I had the same issue as Projectpro talked about earlier. The sole of the shoe is only glued to the rubber sole. As a result in two months it disconnected. I also expect better from Rockport. I am used to the brand providing quality products and this boot was a major disappointment.

These shoes look good and are comfortable but the construction quality is very poor. The leather upper is glued to the sole and has already separated after just five weeks of wear. I expected better from Rockport.

The Rockport Rugged Bucks Waterproof Boot is a stylish boot and fairly comfortable. I would give it five stars overall if the soft sole wasn't wearing out so quickly! I have Supination of the feet and so my weight is placed on the outside of the foot while walking. I noticed that after only two days the soles are wearing very rapidly. Two days! I am not obese or heavy and I have several other boots I've had for years that show less wear on the soles than these do already, so it is definitely an inferior soft sole. Not sure if I'll keep them or not.

Good shoe overall. Very comfortable and hardly no break in needed. Plus, having the waterproofing is essential and makes the shoe that much better. Haven't had the sole/glue issue that other reviewers are having (have had them for about 2 months and have worn them frequently). However, they do scratch easily and start to look worn almost immediately. Also, the shoelaces broke pretty quickly, so I'd recommend buying an extra set.

Overal, this is a good shoe for my needs. Each day, I walk 2 miles over stony terrain beside a railroad track on my way to the office. So, I need sturdy, stylish shoes. So, far I put 18 miles on these and they are performing very well. There’s no sign of breakdown in the construction as reported in early posts. So, I’m satisfied that any manufacturing defects have been addressed. I chose this shoe, because the lacing location on the hiking shoes and sneakers that I tried caused a “mashing pain” across the top of my feet. (Loosening the laces caused the foot slide around in the shoe and my toes to run up against the front of the shoe.) So, I decided to try a Chukka boot, because it fastens around the ankle and anchors the foot against the back of the shoe. Also, since the lacing starts further back, there’s no more pressure across the top of the front part of my feet. I haven’t had any trouble wth my feet overheating in the 80 degree heat. I replaced the footbed with a worn-out pair of orthotics that are scheduled for replacement. So, I can’t comment on cushioning. As you can see from the photos, they do pick up a bit of trail dust on my route. So, I need to dust them regularly.

Excellent - 21 yo son just returned from 4 months study abroad. I pulled these out of his suitcase and he said that he wore them daily - on the cobblestone sidewalks of Copenhagen and on the many many weekend European trips. He said he hiked everywhere in these - many hills - and loved these due to comfort, durability and warmth. A+ (I had read reviews about the sole disconnecting, but for us, it absolutely did not - and he wore these in all weather and came back solid. The only thing that broke was 1 shoelace that I will replace!)

I have a EEE wide foot and typically a EE won't fit but these were just fine even with thicker socks.

Have had them one week. Comfortable out of the box. The right width in the right place for my feet. The sole is sturdy but thinner than a hiking shoe (as it should be for this type) although I prefer thicker due to my rocky surroundings. I love the style but that is highly personal, isn't it? One of my students asked me if I was wearing Timberlands. I've already bought a second pair based on comfort. I hope they last (no pun intended).

I bought these boots in size 13 wide and they ran true to size. Based on the price, description, and others' reviews, I regard them primarily as city shoes for pushing through light snow, mud, and medium-heavy rain. In terms of style, they sit somewhere between construction-worker-style boots and casual oxfords, but because they are black, they are kind of suitable for most occasions, and I think they go with brown pants, denim pants, gray pants, navy pants, and (of course) black pants. They are definitely not glossy, and I would not recommend wearing them for actual construction work, real hiking, or if you live in the woods. They are definitely city boots. I think other people have said that they scuff easily, but I think that's actually a symptom of the waterproofing process, as most waterproof shoes and boots seem to scuff easily. I just kind of go with the scuffing and don't worry about it too much. My own pair has held together well and is highly waterproof and quite warm. They feel good to walk in as well. Honestly, my biggest complaint about them so far is that the outer lip of the sole extends just a tab beyond the upper and, after walking through puddles, they collected a resin of dry mud that's hard to get off. Overall, a good, waterproof boot for everyday life in the city.

I wear a 12 wide - Zappos recommended an 11, but the 12 is accurate. They took barely any time to break in, hopefully that doesn't mean they'll wear apart quickly. I ordered a Boston Tan which doesn't match the product picture. They're much lighter in color than the picture shows. Would have preferred a darker shade.

I bought these for my boyfriend and he loves them, this is his second pair. He wears them every day and never complained about them until two weeks ago when he said they were starting to feel uncomfortable from being worn down. I included a photo to show the difference. Great pair of shoes, I imagine we’ll be buying these again later on.

Took a chance and ordered my size and these chukkas fit nice. Good everyday style with jeans and comfortable all day. Some difficultly lacing them up, but they are mid boots. Very happy.

I bought these to replace another pair of Rockport boots that are getting worn, so I ordered the same size and they fit perfectly. They just arrived a week ago and they have been comfortable from the start. No problem so far. I find the top of the boot hugging my ankle to be slightly less than comfortable, but certainly not bad for a high top boot.

I bought these after a friend recommended them. They are sturdy and comfortable.I also like that the leather doesnt have a shiny 'New Shoe" look. They look rugged out of the box. Looks great with jeans. My new favorite shoe! Also a bonus that they're waterproof!

Very happy with these- at first I felt the rim might be rubbing my ankle too much, but I wore them new on 6 miles of off-road hiking- no rubbing, perfectly comfortable. I got the wide fit, which was plenty of space for my toes. No pinching anywhere, rugged and basic.

This review is for the Rockport Rugged Bucks Waterproof boot. These are lightweight, stylish boots that serve their purpose well. They are not work boots, or rugged hiking boots, but they're fine for casual wear, or possibly light treking. For me, the foot bed has plenty of support by itself, but I wanted a softer ride and added a soft Dr. Scholl's pad, which helped. The break in period was brief, but necessary before extended use. Not the most comfortable boot I've ever worn, but not UNcomfortable, either. I'm not thrilled with them, but they do fill a niche for me well enough.

Very stylish, however difficult to put on if you have a high arch or wide foot. Ordered a 7W, which was true to size, but had difficulty getting the boot on due to a high arch.
