I purchased these to run a Spartan Beast. I needed a good shoe that would support my feet long distance! At my last Spartan Beast i wore the Reebok All Terrain shoes and i liked the fit and arch support but they lacked ankle support.
I'm a 6.5 in regular shoes, 7 in running shoes (I wear Mizuno Wave Inspires) and I ended up with a 7.5 in these. I have a wide foot, narrow heel, high arch, and flexible ankles. THESE SHOES WERE AWESOME! For the race they provded the right amount of grip for mud, water, and a rocky terrain. Didn't hold on to too much water, stayed tied, stayed tight. Provided excellent ankle support for running on trails and rocks. Highly recommend trying these out if you sound like me! I ordered about 9 shoes from Zappos to try them all on and narrowed it down to these, so so happy!
Also wore Injinji toe socks, medium weight trail mini crew ankle socks if anyone needs recommendations for those! Keep dirt out and no blisters after 13 miles!

Amazing shoe. My orthopedist rated this shoe an "A", when I was there with several pairs of different brands that I wear. Every other expensive, popular sneaker I own only scored C- and below. Yikes. I've been wearing them a ton since that visit and they really are better than my other shoes. I hike and work outside often so I've been putting them to the test!

Very comfortable. Make sure to pay attention to La Sportiva’s sizing. I normally wear a 7/37 in dress shoes and 7.5/37.5 in sneaker type shoes. La Sportiva has a size 7.5/38.5, a 7.5+/39 and an 8/40. The 7.5/38.5 fit as long as I wear a thin sock. The 7.5+/39 allows me to wear a thick or thin sock without being too loose or too tight. Kudos to whoever came up with the idea of a size 7.75. The pinkish purple isn’t my favorite color but after I got used to looking at them, I like the pop of color.

I wear La Sportiva running shoes for day hikes. These are very comfortable once you figure out the size. I wear a size 7 in dress shoes and a 7.5 in sneakers. This usually translates to a 37 or 38 in European sizing. If you look at the La Sportiva sizing, 38.5 is a 7.5, 39 is a 7.5+, and 40 is a size 8. The 38.5 was a perfect fit in the sense that I could only wear a thin sock. I opted for the 39. I have room to wear a thicker sock on colder days, but I am not swimming in the shoes if I wear a thinner sock on warm days.

I'm on my fourth pair. Need I say more. Do wish the original colors were available again. I use my old pair(s) around Boulder and I get comments on them all the time. "Best looking runners, where did you get them?" I unfortunately have to respond, " La Sportiva doesn't make this color anymore!" I'll settle for the new color options because they are really a fabulous fit.

I've had this style for years and finally need to replace -- So glad La Sportive still makes them. I have a narrow heel and they don't slip, yet there's ample toe box room so your toes aren't squished. I feel that my foot is stable no matter if I'm running down a trail or going to the store. :) I wear them all the time!

I bought these for hiking when I don’t want to wear heavy hiking boots.
These were very comfortable out of the box. I wear a size 7 in dress shoes and 7.5 in sneakers. This usually translates to a 37 and in some brands a 38. I had to go all the way up to a 39 in the Bushido which according to the La Sportiva chart is a 7.5 .

The shoes were true to sizing (I'm an 8M), comfortable, and felt like they would provide great support. They were light and flexible with adequate arch support, but I was looking for a softer inner sole--- something on the order of Sketchers memory foam. So, unfortunately, I had to return this pair, but would honestly recommend this shoe for most people.

I first used my the Bushido during a Ragnar Relay race in 2016, at night, in the rain, 14 miles of mud. It was also, my first time wearing them. WOW! No break-in period, no slips. After I fell in love with them I ordered 3 more pairs for my Appalachian Trail thru-hike in 2017. 3 pairs, over 2,200 miles hiked. I got between 700-800 miles out of each pair. I never got blisters.
Since then I have purchased 3 more pairs of Bushidos. That's how much I love them, 6 pairs of Bushidos in less than 2 years.
They are so comfortable I wish La Sportive made a road version of the shoe (It doesn't stop me from wearing them road running though!). That's right, even with minimal cushioning they're still comfortable on pavement.
I don't know if I'll ever buy another trail runner ever again. I recommend these to anyone looking for a durable, comfortable, light, trail runner.

This shoe has a reputation amongst my friends for lasting over 2,000 miles. It's indomitable. That being said, the forefoot is pretty sturdy, almost to the point of being hard. If you have metatarsalgia problems ever, I recommend getting the Mutant over the Bushido. I hear they're coming out with a new Bushido II in 2019 that has a softer foreground. I'm super excited for that because this is such a perfect, all-around trail shoe.

The Bushido is a FABULOUS shoe and looks great. I wish they would bring back the red and blue colorful model for women but the blue with orange is lovely too (just doesn't go with as much of my clothing). So great for running in irregular, slick surfaces. Great for skiprunning, agility training, getting across river rocks even (within reason!).

I absolutely LOVE this shoe - I won't run in anything else. I have a narrow foot, so it took me a while to find a shoe that doesn't rub and destroy my heels. Recently I have started wearing this shoe on day hikes and I've been super happy with the grip and the protection so far.

I love these shoes - glad they have a new color to add to my collection. They are super comfortable and supportive. Of course, they will allow your feet to get wet, or sand may get in - they are not GTX (as a comment to a previous reviewer). The fact that they are breathable make them super versatile for year-round use in dry weather. I wear my GTX runners for those wet days.
Sportiva shoes just keep getting better. Thanks for the great shoes!

Absolutely LOVE these shoes! I have the 2016's and they fit perfect from day one. I like a more aggressive trail running shoe but have to have the support as I fight plantar fasciitis if I wear the wrong shoes. This helped support my foot as it needed! I wear these shoes everywhere and all day long along with cross training and running. Definitely purchasing again. Totally worth the money.

Now this is a shoe! I should say sneaker! I have been shopping around for sneakers and have been so disappointed with everything I've tried. I have been an avid Nike customer for years but have become disappointed with their quality, they are expensive yet their quality is getting worse and worse. In my search for sneakers I have tried Asics and Mizunos - different styles, and none worked; either poor quality or a bad fit/construction. These were expensive but from the 1st moment I tried them on... they felt like gloves. The width is perfect, the shoe simply molded to my feet, the structure of the shoe felt almost like I was wearing a perfectly fitted sock. I walked around in my house for a while because I thought it was too good to be true. When I tried them on the next day... same magical fit! I kept them and have loved them since. I walk a lot, and the terrain is not always smooth, these shoes are very stable and you feel the ground you are walking on. If you are looking for cushioned sneakers, these may not work for you because they are not cushion on the soles of the feet. You can feel the ground, rocks and tree branches you are walking over but that allows me to feel the ground more and keeps my feet from sliding all over in the shoe itself. I do wish however they were a bit more cushioned for really long walks, but when I wear them to work, and am off my feet most of the day, I forget I'm even wearing the sneakers, that is how comfortable they are on my feet. After really longs hikes my feet tend to hurt a bit because of the lack of cushion but given that, I still am very happy with them. The arch is placed further back in the shoe compared to say Asics or Nike but for my feet, it is perfect placement. The only other thing I wish was different... they are made in China. Love these sneakers! (I did buy the 40.5 even though I normally wear an 8.5.)

I LOVE this shoe! I run, hike, and guide in the Sierra and wear this shoe for everything. Lightweight, comfortable, with great traction.
When do we get a new color? I loved brighter version. Can we get some red? pink? Seriously. I have 3 pairs and they are worn to the ground and I'm desperate for another pair.

These are the best all around shoes that I have ever owned! I am a rock-climber, caver, backpacker, and trail runner as well as a product development engineer for Sterling Rope Co Inc. I wear these shoes for running, approaches, and walking around town...pretty much everything except on really steep terrain and in caves. I've used them to backpack the Sierra High Route, caving expeditions, and getting to crags. The only issue I have noticed is stitching blowing out, but this is minor and pretty hard to design against. I have tried a number of other trail runners including Montrail's Mountain Masochist and Treksta's SYNC. The Masochists held up okay, but the side webbing pressed on the 5th Metatarsal in a painful way (though I have broken both feet and had multiple surgeries, so this probably won't be an issue for others) and didn't have very good tactile response on loose terrain. The SYNCs were very comfortable, fit well, and very stable on loose terrain, but not very durable...I was having to duct tape some of the mesh after two weeks of backpacking. Of course, part of the problem could be the terrain I am trying to wear trail runners on. The Bushido's performed well in all conditions and met all criteria that I mentioned having issues with above! Additionally, the toe box is a great shape/size. Please don't change the design of these!!!

Broke these in while running a half marathon (with no issues whatsoever), so I think I can honestly say that these were comfortable right out of the box. The bottoms of these shoes are super grippy and I felt confident stomping through mud and pounding slick pavement. Usually it's a little difficult finding hiking/running shoes wide enough for my feet, but the wide toe box kept my piggies happy. Looking forward to going on some gnarly hikes with them!

Took these out on a 10 mile hike up in the White Mountains in NH. I couldn't be happier. These shoes were light weight, comfortable (no blisters) and very sticky. It had a solid grip on the slippery wet rocks during our descent and I didn't think twice about my footing. Great toe box, especially for a light trail runner. I needed a trail runner that was durable enough for rough terrain and long distances and the Bushido's were able to withstand that!

Love these shoes! Never wore a trail runner before. On the road I wear a lightweight, flexible shoes. I found the Bushido to be flexible where they need to be (at the metatarsal plange joints) and very stable and supportive in the rest of the shoe. They are light, very comfortable and fit perfectly. I was most impressed by the traction going up and down hills. No fear of falling or slipping and I can just fly up the trail hills now. I wore them today in the packed snow/ice on a trail and it made winter running something to look forward to. Used them last week on the trail (no snow then) and they were still great. So happy with them. I want to wear them all the time.

Testing these out and have done multiple backpacking trips now with no issues! I need a wider toe box and these have been great. Amazing grip and support. I will be taking these in a few weeks to backpack 221 miles on the JMT! I have never fallen in love with any trail/hiker yet, but I guess I can't say that anymore.

It was the color that attracted me to these sneakers. Now that I have them, the colors attract everyone else too! Tons of compliments and people asking where I got them. The best part though, is for me, they are true to size and quite possibly the most comfortable sneaks I've ever owned. I own a liquor store and am on my feet all day on a cement floor, my feet never complain! I just ordered these in blue.
