Truly, one of the only American made boots. All resources, are American. You will not find a better boot. I researched and tried all kinds and brands of boots for years. Indian Larry got me hooked on this boots. Best boot hands down. From riding to working or just a day off. From construction and concrete for 12 hours plus, this boots feel like walking on air. and I am not a little guy either. Very important, it will like all leather, take a week or so to break in. I would suggest work the leather with some mink oil before and a couple days later. Get some Thorlo moderate cushion work shocks and Thorogood shock zone or red insoles. Made a huge difference, night and day. The sock have extra padding in the toe, heel and the ball of the foot. I have tried all kinds of insoles and the red insoles are the best I have found. check out Weinbrenner usa for more info and the rest of the best.

The leather is perfect. It is soft, but supportive. I love the color. It is darker than the picture, kind of like a Rawlings baseball glove. That is really cool. I love the outer sole, it is soft and absorbs heavy walking stress. One complaint: the insole is too squishy. It looks like a really high tech insole, but its too soft and allows my heel to bounce with each step. After a whole day walking on concrete I have got huge blisters, and was limping to my car by the end of the day. I have had this same problem with a pair of Redwings before, and was hoping that the Thourogoods would be a good alternative. Honestly, my running shoes have thinner, harder insoles. I am currently looking for new insoles. I am not giving up yet. I will post another review if I find a solution.

Have been wearing many brands of work boots for 50 years--- these are the best yet.

I'm ready for a new pair after wearing these boots almost every day for four years. I would characterize the use as general farm boots in dry/wet northern CA, but with a lot of construction involved. They are oversized and I went one size lower on the advice of my son, who is a fan also. There is a generous amount of space in the toe box, ideal for someone with Morton's toe (look it up). There was no break-in involved, I never got blisters or soreness when they were new. Even with the tread worn off the bottom they have not been slippery on wet concrete or roofing. The quality of the leather is outstanding and I am pleased they are USA-made.

Excellent work boot. Others have said in their reviews, as with most work boots, when you first get them the leather is a bit stiff and can be uncomfortable. But rubbing a decent amount of mink oil into the boots made all the difference in the world. And with only one application. Applying a generous amount around the seams will also add to the already offered waterproof feature. I will say that even after being broken in and softened up I would still recommend buying some high quality boot socks. They're a bit expensive but the blisters it saves you from your foot sliding around makes it well worth the extra cash spent. The flat rubber soles give you the feeling of wearing tennis shoes. Or close to it. Very comfortable boot. I've only had them a couple months but to date, if they continue to stand the test of time in my opinion they're worth every penny. You get what you pay for and these boots are easily worth their price. And made in USA. That may sound trivial but you just don't see that very often these days.

Horrible sizing. The overall quality of the boot itself is GREAT. I loved the style and materials. However, the sizing on these boots are the oddest I've ever encountered in footwear in 40 years. I usually wear a 9 1/2. I started with a 9D, and that was way too big in size but the width was good. I returned them and ordered an 8.5D. The length was good but they were narrow to the point where I felt discomfort after fewer than 10 steps. I returned those for an 8.5EE. The width was great but the length was too long again. These were all tried on with a fairly stout boot sock. I wanted these to work, but the oddity in sizing just wasn't meant to work with my flippers. After tying up close to $600 trying to make these work, I've given up on them and will find another pair of work boots.

Felt rough at first, but once I broke them in they feel great. Excellent quality!!

This is by far the best boot ever made . So of course they stopped making them. I work boots as hard as can be and these last a long time. They are comfortable as well. I hate it when manufacturers dis continue a best seller. Makes no sense. Notice here that you can only get a few sizes . Must be whats left over.

I wear a size 14 in Vans and most other sneakers. These I had to get in a 12 and they’re perfect. I’m still breaking them in, but with each day they get more form fitted and comfortable. I imagine in another few weeks they’ll be my go to boots. My only real complaint is the hook eyelets, in general I’m not a fan of those and the laces are terrible. They are constantly coming untied and have zero grip. I will likely replace them with some Red Wing laces. None of these gripes are worth docking the boots for overall quality and price.

My husband loves these boots for work. Always gets the same pair and sizes down by a 1/2.

3rd time's a charm! I bought these for my husband after reading a ton of reviews. He's typically a 9.5 medium width and I initially ordered a 9D based on reviews here and elsewhere. Unfortunately, they were still way too big. We exchanged for an 8.5D, which ended up being too narrow. In a last ditch effort, we tried the 8.5 EE and they fit perfectly! The sizing for these is kinda wacky, so you may need to try a few before getting the right fit. That said, they're extremely well made and, according to my husband, very comfortable!

I work in residential remodeling. I support any boot company that chooses to build their product in the U.S. As others before me have said, they aren't the most comfortable out of the box. Few quality work boots are. I conditioned mine and took a walk around the block. After a very short distance, the tight spots began to form to my foot. I love the soft strike of the Max Wedge sole, and it seems to have good grip even in wet conditions. I know these boots will last, and I strongly endorse Thorogood for making a quality, hand-built boot.

I bought a pair of these about 3 yrs ago and have to say they have held up very well and are very comfortable. I wear them all year round while working outdoors.

I work two jobs, both on my feet and physical. I used to change shoes between jobs due to fatigue in my feet, knees, and back. I’ve been wearing these boots straight through the day 8am-10pm lots of walking, standing, climbing ladders etc. and these boots are comfortable to all day.

I am in the construction industry and a wearer of boots daily. Being a red wing iron ranger wearer for the last 2 years I was hesitant to stray from the brand. However I was told by other employees that these Thorogood boots were super comfortable for long daily use. They do not disappoint, the leather is extremely soft and broken in before the first wear and the wedge sole allow me to be on my feet for many hours without fatigue. The toe is a strong reenforced leather that provides excellent protection. Very impressed that only after a week these boots have molded to my feet with very little soreness or uncomfortable pain. Using mink oil and good maintenance I believe these boots can last for years. I order a size down due to other reviews and research. I would say they fit great, maybe only a half size down would have been fine but a few days of stretching the width and they fit like a true work boot should. Very pleased with my purchase.

After reading other reviews of this boot, I noticed that folks said that the size runs a bit large. Some people were ordering a size smaller and saying that they were glad they did. I normally wear a size 11. I work a good 9-10 hours on my feet in construction on hard surfaces all day. That being said, I wear additional insoles to absorb the bashin my feet take. Not fancy prescription insoles, just ones ya get at the pharmacy. So, I thought a size 11 D plus my insoles would be fine. Nah. Too tight unfortunately. I called Zappos that day and asked to return them for a size 11.5 EE. They showed up the next day, before I even got the chance to return the 11 D's! I've now worn my size 11.5's for a week and they are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. When I got em, I greazed them up real good and there has been no break-in pains or blisters. The leather is beautiful while still being super durable and high quality. American made for American workers...I know I made the right choice. Thank you Thorogood and big props to Zappos!

Excellent boots!! You can't beat the feel of real leather, and these are American made. I wear special insoles due to foot conditions, and these are very comfortable. They seem to run large, so I ordered mine 1/2 size smaller than what I normally wear (12). I'd recommend these to anyone who wants a nice work boot.

one of the best pairs of boots i have ever owned. they took a couple of weeks to break in, but now they are incredibly comfortable and really help with knee pain from working on my feet all day. the leather is super soft and the soles are nice and pliable.

Great boots. I've only had them a few weeks but it seems like they'll last. They feel overbuilt and tough but are still comfortable. I started with my usual size of 13 but they were too big so I sent them back and got the 12 which is perfect.

I bought these for my work boots. I am on construction sites all day everyday. The leather is perfect and cleans up easily. The comfort is amazing! They do run fairly big. I got a half size smaller than normal and I should have gone a full size. I will for sure but another pair of these ever give out on me.

I bought these boots a year ago, and have worn them every, I mean every day, all day since. I work as a motorcycle technician on my feet most of the day. I abuse them hard, and they have held up better than great. The craftsmanship and comfort is unmatched. Take them out of the box put them on and wow in wonderment. After a year the only thing I can say is they are ready for a new sole. If you are thinking of purchasing new boots look no further than these. Buy them. You will not regret it! I wish they had them in all black, I would buy another pair.
