Runs small and tight... if you have a medium width running towards the wide rather than narrow, this probably won't work... coupled with a high instep the seam across the toe makes the shoe too tight. Even tried next size up, but no relief. These shoes are super adorable... really really well made and I so wanted to be able to keep them, but these just aren't uncomfortable for me, they are unwearable... hope they work better for you.

Here's the deal, I'm a guy and I saw these boots and bought them right away (just get a size bigger than you usually get and they do run narrow). This leather is amazing, the shoe is handmade -- it expands, it is comfortable. The guys who make this shoe know what they are doing. I also like to tell my wife I'm wearing a woman's shoe.

I just LOVE these shoes! I ordered two pairs, one my regular size (8.5) and one a 1/2 a size larger. The 8.5 was snug but the 9 was swimming on me. I tried the 8.5 on one more time feeling frustrated because I just loved the style. This time, I stood up and walked around the house and just like really good soft leather, they started to give. Now, just a few weeks later, they are one of the most comfortable pair of shoes in my closet. Just like another reviewer said, they are slippery at first. I walked around on pavement a bit and now they are just fine. Once you get the laces tied to your liking you never have to tie them again. The shoes go on with ease just using the zippers. Let me just say that if the smell of leather turns you off, you might have a hard time with the smell; it's a natural smell, just quite strong at first. They are very well made; a great balance of feminine, masculine and cool; all in all a great quality shoe! Thanks Zappos, you never disappoint!

So, I ordered these in rustic teak sz 8.5 originally and they felt a little tight at first, but softened up really fast and felt good on my foot just walking around my house. I decided I wanted the rustic tan color instead so I sent them back. This is where it gets weird. Since they were sliiiighty longer than all my other boots I decided to order the 8 and the 8.5 in the tan. When I received them both pairs felt extremely tight and uncomfortable. One a little less than the other, but still not comfy. This seemed so strange considering the first 8.5 I ordered was really quite comfortable. I held them up next to each other and they were 100% exactly the same size. I decided to inspect further and discovered that underneath the removable insole both pairs had a sub-insole that read “old west 8,” which led me to believe there was a manufacturing mistake and these two pairs are indeed exactly the same size. I understand there is human error occasionally, but for how expensive these shoes are I would expect quality control to be perfect. I am returning both and have ordered one more pair of 8.5s to compare. Crossing my fingers that they fit, but if not I give up. They are beautiful shoes and the red vibram soles are perfection. I’ve included photos where you can see the intended size on the tongue and the size of the sole underneath the removable insole.

I love these boots, the color and quality. They go with every pair of jeans and I feel good in them. I’ve had for a year and are my favorite fall shoes.

Beautiful comfortable boot - I love this brand! I have narrow feet so the other reviews about width seem correct. These fit perfectly and are stretching nicely. Love the lace up look with convenience of zippers to actually take off and on easily without ever untying - great for travel.

Maybe because these boots are handmade, the sizing is very variable. I got my usual size 9 from Zappos because they didn’t have 9.5. I tried The Bed/Stu website, and they did have 9.5, so I figured I’d try both sizes. Prices were the same. I ordered the same color, Teak Lux. Here’s where it gets interesting. The colors weren’t the same at all. Zappos’ were the color pictured, but BS’s were more like distressed grey. Both were really pretty. But wait: there’s more! The 9.5’s were shorter in length than the 9, and not as deep in the toe box. (I measured.) The 9.5 also had one zipper in the back, the soles 9.5’s soles were plain leather (very slippery), the stitching was different, and there was a (deliberate and interesting) overlap of leather on the heel sole. The 9’s were about 0.25-0.50 inches longer than the 9.5, the toe box was very slightly deeper, there were two zippers (one on each side, but the outside one is nonworking), the color is polished (not distressed) and true to the pic on Zappos, and there’s no overlap of leather on the heels. Also, the leather sole covered in ribbed rubber so that it is not slippery. And the stitching was slightly different. So what does all this mean for the buyer? I think it means you’re taking your chances. The truth is that I’d like to keep both, but they’re really expensive. The only reason I gave them four stars instead of five is because of all these inconsistencies, which makes it hard for buyers to know what size, color, etc., they’re ordering.Still don’t know what I’m going to do. One last thing: they do seem to get more comfy as you wear them. They’re gorgeous boots, worth the money. Good luck.

I so wanted these boots to fit me. I bought one whole size up and the fit seemed about right length-wise, but the room for the toes is very tight (height-wise). It was crushing my big toenail from the top down. I have normal size toes, but I am sensitive to outright pain, and these shoes would be unwearable for me. The only thing I could do is put leather conditioner on them and stretch the toebox area, but as these were expensive, I don't want to take the chance as it might not work. Bummed about these not fitting.

I adore these boots. I wear them all the time with dresses, jeans and for business. Can't say enough about this brand. Very well made.

I had read the reviews before I bought these boots. I did order a size bigger than normal. Glad I did, they are perfect. I highly recommend these boots, they are my favorite!!

I received these yesterday and have worn them two days now. I wear a size 7.5 in all my bed stu boots and that's what I ordered in these. I see a lot of reviews saying they run small but these fit perfect. Not too tight or small at all. They are very nice and modern looking boots and they're so comfortable. No breaking in. Now I want the black pair.

I love Bed Stu but these were for my daughter who felt that the toe box is a little low I (I checked her foot to see if her toes stick up more than others and they do not). The leather is gorgeous, the boot is great looking and the height of the shank is nice for shorter legs.

I’m normally a 9.5 and ordered a 10 (like everyone here recommended) but I could tell they were going to be too big with any amount of stretch once I got them so I returned the 10s for 9.5s, which fit more snugly. I have fairly narrow feet in general and with the 10s laced up as tightly as I could get them, they were still a bit loose and I could feel the heel slipping in the back. The 9.5s were uncomfortably tight at first but after walking around in them for a week with thick socks, they have begun to relax and I’m glad I purchased the smaller size. I’ve had too many pairs of shoes fit great right away and then stretch out too big in the past so I erred on the small side this time and it paid off. Also, as others have remarked, these boots are gorgeous.

These boots are beautiful. I have Frye and La Canadienne boots which are high quality and long lasting . I was worried when these new boots arrived and felt tight. I put them on with a pair of thick socks and walked around the apartment and they already feel better. I’m glad, because if I had to send them back it would be sad! I hope others will try the socks before they return the slightly tight boots. There is more flexibility in the leather than I expected.

Love this shoe (rustic)! The leather is super soft and they are snug at first then stretch nicely within a day or two. I'm having a hard time not wearing these shoes everyday.

The fit Ana size was perfect! I am so in love with this boot. It is so stylish. You could easily dress it up or down. The leather is amazing! This is hands down a good quality boot. I could automatically feel the leather molding to my foot. Very comfy fit. I got the tan pair. Only downfall is I think I love the team rustic a bit more. I may exachange these for the darker color. Otherwise, a excellent boot all around. True to size. And worth every penny!

Love these boots they fit like a glove. This is the 4th pair of Bed Stu boots I've purchased. Can't go wrong with the style or colors.

I adore these half boots. I typically wear a size 6, but I needed a 6.5 in this brand. The leather is amazing and so is the craftsmanship. The are pricey, but it shows in the quality. This was my first Bed Stu purchase and I can see myself owning more shoes from this brand.

The most comfortable boot I have ever owned. I love the rustic black color, it goes with everything. The sole is slippery at first, but just walk around on pavement & that is eliminated. The toe of the boot does not flip up like the image shows. The boot is true to size and I can wear any type of sock.

Awesome boot! Extremely comfortable, although I have a very narrow foot so they fit me GREAT! If you have a wider foot the boot might not fit well or be too comfortable. Overall the style is FABULOUS and HOT! LOVE them. Bed Stu makes great shoes and styles.. I am an urban city chick so fits my style and get tons of compliments...

I am so glad that I got these shoes, I usually wear boots all of Fall and Winter, but I'm a photographer and these shoes are so soft and comfortable, I can move around easily and get all the great shots. They go with everything and I love the distressed look, I like to dress a little edgy at times and these shoes are perfect! Every thing I've bought from Bed Stu has been perfect even sandals and boots are all great! I love this brand so much, I wear them all the time and get so many compliments, I have to tell them what site to buy them because I rarely see them in stores, but I can always count on Zappos for the shoes I love!

I wanted so bad not to like these boots (only because of the price), but I absolutely LOVE them. The bottom is slippery, but other than that they are perfect. Just enough masculine touch. I love the design of having 2 sippers, one on each side, instead of just one on the inside of the boot, I think that can take away from the look. The aged leather look does not look cheesy as with other boots. As other reviewers stated the toe does not round up as in the pic.
