I don't understand the negative reviews on this shoe. I love mine. Hiking boots are not supposed to feel all cushy inside like a good pair running shoes. You usually have to break in hiking shoes. I haven't even had to break these shoes in. They're very comfortable. Also, I went out to run errands today and stepped in water and snow and my feet did not get wet. I guess if you're going to hold your foot down in water, your foot would get wet naturally. For the purpose I bought these shoes, they are terrific. I usually buy a 9 1/2 W in running shoes (the 1/2 is to keep my toenails from getting damaged when I walk on the treadmill). In this shoe I bought a 9 1/2 regular width. Hope this review helps.

My feet are narrow through the heel and wide in the toe area, with tailor's bunions. I needed to replace my old Teva trail runners with a wider shoe because of the bunion situation, and this shoe is just what I needed. I ordered a wide for the first time in my life and the fit here is fantastic - gives my toes the extra room they need without being too wide in the heel. The Merrell insole isn't very supportive, but that isn't a problem for me as I always use my own insoles. These shoes also look really nice with khaki hiking pants, great look for those of us who don't enjoy the fluorescent colors featured by many athletic shoe brands these days.

I have skinny, pigeon-toed, flat feet prone to plantar faciitis. Oh, yes, also have bunions. TMI? Merrell is my brand. The azura replaced old ones that I had worn for years. I walk 4 miles a day. Comfy from the 1st day.

I absolutely love these shoes. My toes never seem to have enough wiggle room and Merrell Wide is perfect. Color is wonderful. Also buy Brooks, which are good but a bit heavy and Asics which have great bounce but not quite as room in toe area. These are Superb!

This shoe has a very roomy toe box, something I didn't expect but liked. I've had a hard time finding a shoe that fits in length and width. In the past I've gone a half size larger in wide. Lately I thought that I should find something that fits in length and width. So I took a chance on these and was pretty satisfied. Now I'm looking for a walking shoe that fits this well. However, I don't like the style of those that are available in Merrell. I guess I'll have to take a chance on another shoe.

There are AWESOME! I purchased a 7w and they fit. Great wiggle room in the toe box, don't squash my toes together AND I can wear mid weight socks with them. I'm in love, will probably buy another pair in lighter colors once they become available! I can't wear wide widths that taper, like some other shoes do, but the Azura's are perfect! If you have wide, splayed feet give these a go!

Great fit! Like the colors too. I had swollen feet since I'm 7 months pregnant and these sneakers gave me the support without being too tight.

I do a lot of hiking on trails around my home and these shoes are great. They keep my feet dry (unless there's a deep puddle) and provide good traction and support. I love them!

These shoes fit my wide feet very well, but I was disappointed in the lack of cushioning in the foot bed. The insoles were very thin, like you would find in any cheap shoe. Considering that they are meant for serious walking (and the steep price), I feel that is a poor design. I had to swap them out for orthotics with better arch and metatarsal support. If I had tried them on in person, I might not have gone with them.

Good solid boot - I measure 9D and bought this in 9.5W. I swapped out the insoles for Montrail low profile ones and am good to go. I walk about 4 miles, 3 times a week in winter and these have been keeping my toes warm and dry. I am really a Vibram five fingers fan, but these are much better for New England winters. So until the weather warms up, I can still keep walking and get some fresh air.

I love Merrell shoes and have owned many pairs. These shoes just haven't lived up to what I expect from Merrell. They do not provide enough support and I find all day of walking in they my feet are killing me.

Comfy right out of the box. Fit my narrow feet; heels don't slip out and normal amount of room in toe box w/o being 'wide'. Runs true to Merrill sizing (I range from 8.5-9, but always take the 8.5in this brand). Clunky looking, but protective. Tread pattern not overly aggressive....good for light-moderate hiking, + they work great for mountain biking with flat pedals w/spikes. I wish the laces started a little closer to the toe, but should be fine.

Love Merrell shoes. Love Zappos free shipping and return. It often takes me several tries to find a shoe I can keep.

Classy for a sneaker. Just because I am of the female persuasion doesn't mean I want white sneakers with pink trim for crying out loud. Super comfortable - Good arch (not excellent but good enough) support for a casual day to wear. And perfect for the gym. And so light I'm comfortable wearing them on the scale. :)

Have worn Merrell shoes for years but need a wide shoe now due to foot surgeries. So excited that they now come in wide widths. Wish all their shoes came in wide. Needed these hikers for an upcoming trip. I've been wearing them around town but they really haven't needed breaking in. Perfect out of the box.

I have a wide foot with bunions and wear custom orthotics, so I feel lucky to find a shoe that fits and is comfortable. These shoes worked perfectly! I replaced the insoles with my orthotics and wore around the house for an hour. The next day I walked over 2.5 miles with no hot spots or achy feet. The shoes are not cushioned like sneakers, but they are supportive and stable for walking on streets and trails. The teal and gray colors are great for fall and look good with jeans and cargo hiking pants. I will buy another pair in a different color very soon!

The shoe was far too flexible for my liking. I didn't feel as though my feet would be protected if I stepped on anything sharp or uneven. It's more like a tennis shoe with a trail look.

I need a wide shoe and room for my orthotics, these work great and are very comfortable. The heel doesn't slide even with the orthotics! Great speedy delivery from Zappos once again! Thanks.

I ordered 5 different size color and width variations in hopes of finding the right one. This one is perfect! I know that they are not waterproof so I might give them a spray with waterproof product to give a boost but they are comfortable right out of the box. This color combo looks great with my army green and warms browns. They look more feminine than my previous hiking shoes. Not quite as purple looking as the picture, they are a nice chocolate brown leather with a nice dull purple. My right foot has problems from volleyball injuries but these felt good right away.

I bought these shoes for walking in our rocky desert outback, and they really fit the bill. Roomy toebox (thanks, Merrell for the wide width) means no pain in the forefoot. My heels are narrow, so they slip around some. Merrell is my go-to hiking shoe.

When I first put on the shoes, they were uncomfortable on the undersides of the widest part of my feet and I was worried they were too narrow, but within about half an hour they were perfectly comfortable. There is plenty of toe room. My first pair of Merrell's lasted for many years, and I have no doubt these will too.

Love these shoes! These shoes have been through a great deal with lots of heavy duty usage! I compete in dog sports, so I need a shoe that is light and has enough traction to make the sharp turns. Also something that will not get soaked from a drop of rain. The Merrell Azura shoes does all of the above and more. The sizing is spot on and the toe box is nice and roomy (but not too roomy). I can easily spend 10+ hours on my feet without pain. I have been wearing them for over 8 months and they are still going strong!

I ordered over thousands of dollars worth of shoes before I settled on these gems. They're sturdy, comfortable and love that they come in a width width. If they came in extra wide, I'd have ordered that but these fit well and don't make my feet cramp! Nice support and look good too.

I am training for a marathon walk and these above all the many shoes that I have tried, is like heaven. It feels like floating, they are so comfortable and provide good support. I love them.
