So this is a weird review for me, because I'd only give them 3 stars, and yet I kept them. I bought these in black. PROS: Ridiculously comfortable. I put them on and was like What! These have heels? Oh yeah, they do. Wearing these, I felt like I could sprint after both criminals and doughnut carts alike. (Important qualities to have in a boot.) The description says "generously cushioned footbed," and I totally agree that this is true. They also looked great. I tried these and another pair of black booties, took pics of each, and asked my friends which one I should keep: most picked this pair. I had to agree. I could see it, too. The tapered heel, the way the straps are angled, the shaft height, and the subtle shine of the leather all come together for a flattering effect. But wait, there's more: it wasn't advertised, but these came with a tag that indicated that they had been treated with Scotchgard -- it showed the Scotchgard logo and said "Anti Liquid Treatment." Not sure if that means they're waterproof or just water resistant, but it was nice to know I could wear them out of the box into snow or rain without worrying about it. I wanted boots that were functional as well as attractive. CONS: These are NOT all made in Spain! I found this out because I had to order both the 38 as well as the 39 to figure out which size I needed. To my great surprise, the 38s were made in Spain, whereas the 39s were made in China! (The country of manufacture was clearly stamped on the inside of each boot.) Not only that, but you could really tell the difference. The ones made in Spain felt sturdier and better made. There were little details that were off about the ones made in China, like the length of the skinny leather strap that is wound multiple times around the wider leather strap and ends in the metal embellishment that says "Pikolinos" -- the length of that strap was way too long on the right boot, so that the metal embellishment was dangling a good inch lower than it should've been. And there were other differences, too. The leather on the ones from Spain had a very visible red edging to them, the stitches on the "belt" portion also had a noticeable red tone, and the stitching on the body of the boot was contrast stitching: light colored stitching against a black boot. You can see this if you look at the picture in this Zappos listing for the black boot (the grey boot also shows the red edging very clearly). All of these details were different in the boot from China: the leather did not have that visible red edging to them, the stitches on the belt were a deep violet, so that they blended in better with the black leather, and they did not have contrast stitching on the body of the boot at all -- they used dark stitches there. I actually preferred the look of the ones made in China, but I was bothered by all the differences as well as the fact that I thought I was getting a boot made in Spain. What about all the differences in craftsmanship that I couldn't see? Would both pairs hold up equally well over time? I felt pretty misled. Not only that, but the heel is NOT a true stacked heel: it is some kind of hollow-sounding material that is covered in a smooth laminate veneer that is printed to look like a stacked heel. Fake. Convincing enough that from a distance, most can't tell. But up close, it's obvious. Because of the fact that the heel is tapered and smooth to the touch, it's annoying to take off: you have to grip the heel REALLY tightly when removing the boot, otherwise your hand just slides right off! Turns out that smooth + tapered is a bad combo when it comes to making the boot easy to remove. In the end, the pros outweighed the cons for me, so I kept them (the pair from China). They were just too comfortable and flattering for me to return. But caveat emptor regarding the country of manufacture. That was a serious strike against Pikolinos for me. I'm not sure if I'd buy from them again. One last note: I normally wear an 8, but their 38s (7.5-8) were much too tight, whereas their 39s (8.5-9) were definitely the preferred fit. I have tried on other Pikolinos for which 38s were the right fit (Brujas), so the Verona seems to run small (or the Brujas runs large? not sure which) -- you may want to buy a slightly larger size.

Just a comment. These are REAL LEATHER! Some reviewers seem to be under the impression these are synthetic. Vegetable tanned leather is NOT vegan or vegetarian friendly. Tanning refers to using the tannins from rotting vegetable matter, like tree bark, to TAN the leather, and make it soft, color it, and preserve it. I love Pikolinos shoes.

I am a senior (but do not like to dress like one). I loved the fact that the bootie was leather inside and out. The heel is a good height yet very stylish. I will pay the price for a good boot or shoe if it is comfortable and well made. Order these and enjoy.

I bought these in the Zafiro color and sent them right back because they are GREEN! Seriously green. Super comfortable and cute, but green. Did I mention they were green?

These run smaller than the sizing chart. I usually wear an 11, or occasionally a 10.5. I followed the sizing chart and ordered a 41. It was about a 1/2 size too small. Then ordered a 42 in rioja and it fits well, just a smidge snug but not uncomfortable. Keeping them, but I wish there was a 43 offered. The sole is very comfy and they are very cute. The rioja color is a very muted red bordering on brown color. The synthetic leather is supple and feels like the real thing. I am tempted to order the zafiro color too just to be different.

Got these today and couldn't wait to try them. Oh My how sweet they are, I am walking around house with sweats and forgetting they are boots, they feel fabulous. I have a wide foot with high arch and high in step and they feel comfortable though I am wearing a nylon knee high to stretch them a bit. Have a pair of Pikolinos shoes I bought when we lived in Europe was so happy to finally find a place to purchase the boots at a reasonable price.

Fabulous boots, fit perfectly, good heel height. Fyi, the color is greenish/gray and not blackish/gray as appears in photo.

These are so cute and so well made...and so definitely not 11.5-12. These are maybe 11.5. I really wish this whole brand had shoes one more size up. Sigh!

Love these boots! Backstory: I have plantar fasciitis and have not been able to walk in anything but sneakers for years. I never thought that I could ever wear anything stylish again. I saw these Pikolinos boots and had to have them. They are fantastic! I can walk on concrete. I can grocery shop in these. I can do whatever and I don't even need extra insoles! Boots are true to size. The arch support is great. Could not be happier. Buy these! Worth the price.

I love this boot, it is comfortable cute and the reddish color is perfection. If you have a high arch, it is perfect as well as perfect for a little wider foot.

Such comfortable, stylish boots! I love these. The heal is the perfect height to be comfortable, yet very attractive. The sizing is perfect. I ordered 2 different sizes and several colors to see what fit best and what color I liked best. Sizing was easy. I wear a 7 1/2 normally. The 38 was right on. Color was a challenge. I love all of the colors and would be happy to own any of them. I chose to keep the garnet, since I have multiple pairs of black boots, and other than black, these seemed most versatile for my wardrobe. The grey would have been my second pic as they are so cute with jeans. I had also ordered the Peach and the Olmo. Honestly I would love to have any of these. If I didn't already have multiple black boots, I think the black are stunning!

I am a fan of stylish but comfortable boots, have several favorites but these are the best I've ever owned. Like wearing butter! And so goodlooking. Worth every penny.

I love these boots! They are absolutely gorgeous and I get lots of compliments. They are very comfortable - I can wear them all day and be on my feet a lot and end the day without pain. I have narrow feet and they fit well - not sure they would work for wide feet. I also have very long feet and narrow ankles and calves and searched for a while to find a short boot that didn't leave my ankle swimming. This was the one!

Most comfortable boots I've ever worn. Significantly more comfortable than even my Frye's. It was an added bonus that these were on sale, too. The grey is a great color, and the heel height is perfect for walking around NYC. I walked 3 miles in them today (2nd time wearing them), and I didn't even think about my feet all day. You can wear these with skinny jeans or with boot cut. Nice and flexible.

I'm sitting here in my robe wearing these boots--I don't want to take them off! Seriously, I have chubby short legs and have avoided booties for many years now. I finally decided to try some and I'm so happy I did! These are incredibly comfortable for someone with a bad back & knees, and they don't make my legs look cut off. Very good styling, very comfortable, very versatile boots because I've already made several outfits with them. One thing to note: the photos don't quite show how 'antiqued' the leather is. I can't say it's a detraction, unless you're someone who really doesn't care for that appearance, so be cognizant if choosing the Rioja color that it will have that look to it. I'm wearing them out today!

I love these boots! They are really comfortable and the heel height is just right. They look great with leggings and pants. I have a high arch so I did add an insole but very comfortable.

I'm PICKY. That said-just buy these! Well made. Good zippers and stitching, no chafing issues. My feet are wider and my in-step is extremely high, my legs and ankles appear to be standard issue. Boots fit me great (skinny boot sock? order up 1/2 size. Nylons keep to same size. These are GREAT little boots. Love the gray-would buy every color. (the wrap around is attached-no loose areas. Happy Feet-Happy Life! Enjoy.

I tried 2 pair on in this brand (my 1st time with this brand) and I liked this style the best! I found these extremely comfortable. They may run a little small but not bothersome enough to exchange. Highly recommended!

Usually I would not spend this much money on a pair of boots but these are really cool boots that are very stylish and well made. The reddish brown leather is high quality and beautiful.

Amazingly beautiful shoe. Well crafted and fashion forward. Both old and new at the same. The size was a little small. Had to return them for the next size up. Had the replacement shoes in a couple of days. No problem. Great support and comfortable. I'll be buying more shoes by Pikolinos.

These are beautiful! The Cuervo is a great brown color. I wear a size 10 and the 42 was perfect, which means these run small and you need to size up. I am glad I read many reviews suggesting to size up because I avoided returns.

These boots are absolutely fabulous! I bought a pair, then my 16 y.o. daughter decided she needed a pair, as well! They cross the spectrum of ages because they are so adorable and still comfortable. I highly recommend. As always, Zappos rocks. Best customer service on the planet!

Never so sure about buying online. Thought these in the brown were cute and gave them a try. Love! The coloring is nice and they are comfortable. I got the 7.5-8 size as I usually wear an 8. I would get the 8.5-9 if you wear an 8. They are a little snug and I won't be able to wear thicker socks but I'm ok with that.
