I have very picky feet and tried many shoes before settling on these which felt great off the bat and still do a couple months later. They feel very solid and are a bit wider than most shoes this size (which is great for me). I wish they were a little lighter, but given everything else, the weight is something I can live with. I wore Columbia shoes for years before this, but they stopped making the one I liked (sawtooth) and I couldn't find a good replacement until now.

Very comfortable right out of the box. Great color scheme. True to size. Only issue, the tread of the shoe is harder than most Merrell's I have owned. Because of this, when the shoe bottom is wet, it is very slick on hard surfaces.

It's been over 10 years since I've purchased any Merrell Product. The Pulsate saves the day! I initially ordered Merrell Moab waterproof in size 11 Wide. The Moab runs narrow in my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised after speaking with an attentive Zappos customer service rep. She assured me the Pulsates would arrive the very next day. I just received the Pulsates and am delighted that they fit well. I will be running on running on paved running trails as well as off road running trails. The Pulsate is just right for my wide feet. The shoes fit comfortably and are stylish as well.

This is my forth pair of Merrell shoes. I have always found the quality to be very good. Everyone of my older pairs of Merrells I have worn until they needed to be replaced (2 years on the average). These shoes tend to be my daily wear. I wear them with Khakis, Jeans, and shorts without feeling the style was out of place. I love these Pulsates, they fit very well and this style is very clean and Iconic Merrell.

First. I usually wear a 13EE in most all athletic shoes. I wear a 12EE in most "dress" shoes. So, having a wide foot and my true size being somewhere around a 12.5EE, I bought a 13EE. The wide width in the Pulsate was much too wide for me. I sent them back and ordered a 13D. Received them today (3/10/14) and they seem to be a perfect fit. Just wearing them around to break them in a bit before serious use. The color. I ordered the "white dove/castle rock". It is awesome looking. The gray is darker than the picture depicts and the minimal red accents are nice. I know some will object to this particular shoe because it's not waterproof (either Merrell's own or Gore-tex, but a Pulsate waterproof model is available) or object because it doesn't have a Vibram sole. All of that probably won't be an issue for most day hikers on not too technical trails. And again, many thanks to the folks at Zappos for excellent customer service. Awesome as always.

Have never been disappointed with Merrell. They make a great shoe, and this is no exception. It feels good and looks good!

Feels great. More sturdy and rugged feeling than others tried. My only concern is limited ventilation and the price is a bit high. Slight wide around the ball of the foot.

I'm pretty fussy about shoes and I'm very pleased to say that these are wonderful. Very comfortable immediately out of box. I own several pairs of Merrell shoes and have never been disappointed.

This is my favorite all-around shoe. I have all 3 color options & they all look great. I can wear them for work, walks, and they're perfect for hiking. Merrell soles are great and the loose pattern provides traction without picking up rocks. They're well-built, durable, feel true to size and even the standard width fits my wide foot well. Best shoe ever!

This is truly a Merrill shoe. I have had a few pairs and these are as good as any of the rest I have had. I am on my feet all day at work. Excellent shoes.

Great shoe, my second pair of Merrells hiking shoe. First pair was smaller in length and wider in width than I expected - wound up with some sore big toes. This time I order a 1/2 size larger & 1/2 size smaller width & they fit great.

I am a woman who has always loved Merrells. My feet are wider now that I am older and Merrell does not make wide widths for women, so I purchased these men's shoes and they are awesome! They are very comfortable, wide toe-box, great support. I wore them out of the box and put at least six miles on them the first day. These are great shoes, better looking than the women's styles, and more comfortable than the Moab. My dog appreciates longer walks now that I have these shoes!

Fantastic shoe. Comfort level is off the charts, easily my most comfortable shoe. Very rugged, light, and of course comfortable. I'm very pleased with this purchase, and highly recommend it.

I randomly ordered these shoes for a family member. Fit is GREAT for an 8 1/2 EEE foot and they were really impressed with the beautiful quality of the shoe and the comfort. GREAT JOB Merrell!

This has been a very comfortable pair of shoes. I've worn them to the office, to walk the dog in all conditions including ice and snow, and to hike in the nearby state parks, including steep muddy trails. The shoes are great in all conditions. I wish the ventilated version were still available for warmer months. And I wish I'd gotten two pairs to slow down the tread wear from such constant use.

Love these! Low mileage so not a good can't speak of durability, but they feel stout enough for day hikes through mild to moderate terrain. Size 11EE was a perfect fit for my 11EE foot.

Merrell is always better constructed with attention to finish and style. I have had several pairs. This shoe runs a tad wider than others. Which seems to fit me better. If I order a wide then its seems too big, but many mediums are too narrow. This one comes about right.

I ordered these shoes with four other pairs. This was the best arch support and overall fit. The toe box is pretty big, but not uncomfortably so. The materials and workmanship is superb. It probably will not ventilate enough as a sneaker replacement and could feel heavy for casual wear. For what is intended - general hiking - it should last a long time.

First of all I cannot say enough good things about Zappos. I cannot imagine shoe shopping anywhere else. Zappos' service, selection, return policy, etc... you get the picture - is superb. My husband has been wearing Merrell shoes for work and play for years. He is an Architect/Design Builder. These shoes take him from a trench to the office to a field in great comfort. We would highly recommend Merrell shoes.

I love the shoes! They fit very well, and were comfortable from the moment that I put them on with no break in required. The only thing that I would suggest is that Merrell use rectangular shaped (instead of round) shoelaces and provide laces a little bit longer. The laces that came with my shoes were round and 50" long. Since they are round, they tend to come untied more than rectangular shaped laces, so I need to double-tie them. But the 50" length barely leaves enough room to double-tie. I went to the Merrell website to order some different laces, but learned that no laces would be available until next month. I will probably find some different laces at my local REI or Sporting Goods store. Other than that minor complaint, I love the shoes and would buy them again. As usual, Zappos' customere service was the best in the business, and I will buy my next pair of shoes from Zappos.

Great shoe. They run longer and they do run wide, which in my opinion, is the sign of a good high quality shoe. With New Balance shoes, I wore a 4E (Extra Wide). The size M in these shoes is the exact same size. Also my normal size in New Balance 10 1/2 was too long for my foot, I use a 10 in this brand. These shoes are really awesome if you need to stand on your feet long periods of time. As with any shoe, I think shoe company sizes differ, something to keep in mind. Zappos also has excellent customer service as well. Free shipping? Also for returns? Shopping at Zappos is a no brainer.

These are awesome shoes. I've worn them every day since I got them three weeks ago. I tried several pairs of another high rated brand, but they kept feeling too narrow. The Merrell Pulsates felt like a perfect fit, very supportive, with an awesome grip on ice, snow, and steep trails full of leaves and snow. I've been wearing these shoes hiking every day as well as to the office, to teach my college classes, and to church!

A comfortable shoe, right out of the box. A small, but important thing to me is that the shoelaces stay tied all day long with a single knot -- always had to double-knot my Keens or they were constantly coming undone.

Shoe is just as described. Comfortable, solid hiking shoe. Well built. Fits as described.
