack Purcell’s. I ended up using the jack purcell/Nike zoom air insoles in place of the 70s stock insole. The quality of the 70s compared to the originals is night and day. The shoes, overall, feel more substantial, from the weight of the canvas, the foxing comes up higher on the sides, and the soles are thicker. The hi’s also feature a heel cup and feel more structured as far as the upper goes. The Converse 70s are worth it at retail price, but look much better when they’re bought at a discount.

Chuck 70s are my go-to & these are the real deal. Zappos shipping is fast fast fast. If you’re new to Chucks, I would recommend going a full size down. I’m a size 9 for sneakers but wear an 8 in these. Of course, if they don’t fit you, Zappos has a great return and exchange program. Can’t go wrong!

Ordered my last pair of these in a 10.5. As a young adult, depending on the style of shoes, I would wear a 10.5-11. Recently while shopping at a Kohl's for clothing, I was near their shoe department and decided to request a proper shoe sizing with a Brannock device: 10.5 and just a bit wide. After carefully reading through 25-30 reviews for these 70's Chucks, I decided on a 10 because of other's reviews stating that these ran a half-size large. As soon as I have time, these 10s are going back because they're still too large and canvas needs to snug to be supportive. Overall, the sole is very comfortable and it is a classic All-Star that is better made than the standard version.

i absolutely love these chucks !! these are probably my 15th pair, but who's counting. these particular chucks have a different feel to them, the material feels really soft and of high quality. i got the yellow. true to size unlike other chucks I own. nobody wears this shoe for the arch support, if you want arch support maybe you should check out some clarks. i will totally purchase these again, same style. love em to pieces !!!

This is my second pair of these converse that I ordered. I had the first pair for over a year and used them pretty much everyday. Way more comfortable and better quality than original chuck’s. There are two different versions though. My first pair I used did not have removable insoles. The new version has removable insoles that seem like they have a bit more cushion. I would say go true to brannock size. I measure 9 1/2 on brannock and usually wear 10 in athletic shoes. 10 is too long 9 1/2 worked for me. I have wide feet so can be little narrow at first but stretch out a bit. I like that insoles are removable now so I can maybe use different insole if needed. Highly recommend them.

The All Stars 70 are MUCH superior to the modern all stars. The outer sole is much thicker with a gloss. It’s much more comfortable then the modern all stars. The canvas feels very durable and heavy duty. Very vintage vibe to the shoe. Great shoe in all.

I have these and the Chuck Taylor All Star Hi Core. In both I wear a Women’s 7 Men’s 5. My regular shoe size is a 7.5 except in these and Chaco Z1 sandals. So, the 7 in these feel good too. The toe on these feels a little more narrow and slightly pinchy, but still comfy. The footbed on these is more cushy, but I like both footbeds (these and the All Star Hi Core). I did notice that these pull my socks down whereas the Hi Cores do not pull the. Down at all. I really like these. I like the color too (field surplus, egret amd black). The rubber on these is more of an off white as oppose to the bright white on the hi core. Love them both.

These shoes are very true to the original Chuck's that I wore way back when in High School. I appreciate the arch support, however, it is kind of minimal. The shoes are way more supportive than the lighter weight Chucks since the canvas uppers are quite a bit thicker. It'll be interesting to see how they feel after being broken in for a while. The rubber toe shell and side bumpers are also thicker than the regular Chucks and feel much more substantial underfoot. One the first things I noticed is how much better the eyelets look on these shoes. I had never even thought about that item on the shoes until I compared both the regular and '70's Chucks side-by-side. I did find that the shoes run about a half-size large, so keep that in mind when ordering. I love these kicks.

These don't fail you! They have much sturdier support in the sole and arch than I remember converse having back in the day (80's and 90's). The rubber being a slightly cream colour is so aesthetically appealing!

Got these for my bf and he likes them. Just the standard chucks; the rubber has a yellow tint and the shoes seem very well made. He wears them all the time and they go well with most of his clothes. Canvas chucks, not water proof, versatile and pretty standard. This is better than the cheaper version, they are heavier than the cheaper version; sturdier.

Great shoe. I cannot recommend the 70s Chuck enough, they're that great. Pay the difference and get these vs the cheaper versions. They are leaps and bounds a higher quality shoe. The canvas is better, soles are thicker, footbed has arch support and the eyelets will not discolor the laces. These are the Chucks we remember from the 70s and 80s.

These shoes are by far the comfiest converse I have ever worn. I started noticing frequent lower back pain when wearing the regular converse and looked everywhere for a alternative. I tried Dr. Martens (too chunky and heavy), Vans (nice but just didn't feel like me) and even Adidas Sambas (not bad but too narrow). I ended up buying a pair of the skater version of the Converse All Stars. They were great but came apart after 2 years of wear. I finally came across these on reddit and fell in love. They fit similar to standard all stars but actually have a insole. I can now stand and walk in real Converse all day without any issues. Would highly recommend spending the extra cash on these.

A well-worth it throwback version of my favorite shoe of all time. Heavy canvas that has to be broken in, real rubber sole and a cushy interior. The only thing detracting from a perfect score is those way too long laces. Buy them in your regular Chucks size, which for me is a whole size smaller.
