I initially regretted purchasing these and assumed I would be returning. Here in Cleveland I don't have the luxury of wearing winter boots that aren't practical/functional. However I immediately fell in love with them as soon as I put them on. I have gotten many compliments. Not only do they look and feel great, they are also good in the foul weather. Don't let the wedge fool you - they are very comfortable to wear all day and have great traction. For everyday errand-running in cold, wet, snowy, slushy weather they are perfect. I wore these to a ski trip in Colorado and they were very easy to slip on and off in the security lines. I had to stand in foot high snow drifts to clean my car off in a parking lot and the boot remained warm and waterproof. I wouldn't go sledding in them, but you get the point. Size-wise I found they are a little roomy. Usually a size 9 would be perfect or borderline-tight on me but a 9 in these still have some wiggle room. As for care, I called Sorel and was told they are already waterproof out of the box but that they should be waterproofed again each season.

Holy cow! These boots rock! I'm an at home mom of two young kids looking for stylish but practical shoes. Like another reviewer, I hadn't really thought I'd love the height (was thinking I'd break my ankle at the playground). However, these are so incredibly comfortable even for my slightly wider than average tootsies. And let me say, a good shoe, let alone great looking one, is very hard to find when the toes need more space. I'm a big fan of all-weather fashion boots, so that alone made it worth the investment. Thank you Sorel!

Note to shoemakers: This is what women want. A bit of style, but a winter workhorse. I wish they made a pointy-toe version of this boot to give it a bit of sex appeal. But whatever. These elongate my legs, yet let me plow through the snow like I'm wearing a hiking boot. They are wide, but that's if you wear them without winter socks. With socks, they fit as expected. I'm thinking of getting these now in the full length boot and shoe boot. I've walked everywhere in these boots...no breaking in required. Sorel, I want lots of versions of winter wedges from your company -- to wear with everything from pencil skirts to velvet trousers...and jeans, of course.

I purchased these boots because I wanted a stylish boot for rain and snow. They are a well made in a gorgeous leather...that I hope will even look better with age. They are super comfortable so you can easily wear them all day. The first day I wore them I received several compliments and many people wanted to know where I got them. I wear a size 11 and they fit perfectly and don't look too manish. I love these boots.

I could not figure out from the so many reviews that I have read what size to order in these boots. I wear size 7 in regular boots, 7.5 boots with thick socks. The comments from other people were vague and hard to understand what size to order since everybody were saying order smaller size. NO, NO, NO. Order your normal size boots and then you will have room for even thick socks to wear in these boots. from what I understood I had to order a half a size less than what I wear, but that was a huge mistake. So do not up size and do not downsize. Order your regular boot size and there will be space for that thick sock as well if you want to wear it. :)

I've been stalking websites for these for about 2 weeks, having recently discovered these were sold out everywhere in my size. I had also signed up for the 'notify me' emails at various sites. It was a day after Christmas miracle when I found these on Zappos and ordered them immediately (had not even gotten the 'notify me' email yet). From reading a lot of other reviews I knew I needed to size down and they are perfect. I normally wear 7.5 or 8 in most shoes, always a 7 in Frye boots, typically an 8 in Sorel boots, and size 7 in these is perfect. This is my 4th pair of Sorel boots (actually my 5th pair but I sold a pair on eBay) and these have the best fit of them all (the Tofino is a close 2nd). I typically add an insole for better arch support in all my Sorels but I don't think that will be needed with these, due to the wedge heel (my other pairs are flat). I got the Grill/Black and they are darker than I expected (based on the images from the Sorel website) but the Zappos images are spot on. This is the 1st time I have paid full price for a pair of Sorels (typically I wait to get them on sale in the off season) and these are worth every penny. If you see them in the size you need (remember to size down), get them!

These boots not only look great with leggings or jeans but have major function that you can expect from Sorels. I wore these through thick wet red Arizona mud, I stayed dry and was able to grip the ground without sliding. The best part is that they came completely clean and look better with age. They are sweet boots.

Style, functionality and comfort; who would have thought it could all exist in one boot. I was drawn to these after seeing them in a magazine and I waited a few months to finally buy them since they are on the pricey side. So far (three weeks of wear) they are totally worth it. They are durable and I can wear them through almost anything. I am a mom to a one year old and three year old and I needed something comfortable enough to chase them in. The wedge is really well constructed and I wear these all day without any discomfort. I wear a pair of ski socks with them and my toes never get cold. (I Wore them when it was 20° out, no problem.) The size is accurate. I wear a 7½ US and my feet are a bit wide. These are perfect even with my heavier socks.

These are the perfect boots. So stylish; I get compliments on them all the time! I wore them in Park City and my friends couldn't believe they were waterproof. They kept telling me they would be ruined the next day, but as Zappos promised, they handled the wet snow with ease! The traction was amazing as well; I wasn't slipping on the ice and felt confident walking in them, even with the wedge! Lastly, they are really comfortable. The removable insole has a lot of cushion and makes for happy feet. I'm buying them in the other colors as soon as they become available in my size. I will add that I went with the online recommendations and got a half size smaller; they fit perfectly. Make sure to go down a half size. This was a great purchase and worth every penny!

I'm normally a Frye or Ariat girl and purchased these on a whim completely convinced I would be returning them. No way! Back for my second pair. Thanks to all the reviewers-- such a huge help. I am a solid, complete 100% 10 with a slightly wider foot. But I purchashed the 9.5 and they fit perfectly. And I took a chance on the first day wearing them in Boston all day. Cobblestones, stairs, snow. I usually have sore feet and a bad back. Nothing! Nothing! I was amazed! Perfect perfect perfect in every way. I'm a Sorel fan for sure! No hype ladies! These boots are the real deal!

These boots are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I seriously think I could play a game of basketball wearing these gorgeous boots. I did size down 1/2 size and they are perfect.

I didn't think that all these reviews could be true and I was ready to be let down, but these boots are wonderful. I have yet to wear them in snow, but in rain, they were very comfortable and not slippery thanks to the great soles. I do need to wear thick socks on my narrow feet to keep my feet from slipping inside. I normally wear a 7.5 and the 7 fit well in the length. As for the color, I am happy I got the brown. The all-black looked a bit too much like a combat boot, in my opinion.

Really hesitated on the color, (got the brown) cause the picture of the toe looks almost black, it's brown, it matches and doesn't look weird. The boots are terrific, very comfortable and stylish, and have tread so you're not slipping across the snow. They remind me of old snow ski boots (dating myself) but even for a 50+ these are very cool.

I ordered both the MID and the LTR Joan of Arctic Wedge. The size difference between them is substantial. I typically wear a 9 or 9.5, but my experience with Sorel's in the past has led me to know that I have to go down to a size 8.5 in their boots. I ordered both the LTR and the MID in 8.5 and the LTR felt great, even has a little extra wiggle room which will be great for thick socks. The MID, however, was too small, my foot fit in it - but just barely. Too snug for comfort and definitely too small for socks. Also - I interestingly found the LTR to be substantially more comfortable in the sole.

All the hype is true--these boots are amazing. Here's my long story short--I'm an overweight restaurant manager who hasn't worn a wedge or heel in years, and I can stand and work in these bad boys all day! I've work birkenstocks and alegrias for years, and really can't believe i have a cute wedge work boot now. These boots are so very well made; if you're wondering whether or not the price is fair--YES. They look and feel like they will last forever. They are warm without being hot, and a simple double knot will keep those coated round laces tied all day.

These are literally the cutest, most comfortable boots (let alone shoes) of all time! I bought the first pair last season and fell in love. And though a bit pricey, immediately bought a second pair a few weeks later, in a different color. While my first two pair were worn nearly daily last winter they are still in amazing shape. But this season, I will buy my third and fourth pairs for additional color options (and they now come in a tall style Cate the Great). Now, before you judge me for being excessive, let me explain. I have horrible foot problems after shattering my ankle into 12 pieces over 10 years ago. Several surgeries and many years later, it is still a major issue, but with the right shoes, I get by ok. Danskos have become my best friend. So far, they have not made anything winter worthy in terms of the sole, tread, waterproofing, etc. So I turned to Sorel for that. The Joan of Arctic caught my eye from the start. Not, not only are the cutest shoe ever, but also work wonders for my bad foot and, repel the rain (I live in Seattle) like a boss! I have literally submerged myself in puddles in these things and not gotten wet. Like other reviewers have stated, do not let the wedge fool you. The tread, comfort, and practicality on these things are incredible.

The best customer service. Have ever experienced. I purchased some boots for my wife's birthday-unfortunately they were the wrong size. My wife returned them for a different size (and mentioned it was for her birthday present). They sent the new size overnight AND sent her a dozen roses for her Birthday. Very cool.

I love these boots, they get a ton of compliments, I over the weathered look and the durability. The few nicks I've gotten in the leather just add to the character. I wear them with insoles for greater comfort, so initially I had trouble finding the right size with added insoles, but the Zappos return policy made it easy. Because the leather is natural, I did exchange a pair because the grain/look of the pair didn't match each other. The boots are very comfortable and wear loose, so don't expect a tight fit at the top of the foot or the ankle. Tie the laces securely because round laces tend to come undone while you're walking.

Normally, inclement weather calls for the wearing of unattractive flat boots, am I right? These Re awesome! They are waterproof, snow proof, and have good traction. I normally wear a 7 in Sorels. After some trial and error, I wear a 6 in this style. At first, the size 6 seemed a little tight, but after one wearing , they fit perfectly. I've worn them in the snow, rain, and they are cute and omfortable enough to wear with leggings out and about. These are my new go to boots. Worth the price.

Cutest and most comfortable boots of all time. They handle rain, mud, and rough terrain like a boss, yet they're cute enough to dress up. The wedge style is to die for. I have serious foot issues (shattered my ankle in 8 places + planters fasciitis + neuropathy). So believe me when I say, an amazing shoe is worth its weight in gold to me. My first time in them felt like a dream and I wore them all day long. I wanted to sleep in them. I bought the Dark Fossil - awesome color. Goes with anything. It's been less than two weeks and I just bought my second pair. I need a lifetime supply of these babies. For real. My only suggestion would be to go 1/2 size smaller than you normally would. Though they fit perfectly true-to-size when I first got them, the leather is so stinkin' soft and luscious that they actually stretched out significantly after just a few wears. In fact, they are too big now, even with thick socks. So for this second pair, I went 1/2 size down and got the Grill/Black. Just got 'em and they fit snug, but not at all too tight. I know they will be perfect after I wear them a couple of hours. Dear Sorel. Please don't ever, ever stop making this boot! I beg of you.

Despite their steep price tag, I relied on the reviews and purchased these boots. We have had some harsh snowy winters here in Chicago and I wanted something both stylish and waterproof. Not an easy find when it comes to boots. I love them! They are super comfortable but do run large. I am an 8 1/2 and sometimes a 9 in boots, but the 8 fits perfect in these. I have a high arch and some issues with plantar fasciitis, an these were super comfy to walk in. They feel as if I am wearing a summer wedge. The toe box is roomy (I am generally a medium width on the wider side). Don't let the price tag scare you away. Season after season of buying boots for around $100 that just didn't feel right or allow me to be on my feet for long wore me out. These are a fantastic boot.

Amazing! Basically my favorite shoe of all time! I bought these for my back packing trip across Europe and I made an amazing choice. They look so cute with even the girliest outfits including dresses. They were great for support non slip (my husband slipped a few times) great for the rainy weather. I had to have walked 12+ hours for 16 days. I live in Hawaii and still wear them all the time for dancing and going out.

I have been looking for a boot that could function LIKE my slip on Ugg mid boots, but would be more stylish and have better grip. I was unsure about the wedge here - I really wanted something super comfortable for running around, but after reading the reviews I took the plunge and am SO glad. I have the grill/black color and think they look GREAT, but more important: they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own right now... and I'm nine months pregnant, so that's saying something. I walk my dog in these, run around town, and they feel awesome, while looking super cute. SO glad I bought them. They do run about half a size big.

Love, love, love, this boot. Incredibly comfortable with excellent arch support. Barely feels like a heel at all! Soft leather. laces allow me to tighten the fit. Feels a touch wide but I do have narrow feet. Plenty of room in the toe box, but the heel is not too wide and does not slip. Will accommodate a serious winter sock. Compliments received from day one. I should get a commission - I think I've sold at least three friends on these.
