One of my best purchases, in any category, last year. I've used it on at least six trips of all lengths, and am just as happy each time I need it. Beautifully designed in every way: from the interior hidden back section (easily holds my 15" MacBook Pro -- guessing a 17" would be a snap), to the front flap zip (for iPad mini) to the low zip section for cords -- including a matching cord case -- to the interior 'wallet' area with a key clip, someone really gave this bag a lot of intelligent thought. Even with a bit of wear and tear it still looks new. It's balanced and comfortable even when overfull, doesn't bulge, and looks just a bit more elegant than usual. I am a woman, 5'6, 125 lbs, and when I need to use it while on business I don't feel like I look like a lost hiker (or 7th grader). I got the red, and it's slightly more of a brick red than appears in the photo. Very happy. Confirmed Osprey fan. Please give the designer of this one a raise!

I often find myself working through tasks, knitting and reading, or journaling somewhere away from home (pre-covid that would be a coffeehouse, now it's more likely to be a park or my own car), and this is the bag I needed: document sleeves for notebooks and papers, waterbottle holders, an organizer pocket for pens and keys and separate compartments for my wallet and for the cord case I use for everyday carry, all without impingeing on the large main compartment that's perfect for project bags and shopping. I also frequently use it for grocery runs, which I do on foot. The load is close to my back and comfortable even when I have it full of cans and iced tea bottles. It's really ideal, and I hope that if Osprey discontinues it they replace it with something nearly identical.

Best daily-use business-commuter pack I've ever owned. My 15" MacbookPro fits perfectly (perfectly!) in the inside compartment, even with an additional padded sleeve on it. Carry lots of plugs and cords and batteries and accessories in the bottom compartment - though they thud on the floor when I put it down, so they have to be sturdy. After four years of daily use (and I mean absolutely sock it to me every hour of the day, with me everywhere, long hikes, commute on transit, and evening events) its bottom fabric ripped due to my scraping it on the floor every time I put it down, otherwise it's still in perfect shape. (No problems with zippers like other people had.) Sorry to see it on close-out sale here, so buying one more and hoping for another four years of great use. LOVE the lime green interior! (I also had Osprey's smaller "Pixel" for touch-pad and it also was a great pack but not quite enough interior space for me, so I upgraded to the big daddy when it became available.)

I agree with all my fellow bag-obsessives: this seemed perfect when I bought my first one. I had the first version of this bag for three months -- and the zipper failed on the side laptop compartment pocket. The replaced it per guarantee with the update, and I am thrilled to see that now I can access the laptop compartment from inside the bag, without ever messing with the side zipper. Awesome! I have no comment on the quality of these zippers, and will never have to, because I will never use that side zipper again! It's brand new and I trust it will wear like crazy for years. Lack of a water bottle holder was my only quibble with the original design - and now I have two. I am one happy bag-obsessive weirdo now.

This backpack is fantastic if you are looking for something to carry every day. Prior to this I was using a store brand $40 backpack to and from work. I usually carry an iPad Air, phone, wallet, keys, charging cords for everything and a few other daily items. I work twelve hours per day most days and also need to carry lunch and dinner as well as snacks for in between. The biggest problem with the off the shelf bag is that there wasn't much in the way of smaller organized pockets for the little items, just three large pockets and everything was always lost and tangled in the bottom. I tried keeping smaller packing cubes to separate the items but it just became annoying. I've since added a 15 inch MacBook Pro to my daily carry and this bag keeps everything protected and organized. The bright green inner liner makes everything easy to find. I love the small built in bag for all of the cords, charging cables and adapters. The expandable main compartment works great for all of my food containers. Once I get to work and empty it, I just zip the sides back up and slim the bag down again for meetings. Some people complain about the zipper on the bottom pocket but once you figure out that you need to push the pocket under the protective flap it zips perfectly fine. There are enough adjustments on the shoulder straps to make it very comfortable to carry a lot of weight. I feel like it looks professional enough for the office. I picked up the gray color.

Love how much room there is. Spare clothes for the gym, water bottle, lunch - they all fit along with laptop and work docs. Love the bottom pocket for cords. Super convenient side pocket to whip out the laptop at the airport is my favorite feature. I know that there are other packs with a helmet holder but it would be so cool if there was a hidden one on this pack for those of us who like to mix work with play while travelling. Maybe one that can fold out of a little pocket on the front flap? The pack is likely the cleanest looking of the commuter daypacks so I can understand not wanting to mess up the look with a helmet holder but it sure would be nice. I'm not sure what all the zipper comments are about. I think the zippers on this pack are perfectly appropriate, they don't seem cheap to me at all.

I had a previous version of this bag and used it everyday for my bike commute to work. I preferred the stability of the backpack straps over the messenger style bag I previous used. I feel like this pack has a more professional look than many other backpack style laptop bags. After I ripped my original bag in icy bike crash, it was replaced via the All Mighty Warranty with the current rendition (Jan 2017) which has some great improvements... The new bag is larger, which appears that it would hold a 17" notebook without much problem. My 13" MacBook is swimming in the compartment. There is now access to the laptop compartment from the top of the main compartment, along with the side access. I imagine this would be most beneficial to anyone that is concerned they might forget to zip the side entry. At the bottom of the side entry, there is now a bit of webbing to help retain any electronics when the side compartment is opened. The outer organizer pocket is now has a larger zipper opening making it easier to access and find items in this pocket. Another new feature is the stretch pockets on the outside of the bag... perfect for a water bottle or a small thermos of coffee. The one modification I plan to do to the bag is to add a scinch closure to the top of the bag to help keep the bucket opening under the flap. Bottom line, this is a great bag, and it looks like many of the complaints in the previous reviews have been taken into consideration and applied to the updated design.

I was searching for the perfect pack for my daily train commute (1 hr. each way) to school. I recently decided to change career paths, and go back to school at 40. I had pretty specific requirements for a bag. It needed to be comfortable, spacious but not too big, well organized and thought out, durable, and look great! The Pixel was the only bag out of dozens that I tried that fit the bill! For my needs, and what I was going for, the Pixel was the perfect pack! Ignore the negative comments about the side access for the laptop. That's a killer feature, not a detriment. This was my first Osprey pack, but it definitely won't be my last!

Had many many bags before, from high-end designer bags to recently outdoor recreational gears (introduced by fiance). A city gal who fell in love with this bag. Fits my petite body frame exceptionally and surprisingly well. A lot LESS back pain and fatigue after using this bag from hauling around my 15lbs + of textbooks, notebooks, laptop, water bottles, food, and pen/pencils. The separate and well-designed compartments within the bag is a plus. Easily can organize and find my pens or whatever I'm looking for even in the dark. Items stay put. Well secured. The design of the bag is gender neutral, sleek and doesn't offend the wearer's shape.

As a professional guide (6'1", 170 lb.), I have an intimate relationship with my gear, and my standards for performance are high. I don't tolerate poor design, shoddy manufacturing, or materials that fail. The Osprey Pixel is an absolute pleasure to use - one of those rare pieces of gear where I see little to no room for improvement, and I'm notoriously hard to please. I use this everyday in an urban setting, when I need to look casual/professional yet need to carry my laptop and personal items in something more comfortable and convenient than a briefcase (on foot, bicycle, or commuter train). I also use this when traveling because of its versatility, ease of access, and ability to handle a decent load without becoming bulky or awkward to handle. Simply put, this is a Gear Classic! The overall design is very clean, with simple lines and a surprisingly compact profile. Even when stuffed with gear and personal items (15" MacBook, iPad, notebook, pen, paperback novel, sunglasses, lightweight down jacket, windbreaker, piece of fruit, 18oz Klean Kanteen, bike lights, inhaler and various small personal effects, as well as all the power cords stowed neatly in the Powerhouse cord bag), I have still have enough room to hold my 4yo daughter's puffy jacket and stuffed animal with the expansion zippers deployed. And stuffed, it still carries quite comfortably and securely (no load shifting), staying nice and close to my body without any outward bulges. What's more impressive, I can still quickly and easily access my laptop without opening the main compartment, and it is all kept so securely with strategically placed padding as to put your mind at ease. I also love the lime green interior; while it's far from my favorite color, it enhances visibility making it easy to find even the smallest items inside. Reading another reviewer's comments, I offer my sincere condolences for the loss of a prized laptop, but IMHO, one can hardly fault Osprey for failing to close the zipper.

Very sleak and functional. I removed the waist straps because I'll never use them and they mostly got in the way and got in the way of the sleak design. Would definitely recommend the brand and bag to my urban minded friends and colleagues.

Very happy with this bag! Pros: - Memory foam type padding on straps and top handle make it comfortable. - Main compartment is separate from the computer, so my lunch, papers, etc. don't get smashed. - Plenty of space with a small silhouette. - The color is darker than in the photo. Cons: - Chest and waist straps not necessary for daily commute for me. Could be an advantage for others. - Wish there was a small pocket (maybe on the strap itself?) for keys and phone.

After much hunting, I found this perfect bag! The shape is accommodating for stuffing without protruding like a hump on the back; there's a zippered extension section, and it goes on a woman's body in a compact way. The extra straps at waist and chest also make the bag good back support. And a life time warranty!

My pixel has been used as a daily work/travel (airport) bag. This works great when you are paying attention and think about what and how you're packing where. The design does open you up to some larger human factor driven problems. The laptop compartment is a side zip. If you get ahead of yourself, you will drop your laptop from the height of your back. Learned that one the hard way... twice. The good news is that I'm on my second pixel, the bad news is that I'm on my second pixel because the zipper on the laptop compartment failed on the first one and the second one is about to go. 1.5-2 years is about the lifespan for daily use.

This is a follow up to my previous review, posted about a month ago. This pack really is a great commuter pack, with just the right number of pockets, compartments, etc. The extra four liters of storage available when the bag is expanded is also a great feature that really comes in handy when you have to transport extra files, a heavier jacket, etc. But there are a few more things, in addition to closure for the main compartment and the zipper pulls that could make it even better: (1) The neon yellow liner in the main compartment and smaller compartment are great. I am a big fan of brightly colored interiors in bags to make it easier to find things. But I do not understand why the back side of the flap covering the back is also neon yellow. It takes away from the otherwise clean and professional look of the bag. Even better, the back would be laminated with a waterproof liner, which coupled with a better closure system for the main compartment, would make the bag well-suited for rain. (2) The bottom storage compartment for chargers, cords, etc. is very useful and really helps with organization; however, the compartment is difficult to open and close because the zippers are hard to move around the curves. Better zipper pulls would help somewhat, but the design of the zipper plays a role too. (3) It would be fantastic if the back of the bag had a luggage passthrough. The pack is small enough that you can take it on flights in addition to a roller carry-on bag. It would be great to have a passthrough in the back to connect it the roller luggage in airports for trips. These are all just quibbles. I love this pack. I do hope to see some of these improvements in the next iteration.

This pack is very well thought out. Pockets in the right places, easy access to laptop and tablet from main compartment or the side, comfortable, etc. I looked at EDC packs up to $350 and the Pixel had the best balance of features for me. But there are two things keeping it from being a 5-star review: (1) the bag opening at the top often times shows on the sides even when covered by the flap, which a simple draw string closure would solve; and (2) the zipper pulls are terrible. Also, this did not prevent me from giving it 5 stars, but I wish the tablet pocket was big enough for a 12.9" iPad Pro. Overall, a fantastic pack that I hope Osprey improves even more in the future.

I travel extensively internationally for work. When I switched from a briefcase to a backpack the search was extensive. At one time I had 5 different bags in my possession to compare them back to back, loading and unloading with all the gear I need to travel with. Finally picked the Pixel for it's weight, expansion, comfort under load, and style. In doing so I gave up two features that other bags had. 1) An external water bottle holder. Ideally this would somehow zip open to reveal a mesh. When it is not in use it needs to hide to maintain the lines of the bag. 2) A well lined sun glasses pouch. All the other bags I tried had a velvet-like lined pouch for sunglasses. It could be argued that the outer most zipper pocket could be used for that however I don't find the material suitable, my glasses sink to the bottom making them difficult to retrieve, and it disrupts the lines. I find I store a hard case inside my main pocket but it is constantly moving and doesn't give my hand a known place to reach for when I'm on the go. Finally I did have to return the bag after only a few trips because the zipper on the laptop pocket came unstitched at the top and bottom. I was able to field repair it to get home and Osprey was excellent to deal with getting the bag fix/replaced. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this bag to anyone (in fact my wife liked it so much she got one too!).

I am a frequent flyer that was starting to have back pain, so I needed to switch to a backpack, much to my chagrin. When I would think of laptop backpack for business travel, I would instantly get an image of some NormCore dude with a golf shirt and khakis. Thank god for Osprey! I really do love this pack. It packs quite a bit of stuff and I especially love to bottom compartment and accompanying pouch for chargers and cords. It's got just enough compartments it's not too confusing and easy to navigate through. The 2 things I would say are slight drawbacks. First, I wish there was an external water bottle holder, because putting a bottle of water in the inner compartment should make anyone nervous. The other drawback is I wish the outside pocket and laptop sleeve part were top loading instead of side loading. I've forgotten to zip up the laptop portion more than once and had my laptop slide out of the bag and crash onto the floor. And I nearly lost my wallet when I didn't zip the front pocket. In these situations, gravity could have been my friend and not my enemy - and top loaders would have helped this. All in all, it's very stylish and sleek and does not make me feel like the average business travel bear.

I got one just yesterday and intend to use it mostly for daily commuting to work with occasional errand of 1-liter pack and a bag of powdered milk taken into consideration. I chose this model because I couldn't find any Flapjacks here in the Philippines. Anyway, right off the bat, I have observed that the zippers on this model seem cheap and unexpectedly below par for a product that is in the price range where it is. Imagine, even the zippers on the smaller (=less expected load) Case Logic that is priced less than half of this one are better. Also left out, I think, is a locking option so that the side zippers can be prevented from sliding down. That may not be a big thing for the expansion part, but will surely add a great deal of security when added to the laptop compartment zipper. Again, I think it is but right to expect it from a product like this one. Aside from the zippers, I am pretty impressed on the quality of the materials used and the protection that they can provide to what we're going to put behind them, especially the laptop. If the zippers will hold up, I believe that I can get a lot of mileage from this bag. Nice design, too. Just last thing, I am not sure up to what size of laptop it is designed, but the upper width could be a little too wide. I think it narrowing it by an inch or an inch and half can still accommodate the laptops with bigger screen.

Overall this is an excellent bag. There is just one huge problem that has bothered me since I have bought it and that is the side laptop opening. The specs for this bag say it can hold a 15" laptop but it is honestly not practical given the current design. I often find myself having to force the computer into the bag. However I was able to make it easier by cutting the top part of the fabric making the opening just slightly larger. Would buy again if the sizing was actually able to fit a 15" laptop with ease.

Love this pack except the design flaw others have mentioned. If you forget to zip up the laptop compartment, laptop is basically in a launch pouch if you go to swing pack on and forget to zip. My macbook went flying, put two dents in our new coffee table and dented corner of macbook. Not osprey's fault, but I wish design had a fail-safe for this possible user error.

I really wanted to give this 5 stars - because the style is great (I don't feel like a little kid or a hiker), there is so much functionality in the bag, and it's really comfortable to wear. It's well engineered and the folks at Osprey really thought this one though - with the exception of the side pockets. At first, I loved the hidden side pocked in the back for my laptop, but as I started to use it more and more I found it rather awkward because I feel like I always start on the wrong side and have to hunt for the zipper. I think this pocket would have been a fantastic feature if it was top loading. Same goes for the outside pocket on the flap - which is horizontal. I thought I had zipped the pocket when I was in a hurry in a hurry, and almost lost my wallet. Again top loading would have been terrific for easy access and not losing things...and because that's how gravity works. I find now I just use the internal pockets for my laptop and wallet, just to be safe. The other feature I would have loved is an external water bottle holding net. All in all, it's a great pack and I imagine I'll use it for many years. But a few slight tweaks would have made this bag a 10 on a 1 to 5 scale.

I own many Osprey bags and until this pack, all my reviews have been 5 stars. All my friends know I am a Osprey fan and I have led many to buy Osprey. I was after a smaller brother for my Nebula 34, so I could carry my daily items to work and back. The concept of this pack is great, not too small, not too big, excellent organisation, side-access to the laptop and tablet/kindle, wide access through main opening, and it's expandable, which is awesome. So, this is sounding like another 5 star review wasn't it for the workmanship. The seams run in a way so that the cover-flap fabric alignment is uneven, which means that you have the pack opening sticking out from under the flap on one side (inviting rain and dirt). The laptop compartment closure strap is too long, the zippers don't run well in the bottom compartment, the zippers overall seem cheap, don't start me on the zipper ties, the cable organiser pouch feels cheap and yes, the entire bag feels cheaply made and not worth the Osprey name. I bought this from a reputable dealer, yet it feels like cheap fake. I urgently needed the bag so when I received it, I simply had to use it the next day - if it wasn't for that I would have returned it. Osprey, this bag just cost you my 'can't fault you' fan status and I can't blindly recommend the brand anymore. Come on - you can do better!
