The Pulsate is a very nice-looking shoe, with a sturdy sole and comfortable toe box. The problem I had with these is that they were extremely uncomfortable around the ankle. Too snug, too stiff, and rubbing in the wrong places. I have especially lean, bony ankles so maybe I'm the problem. In any event, they were too uncomfortable to wear for even a short period of time.

This is my third pair of these...love them. The only reason it's my third pair is because I pound the pavement in them driving the brown bus. Would highly recommend.

These boots continue to meet the quality and expectations of Merrell shoes. The color and style looks amazing and more modern than previous models like the refuge and chameleon. It has a great new sole that's has exceptional grip which sits a little higher than other models (you can notice it when you can touch your vehicle's pedals with less stretch. The only issue I found is with the lip which is just a tad bit short (or the top hook is slightly too high) resulting in the top of the boot sometimes feeling like it is digging into your leg above the ankle when it is tight and you're walking.

These shoes hurt the tops of my feet!
The lacing system seems poorly designed as the shoes are really uncomfortable. To make the shoes fit properly, you have to lace them up fairly tightly. This pushes the laces and tongue into the tops of my feet so much that it hurts. The only way to solve this is to loosen the laces so much that they are too loose on my feet.
I hate these shoes and they are really painful to wear.

Greatest shoes ever. Not sure why they would stop making these shoes. I would have bought 10 pairs of them had I known they would stop making them. I wore the Heck out of these for years. I do construction, foraging and am an avid outdoorsman. These boots are comfortable for 12 hours a day, many days in a row. Waterproof (not anymore as I have worn holes through them) but they breathe enough that your feet don't get sweaty on hot days like other waterproof shoes. If anyone knows where I can get more of these exact shoes, I would gladly pay more than they are priced.

I bought these boots to help deal with plantar fasciitis. I tried on at least a dozen pair before settling on these and my feet thank me. Good support, nice heel cup; they almost feel as if I am wearing nothing.

Great shoes. I have wide feet and usually have a hard time finding shoes that fit. These were perfectly comfortable right out of the box, and have so far been great to walk in. They have solid construction and good support for hiking in rough terrain. I would definitely buy again.

First of all, I need wide width, which Merrell has in only limited styles. I've had 2 different pair of Kinetics. The Pulsate is by far the most comfortable I've had. There is plenty of room for my custom orthotics.

I have been very happy with this purchase.
It is a very sturdy boot and have not had any issues with walking through deep snow and water.
The traction of the sole is fantastic.

Merrell shoes are the only ones that I can purchase online and know they will fit as per the customer ratings.

To start, this is a comfortable boot. I usually wear a backpacking boot because I like the feel (though I'm a day-hiker), but I thought I'd go with a lighter weight boot this time. It fits really nicely, and I have wide feet and this doesn't compress me like a lot of "wide" boots. My foot doesn't slide around and fits nicely. I have one complaint: it's not a grippy as previous boots. I slip a lot more on rocks, especially smooth or slightly wet rocks. You may say this is normal, but it doesn't come close the the Vasque Bitterroot. The problem with that boot was that the sole wore out within 1 season and I have a lot of separation of the rubber base and the leather, something that shouldn't happen in a boot with their price. I also liked the grip on the Irish Setter Trailblazer but the lugs eventually popped off making the boot uneven and unwearable. But I still like these Merrells and will wear them until they come apart. I look forward to winter to see how truly waterproof they are as I hike a lot in the snow.

I've had these shoes for about a year and a half. They are extremely comfortable for everyday wear, walking, or hiking. Expect some ankle bite the first few days of wear until they break in. You can minimize the pair by not lacing up the top two quick lace hooks until they are broken in. They provided excellent traction on snow and ice. Mine are still waterproof. I find that Merrell is a bit wider than other brands of shoes. Probably comparable in width with New Balance shoes. My feet are a bit wider than a D so Merrells have always fit well. My only complaint is my shoes are about done and ready for replacement. I expected more life out of them for the price. However, considering how great they feel and the waterproofness I will most likely buy them again.

These shoes look awesome and the material appeared to be very sturdy. They looked so good in the pictures I bought them in 2 colors. Unfortunately, I had to return them because they were way too narrow. My feet are slightly wider that standard but I've never had a problem with any other shoes like this before. They really look good and if your feet are slightly less than standard width you'll be happy with them, they looked and felt like they would hold up through any terrain, although I wasn't that happy with the arch support, either. I did like how they really wrapped my ankle, I can see how they would be great for hiking. I ordered them on a Monday and had them in 28 hours! Zappos rules.

These did not last a year. The front upper rubber extension of the sole separated on one boot and has started on the second. That's with a lot of life left in the shoe. I glued it back with shoe/sole specific glue but it was a pretty big separation. Second, the grip of the sole isn't very good, worst of many boots. I hike on leaf covered ground as well as significant elevation hikes with rocks, roots, wet, dry, etc. and I slip a lot more with these than any previous boot. One the good side, they are very comfortable, fit to size well, including my wide foot. I would not purchase this book again. Interestingly, one day while I was hiking a local mountain, this guy kept running up and down the trails. When I got back to the car, there was another man with a box of essentially identical running type shoes, all Merrell. He said he was a Merrell engineer and they were testing different soles but on identical shoes so the runner would not know which sole they were testing. He said they were trying to find the best grip-not too much or too little- for mountain hiking/running. He said to get a boot with all the different attributes, good for dry, wet, rocky, leafy, etc., is very hard. I was glad that they were working on it but it was obviously too late for me.
