I don't have this particular vanadis grey heather color, as it is a new fabric they are testing out for the outer shell (I have tried it on in the store however, it's smooth cotton-like material, yet waterproof), but I've had the Venture jacket since 2003. The first one did start peeling by the neck inside, after a few years. TNF has a lifetime (of the jacket) warranty, so I brought it into the store, showed them, and they sent it to their warranty dept in California and I received a new one in a different size (I'd gained weight since I bought the first one) in about two weeks. Anyone complaining about the lining peeling who doesn't take advantage of TNF warranty, well, that's just dumb. It's a great jacket, a bit sticky inside as are most waterproof rain jackets under $250 (and even then most of them do get moist from sweat inside) but that's why there are pit zips, and you can unzip the hand pockets for even more air flow. The jacket IS waterproof, but you do need to wash it occasionally (more often if it is worn often) and treat it now and then with something such as Grangers waterproof spray or a Nik Wax product. I'm buying another one now (I lost a great deal of weight, this time!). The only jacket I like better for rain is the Eddie Bauer BC 200 (now called the BC Ultralight or something) which is $250. For the price, get this jacket. It WILL keep you dry.

Good quality jacket, kept me dry for 7 years. Inner lining finally started to peel off. Read that quite a few other people had the same problem.

Size M too tight, especially under a sweater; tight under armpits. No collar-pocket for hood (hangs loose!).

This jacket is great. Kept me bone dry in what was basically a monsoon last fall. You can pack it anywhere and it weighs hardly anything so you are always ready for the rain!

Purchased this shell as a raincoat ,but now use it over my north face fleece during cold New England weather no complaints here. Another great garment by North Face!

This is my new favorite TNF jacket. Coming from a guy that owns a bunch of them, that's saying a lot.

My last TNF raincoat lasted 10 years and just started to breakdown on the inside (will try to get TNF to replace). Decided to purchase again knowing the quality would be great. This color combination was what I was looking for and the fit and finish is fantastic. Have been out in the rain this winter quite a bit this winter and this jacket does not disappoint. Dry and comfortable while looking good. Love the hood with the cinch in the back to fit properly without slipping. the zipper in the front is easy and pulles up over your mouth area to give maximum protection. the inside around the neck is soft and comfy too.

Works and looks great. For those wondering about the fit, I would say that it has more of roomier/regular fit.

Works great to wear as an outer layer on top of a sweatshirt. Not warm on its own. Great color and quality. I purchased the gray as a gift.

I live in the Pacific Northwest, so shells and raincoats are an essential part of my daily life. This is a very light, packable design that makes a nice impermeable garment and is sufficiently warm if one has layers on underneath. As with all shells, lack of ventilation is an important issue and though this jacket tries to solve the problem with for vents in the armpits, it is something that is inherent to their design. Either way, if you're moving, you will be warm! The jacket is well cut and hugs close to the body. I'm 6'2", about 190 lbs and a medium works quite well for me, even with a hoodie on underneath! Originally, I ordered a large, but it was quite baggy, particularly in the chest area, but I did like the extra length in the sleeves.

Love the color and the feel. Keeps you warm without being bulky.

I bought this for my brother as he is going to be in Scotland and Ireland and needed rain weather gear. The North Face rain gear never disappoints! This coat keeps you dry and is light weight which is great to throw in a backpack.

Got it within a week. Great jacket.Cant wait to use it when it gets a bit warmer.Did smell a little funky though.I'm 5'7 and weigh 145 lbs.It fits comfortably.

Great rain jacket. Has oversized inside mesh "pockets" that can be used to hold iPhone and wallet. Fits well, is light, and keeps you dry!

This jacket is trendy, comfortable and versatile. Although it is very thin and light, it blocks the wind very well during rainy and chilly days.

I got the Banff Blue/Urban Navy one; so far it's as expected of The North Face brand. My first Venture jacket lasted about four years. As stated in another review, you do need to wash it once in a while to maintain it's functionality. Just had the first snow day of the season, and the jacket kept me nice & dry. The fit is a bit on the roomy side if worn on its own, but just fine over another layer of clothing. I would definitely recommend this product.

Great jacket. Keeps me dry in extreme conditions, lightweight and packable. Easily used for three seasons per year.

I have Venture Jackets since 2005 (my fourth one). So far no issues apart the one with peeling of the inner layer in neck area. Hope this new series will have it sorted out. They changed the fit a bit. Sleeves are wider (2 cm/0.8 inch) and a longer (4 cm/1.6 inch) which is a negative for me. Even the jacket is 2 cm longer, but this one is a plus from my point of view. I am 185 cm tall with a bit longer torso.

I guess it depends what you're buying this jacket for. If you are buying it to wear to your kid's soccer game on a rainy day then yes it is a great jacket. I however, purchased it to use on a 4 day hike in Colorado and that was a mistake. Jacket did not withstand the rainy conditions and I was wet within a matter of hours. The pockets also could have been set up a lot better to go with a pack. Unfortunately, just more reasons why I no longer count on North Face for solid outdoor gear.
