I wanted to like these boots. I really did. I love the look of them and I read all of the great reviews. But they hurt and bruised the bone above my ankle. I saw another woman on the trail with the same boots and the same complaint. I had to wrap and pad the area around my ankle for any comfort. After wearing the boots a few times, they stretched so much I needed more than a couple of pairs of socks for a good fit. Just too much work. They went back.

I have very narrow feet - 4A with a 6A heel. With thick-ish socks, the 8N fits my larger foot perfectly and the smaller will do fine with a superfeet orthotic. No breaking in needed. For my high arches, the arch support was insufficient, but superfeet inserts take care of that.

For me all of the reviews both good and bad are correct. The first day I wore them I noticed a slight pain around the top of my ankle, but by day two I never noticed it again. I also noticed a review or two that mentioned a pain near their little toe. I noticed that as well but only on one boot. I do not know if I have become used to it or the boots finally broke in, but they are now some of the most comfortable boots that I have. I do wish the insole was little better, but that is just me nitpicking.

I used this shoe as a winter boot rather than a hiking boot. Great traction, laces keep opening, which is a slight bother, but worth the overall sturdy feel of the shoe. In one month, the shoe does feel slightly larger than first wearing. No pressure points on my feet. I do not mind the heavy stiff fit, especially when walking on icy streets.

Vasque makes great boots for hiking. I wore them for a full day to break them in and they felt like a slippers by the time I took them off. I have worn them a few times since and still really like them. The big test will be in the mountains of Colorado on an elk hunt! My orthotics also fit in the foot beds just fine.

I bought this boot and have worn it for the last few days without any issues. I disagree with the first reviewer because the comfort is great, fit is roomy in the toe, but perfect. I changed the factory insole with the super feet carbon insole, which made the fit more personal. I recommend that anyone go to a premium retailer and get their feet measures as I did. My size had changed and I would of bought the incorrect size, and most likely had issues. I think the quality is very good compared to other products.

These have held up in all kinds of weather and remain my go to footware for all travel.. warm weather, cold and rainy. I do think nik wax makes a difference for waterproofing. Love these, especially the wide with option.

I have a hard time buying hiking boots. We hike hundreds of miles a year in all weather and terrain. I have worn Merrells for years and the quality is just not there anymore. Plus my feet are wide. I tried these boots and have been so pleased with them. Great width for wide feet. Started with a large hike and no break in time! Love these boots.

I love this boot. Sadly I am a 10 narrow and it is just a wee bit to short. If there were any 10.5 narrows available I would order it in a minute. Sadly, I must return and continue the hunt.

Comfortable shoe. I ordered the narrow which felt true to size. Just a bit short so I would go up half a size.

I had to get these in a wide. I felt they ran narrow.
I was told they would wear and conform to my feeet. This was so true!
I keep the laces relatively looked since I was told they should fit more like slippers. (Isn't that a great suggestion to how they should feel?)
I got these for a trip to South Africa when I visited The Bush. I have since worn them hiking, in water, to and from skiing. I love them. I am sure, because I rarely ware them, they will last for years & years.

The wide width boot is really comfortable for my very wide, bunyon-y feet. I put some high arch insoles in them, and they still fit well with a good amount of room in the toes. I was worried about my ankles rubbing on the outside, but with tall socks they are very comfortable and conform to my ankle. Easy to get on and off and to lace up. A good looking, sturdy hiking boot.

Even though these boots are a narrow, they are still too wide for my narrow feet, especially in the heel. The toe box is also too big.

This is my 3rd pair of Vasque St. Elias GTX so I think that says a lot!

Ordered a wide, because my foot is wide and it was too wide. And the boots are very brown -- too brown. Otherwise comfortable -- I've had Vasque before and I tend to prefer them. But I am returning the boots due to the color and width.

Not sure why, but the d width did not feel wider and still had concern that on left side of left foot would rub when going downhill as much as issue with B width. It was not a bulky boot compared with Breeze, so I like it better. Really wanted this won to work, but not confident enough would not rub, and I loved my old Vasques.

Nice looking boots but I ordered a wide (usually buy "normal" width) and they were still too narrow in the toe area box. Disappointing because I loved everything else about them.

One of the reasons buying hiking boots is so difficult, is that you never really know how they fit until you take that first arduous hike. I went on my first real hike, and I can't imagine anything more uncomfortable than what happens right around the little toe area. It's as if three hard plates come together covered by a thin fabric. Blisters galore. I've put on 4 layers of moleskin on the upper by the toe area, and it's barely tolerable. I threw away the box, so they are mine. Ugh...

I tried the 10 Narrow (usually I am a 9.5-10 Narrow) and my toes were very cramped at the front of the shoe to the point of being sore just walking around the house.
The color is also not accurate at all -- it's much of a cool "putty" brown than the warm cognac color in the image.

Extremely uncomfortable! Would like to give -10 for comfort! Stiff doesn't even begin to describe these boots. I am 8.5 N, which I ordered. These felt whole size smaller.
