Merrell has changed the fit on these shoes. The toe box is more pointed now, a change made for looks not comfort. I could always count on Merrell to design shoes that followed the outline of my toes. That is why these shoes were so comfortable. I hope that Merrell does not go the way of other shoe manufacturers and design for fashion and not health of your feet. I ordered a size 9 which was too big and a size 8½ which was too small. Unfortunately, in the chaos of all the Christmas decoration boxes, I threw away all the packaging so there is no way to send them back for a refund. That was not Zappos' fault.

I've worn through two pairs of these -- black and navy. Loved loved loved them. Then I bought the Dragonfly color. The upper fabric is not as comfortable or forgiving. I can't wear them. They hurt my feet. I'm afraid to try the black or navy again in case the change in fabric is across all colors. (I see some other reviewers also noting a change in the fabric.)

The sizing of this shoe has changed. I had previously bought the encore breeze 2, size 7. These shoes are great and I wanted to replace them. Therefore I ordered encore breeze 3 (the currently available style) in size 7 and size 7 wide. The regular width 7 is now too narrow for me, and the wide size is too wide. I had to return both pairs.

Within less than 5 minutes of wearing these shoes, I noticed the heel of the right shoe was lower than the left shoe - like it had collapsed or was deflated. I was already wearing them outside so it was too late to return them. I've kept wearing them and now the right heel makes a small clicking sound at each step. Also, I found the shoes to have horrible arch support so my plantar fasciitis is acting up again. Also, the width of the shoe is fine, but getting my foot in the shoe is hard. I guess the size of my foot near my ankle is too large for the shoe - even though I got a wider size. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because they look great on my feet.

I have worn this style (Encore Breeze and Encore Breeze 2) shoes for years and always told people that they were the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I'm really disappointed that I cannot say the same about Encore Breeze 3. They felt snug when I first put them on and at first I chalked it up to them being new (which had never been a problem before), but after wearing them for a couple of days my feet really hurt and I had to stop wearing them. I found a pair of Encore Breeze 2 on Amazon in my size and purchased them - they feel great. The fit has clearly been changed - why Merrell, why? I wish they'd had the sense to stop tinkering with a good thing.

I bought this very same shoe a year or so ago, and loved it I have a short wide foot and this shoe was made for me...when my new puppy chewed up the left shoe (he only like the left one) I decided to get another pair. This time the 5 wide was too long and too narrow. Wore them anyway 'cause I'd taken them on a trip and didn't have anything else to wear. Supper bummed.

Very disappointed in the "3" version of all new Encore shoes by Merrell. The footbed has changed and I can no longer wear the new styles. Previous versions are the only shoes I can wear so not sure what I'll do now. Why the change? Didn't Merrell sell enough or were they trying to make more money? Anyway, it's a shame when good things change and not for the good. Sorry Merrell...not a good move as far as I'm concerned.

I own several pairs of Merrells. This pair is not the same fit at all. I read the other reviews and I agree, not the same fit at all. Sorry, I do love my old Merrells. Right heel is very loose.

As other reviews had mentioned, but I had to find our myself, the old Encore Breeze were far superior - the inside was softer, and the sizing was more accurate - the pair I have returned were a size smaller and narrower than the same sizing as my others. Even with the year old ones being broken in, there is no way I could get in an orthotic as the distance between the footbed and the top of the foot is much closer/tighter. It is disappointing at best as the Breeze were my go to shoes in different colors. I will try a size up and wider and hope that might alter, just to be sure when they return to stock. To the reviewers who like the new Encore Breeze better, you have good feet!

I was very excited to learn that Merrell was offering a few of their styles in a wide width. However, they need to do some work on their sizing. I normally wear a 7.5W, and the closest I got to a good fit was a 6.5W in the Merrell Encore Breeze 3 shoe, and only if I took the insole out. They have widened the whole shoe, and consequently they look box-like on your feet. I'll try their wide shoes again, but only after reading reviews that state they've made a lot of improvements in the sizing. The colors of "Aluminum" are very pretty, but they are being returned.

I've worn Merrell "Breeze" for years and they were always my go to shoes for comfort. Merrell, why did you change and discontinue the Primo? Encore just isn't the same, it's a much narrower fit. I can never understand why when companies have a winner why they feel the need to change! Anyway, these are going back. I may order a couple more of the same to see if the fit varies by shoe (this does happen when cheaper versions are made). Boo for the Encore, please bring back the Primo!

I have four pairs of the Breeze 2 in four different colors. They are amazing. The Breeze 3 does not have the same arch support as the Breeze 2. I am returning them. Bring back the old styling, please, Merrell!

I have high arch and Merrell used to be my go to shoe, have bought numerous pairs of winter boots, walking shoes (love the old Encore MJ but they stopped making it, which is a shame) and the previous versions of this slip-on after they got rid of the Encore MJ. But about 2-3 years ago they changed their sizing and fit along with the introduction of all those 'light/bare' shoes which have inferior soles and do not provide the stability I needed. I tried 4-5 different styles and the new sizing is both longer and narrower, that puts me in between 38 and 38.5 and I have not been able to wear their shoes since. Fast forward to this version of Encore breeze, I really liked the style and tried to give this newer version a try and it simply does not work out, again. It is too narrow at 38 or too long in the back at 38.5. Sad to say I have been having issues finding replacements, have since switched mostly to Keen/Jambu/J-41 but they do not have as good an arch support. Please bring back the old sizing.

Wow, what did Merrell do to this shoe? I have the older Encore and love them, but this shoe did not fit right and was very uncomfortable! I have never had a pair of Merrell's I didn't love instantly except these! Why change a good thing?

I have 6 pairs of these but a few years older. They are still the most comfortable shoes I ever had but the newer version are Cheap, too long, slips off no matter what size. Why change a good thing????

I have worn Merrell Encore for years and loved them but now, Merrell has changed the shoe and it will not fit. I tried a 6 (usual size) and 5 1/2, still no good. Merrell sent me insoles, still my heel slips out. It's very different and disappointing! Looking for ideas on other shoes.

This is the 3rd pair of the Encore Breeze style that I have bought (this is Encore Breeze 2 - not sure if my original pairs were #1 or not)...these do not feel like the previous shoes. My foot slips out of the back - it definitely is more shallow there than my other pairs. I am so disappointed. Why would Merrell change a winning product? I wonder if the Encore Breeze 3 fits the same? Unfortunately, I will be returning this pair.
